When Airlia had gone to sleep that night she had felt odd. Delving into dreamland had always been easy for her, but that night she just couldn't fall asleep. She felt giddy and happy. Bubbly even but she wasn't sure why. Whatever for it was keeping her awake.

Either way, she laid in her bed waiting for sleep to come to claim her, to drift into a peaceful world of clouds. A kingdom she entered every night she went to sleep where she was carefree and calm.

Truth be told her dream self wasn't very different from her regular self. She was always calm and didn't have the mental capacity to ever really worry that much.

So she sighed and tossed and turned until the clock struck midnight and finally... Finally, she fell asleep.

When she opened her eyes again she was laying in a bed of clouds. Layers and layers of clouds drifted below her and they were soft as cotton candy. Tasted like it too when she pulled apart a piece and happily started munching on cotton candy-colored clouds. She looked around and enjoyed the silence around her. The soft pink colors around her eased her mind and she felt no reason to leave. So she just laid back down and looked up at the sky that opened up to space above her as she was on the highest cloud. Here she felt so small. Like nothing could hurt her.

Drifting along with the wind that blew the clouds she looked for shapes in them and smiled as she gently patted the clouds around her, breaking apart pieces and shaping them into animals. Clouds were tangible in her dreams. She could play with them and loved their impossible softness.

A happy Hufflepuff girl she was in her world of clouds.

That's until she felt something change. The clouds swirled and a harsh wind ended her calm presence.
For some odd reason, the dream wasn't fully hers anymore. The clouds grew slightly darker and she looked around utterly confused as she stood up and nearly slipped her foot through a sudden hole in the cloud that had just a moment ago been so sturdy.

Airlia looked around, knowing somehow that she wasn't alone and her eyes landed on a beautiful girl with dark brown hair.

Taking a step back she called out: "Hello?"

As per usual, Adamina sat up in her bed in her dormitory, curtains closed as she curled around the book in her hands, others strewn around her in a semicircle. She would find what she was looking for, find another book, and connect the topics as much as she could.

She did this every night, oftentimes not managing to go to sleep until the sun came out. Her inner clock had adjusted to this - long nights and waking up late.

Oddly enough, Adamina felt her eyes drooping shut around eleven, and she forced herself to stay awake, before her body near-collapsed forward on the minute it turned midnight.

She woke up on a pink cloud, causing a frown to pull down her lips slightly. She didn’t dream, let alone of clouds. She had nightmares from time to time, as most did, but never dreamed and remembered it.

At her stormy thoughts, the sky darkened faintly, and sections of the cloud rotted away faintly. Adamina glanced down at her hands, attempting to count her fingers, but to no avail. Definitely a dream, then.

Yet, oddly enough, she sensed a presence. She turned around to meet eyes with another girl there, who seemed confused as she greeted her.

”Er- hello?” Adamina said, supposing that it was best to greet this figment of her imagination - no use turning this dream into a nightmare by being rude. “So, how about this weather?” she said, chuckling slightly, feeling a bit put off by this other girl. Oddly enough, she seemed tangible - and Adamina couldn’t recall ever seeing this girl in her life, another thing that didn’t fit in the line of dreaming.

Airlia was confused. She never dreamed about other people. Her dreams were always her safe heaven. A place to be alone and undisturbed by the actions and thoughts of others.

The girl before her had pale skin and dark brown hair. There was something very dainty about her, but at the same time, she looked strong. Like she could take on the world and outshine it.

"Well, it was a little brighter before." Airlia responded to the girl, confused about everything. It was like the dream wasn't entirely hers anymore.

Airlia took a few steps toward her, tilting her head like a lost puppy.

"How are you here? Who are you?" Airlia's voice wavered a bit, her brows scrunched in confusion as her voice bounced off the clouds and sounded almost ethereal like everything here did. She wondered if they'd met before. The girl felt familiar in a way, but not to the point where it would be normal for her to be in the same dream. If Airlia were to dream of a person it would probably be her brother, but alas it wasn't meant to be.

So why was this girl here?

The night, all in all had been quite strange. Usually, she fell asleep so quickly, today it had taken time and now there was a strange girl in her otherwise calm dream. She looked back down at the clouds below her feet and took a side step as the cloud once again thinned and almost dropped her. This dream was strangely dangerous for having been such a pleasant one.

When looking closer at the girl she didn't seem like a dream, her colors weren't as pale and perfect as their surroundings. Just like Airlia, she looked real in a world of perfect pastels.

What was going on?

"Wait a minute," Adamina said, confusion gleaming through her marble eyes. "You're... not real are you?" Adamina's head flurried with movement suddenly, trying to piece together her thoughts. This was a dream, and therefore all scenarios were merely conjured up by her brain while she was sleeping - sort of like playing a movie of her own imagination.

However, considering Adamina's imagination was minuscule, she couldn't believe that she would have the ability to conjure up another person asking why she was here. She stared at the other girl, noticing how confused she seemed, how shocked she was. The way she furrowed her eyebrows, how her voice seemed to raise at the end like asking a question - she didn't act like a made-up character.

Adamina frowned, pacing across the ever-thinning cloud, careful to take a winding path to avoid the holes. The night had been odd - she had fallen asleep much earlier than usual, cutting off Adamina's reading time, which she always valued. Her hand instinctively went to her right pocket, pausing her pacing for a moment.

The Gryffindor sighed heavily as she realized her notebook wasn't in its customary space - it was a dream, after all. How to go about testing something's tangibility? she wondered, looking at the other girl across from her, looking her up and down and frowning slightly.

She certainly was beautiful, there was no doubting that, what with her silvery-blonde hair and icy-blue eyes, but she seemed somewhat out of place in the pastel wonderland around them. She seemed delicate, much like a daisy plucked from the ground.

Adamina made up her mind quickly as what to do, her feet quickly moving over the cloud, gracefully dodging the holes that appeared like some sort of bipedal cat, stalking towards its prey. Upon reaching the other girl, Adamina pinched her own arm quickly, not being too surprised when she didn't wake up. Pain generated by the brain and not by actual stimuli will do no good to wake me up - but maybe someone else.

Adamina tilted her head, eyes burning into the other girl's and asked, "How do you feel about getting pinched?"

Airlia watched this girl with interest as she expertly made her way to her, dodging and swerving around dangerous drops. Of course, this was a dream so they couldn't really die here, but falling from a great height wasn't Airlia's idea of a pleasant dream either. Sounded more like a nightmare in fact. And Airlia didn't want this to turn into one of those.

She couldn't wrap her head around the question about being real and frowned. This was her dream. Why would this girl be asking that question of her?

She watched the girl approach and took a simple step back. She wasn't one for warnings of threats but could tell when something wasn't normal. And this definitely wasn't.

"This is a dream. Is anything really real here?" Airlia answered the girl with a question of her own but offered her arm out when the girl wanted to pinch her. Wouldn't really be her choice of action in the situation but the girl must have had a reason for it.

Now when the girl was even closer she knew she didn't belong here. It was all the more clearer the closer she got.

"How are you in my dream? I don't think you're meant to be here..." Airlia looked around at the darker clouds of deep purple and couldn't help but attach the strange coloring to the girl. After all, it had happened when she'd arrived.

The girl was looking at Airlia with an intense gaze. Like she was trying to decipher Airlia's whole existence and see into her soul. A naive young girl as she was, Airlia didn't wonder about it. She'd gotten many looks in her lifetime and this wasn't that different from the look her mother would give her when she would speak about not wanting to inherit the family legacy. Like she made no sense and was a puzzle to solve.

The girl had a smart glint to her eye. Like she knew how the world worked and what was to happen. While that could not be the case Airlia still knew the girl was different from her. Smarter, more calculating. Perhaps even a bit more free. Free to use her own mind and choose for herself. Liberties Airlia rarely had the right to use.

That was probably one of the reasons she'd readily offered her arm for a weird girl to pinch when a fool could tell it wasn't the best action in the said moment.

Adamina took the other girl's arm in her own hands, holding her own hand over the other girl's delicate inner forearm, preparing for her nails to sharply grip into the pale skin, when the other girl began talking. Her dream? Adamina wondered, her fingers hesitating millimeters away from the other girl's skin.

"Your dream?" Adamina asked, a frown curving her lips downwards, making her face droop down slightly as her brows furrowed. "Impossible. None of this is real, like you said. You're merely a figment of my own imagination, my own curiosity presenting me with a situation where someone is insisting I'm the one out of place. Possibly attempting to send me a message, or reflect my own life, but not another actual human," the Gryffindor explained, oddly enough, feeling the need to. After all, this wasn't a real person, so there was no need for her to explain the way dreams worked.

Adamina shifted slightly, feeling the cloud directly beneath them slowly thinning, a dark purple shade overtaking it. The purple, oddly enough, almost felt more sturdy underneath Adamina's feet, causing her to pull away from the other girl and giggle slightly as a wisp of the purple trailed up to her arm, gently winding around it in a feather-like embrace. This was a far better dream then most she had, aside from the presence of the other girl, the one trying to tell her it wasn't her dream.

Adamina pulled her attention away from the wisp of smoke encircling her arm, her steely gaze going back to the pale girl. "Listen," she began, sighing softly and waving off the smoke slightly, letting it drifts away, "When I pinch you, you should 'wake up', seeing as the pain stimulus is occurring from someone outside of your own brain, which doesn't make much sense, considering you originate from my own vague concepts."

Adamina paused, holding out her hand, purple smoke curling softly off of it as if she were about to burst into flames. "Are you ready to?"

Thoughts
Spoken words

Confused and uncomfortable, Airlia simply smiled as the other girl spoke. Most of her words went completely over her head as she nodded and pretended to understand.

'Hmm, I didn't know I was a figment of someone's imagination. I thought I was Airlia Winter. But if I get to keep living my life as I have so far then I guess I don't mind being figment.' She shrugged.

The strange oddity of a girl spoke about a message Airlia was surely here to give, but Airlia had no message. If she did she would have written it on her arm so she wouldn't forget, but her wrist was as pale and unmarked as any other day, so she must not have been here to fulfill the duties of an owl.

Airlia watched as a part of the cloud became almost playful with the girl. She was confused, feeling a slight pinch of jealousy inside her which was a rather rare feeling for her. Despite the girl saying she was of the imaginary kind, Airlia was still pretty sure that this was her dream, so shouldn't the funny cloud smoke be doing what she wanted it to, which was to keep the clouds below her feet sturdy so she wouldn't have to keep sidestepping just to stay above the clouds.

When the girl waved off the cloud of smoke Airlia looked at it fade away: 'Rude. That was a possible friend she swatted off. I wanted to play too.'

Her attention, however, went back to the girl and Airlia straightened her back, softening the look in her eyes and flicked a strand of white hair over her shoulder returning to her usual state of grace and elegance. She surely sometimes slipped off of the family rules of always being poised when she slept because they were her dreams, but if people were near it was time to return to her state of lady-like gentleness.

Airlia nodded at the girl: "Go ahead, pinch away." She smiled and tilted her head: "But it is though; my dream I mean."
