Dear, Graci
I was pleasantly surprised when I received your letter, not suspecting any form of contact, but grateful for it. In all truth, I rather enjoy writing letters, which actually reminds me to look for my letters from my pen-pal, I seemed to have misplaced them.
No worries about your writing or pacing of sentences, it's just a letter and I am quite literate, thank you very much, so I could read your handwriting just fine.
Nothing new is happening here, just starting up school again, with the same old magically mundane happenstances. Though, things feel different, however imperceptibly. It is most likely nothing, but well... I will just get straight to the point.
No one in my family has ever gone to summer camp, or the inter-school events, they have never wanted to. You see, we are a very content family, wanting nothing other than to be where we are, and no one could fathom why I would want to go to these things. Other than Tallinn, but they refuse to understand where he is coming from, either. Rather unfortunate, really, but ever since I went to the summer camp, I have wanted to really see the world. Before, I only needed to be with family, and that is how I would have lived out my life but I am beginning to realize just how interesting people are.
Which brings me to the other thing. the spiders. Not to worry, there are no actual spiders, just metaphorical ones. So, so many metaphorical ones. I would describe it as tree branches, but I actually like trees. For your sake, though, I will just tell you. I am pretty sure it is anxiety.
I would be the last to randomly say that out of nowhere without actually feeling it. I have been feeling like that for a little bit, like the noises got to loud and I overthink literally all my life decisions. It is not a big deal, not really. I am probably only over exaggerating, and it is probably only the social kind, but I thought I was a social person? Is this like an identity crisis or something?
But feel completely free to ignore the entirety of that letter, I would just rant to Mayah about this, but she is feeling distant now, too. I think she did not appreciate me leaving for summer camp, either. I hope things are going well for you, care to share more about that Zoe thing, yet?
One of your many best friends,

Footsteps that matched her heartbeat echoed as she made her way up, up, up the stairs to the owlery, quickening rapidly with the excitement of a letter from her family. She entered the owlery, and the steady sound of her footsteps was interrupted by the soft thud of flat paper. She looked down to see an envelope, the seal torn in a manner that seemed more accidental than voluntary, dark with the dirt from countless shoes that had tread upon it. Gingerly, she bent down and picked up the ragged envelope. The ink on the envelope had smudged and the paper was stained so she couldn't make out the recipient, or the sender. The recipient must have dropped it without realizing, or the owl making the delivery might have. Either way, this letter was lost, not abandoned.

She peeled open the envelope, intending to read the recipient's name alone. Dear Graci, the letter started. Having no idea who Graci was, she read the contents, searching for a clue that might help her. She found no clues, but curiosity and concern rose. She sank down to the floor, and, right there in the middle of the owlery, pulled out parchment, quill and ink, and began to write.

Dear Jarden Ardelis,

You must be wondering who this stranger is who writes you a letter. I simply felt I must inform you that I found your letter to Graci on the floor of the owlery, and I have no clue who Graci could be, so am unable to get this to her. However, the contents of your letter (which I apologize for reading) urged me to reach out to you, and so, here it is, I suppose.

Let me start with what concerned me most. I know this may seem odd coming from a stranger, but I urge you to reach out to me should you feel the 'spiders' you mentioned return. We do not know each other, but I understand the strange feeling of your identity going in different directions. You mentioned that you thought you enjoyed being social, but feel anxious about it, maybe? Although I can't pretend to imagine how that feels, I suppose I can say that I am often regarded to be a happy person, incredibly social as well, but it is not uncommon for loneliness to kick in. My concern stems from you mentioning that you are unable to speak to Mayah, and now your letter has not reached Graci.

Now that we have discussed the most pressing matter, let me move onto other, more fun discussions. I do hope this might give you an opportunity for something new, a break from the mundane that you were complaining about. I can tell you about my side of the world you wish to see, although I'm sure Graci must fill the Hogwarts drama side of things. Speaking of which, I do not mean to pry but I, too, would like to know what new things have happened with Zoe.

Perhaps if you attend summer camp next year, we could speak in person as well. I dearly hope you respond to this letter, or that might be a bit too awkward for my taste. I apologize if I am wrong, but it seems to me that you are aching for something new and interesting. Perhaps a new person to talk to will suffice?

Hoping to be your new friend,

Picking the letter off of the window sill, Jarden had presumed that is was simply a reply from Graci, he had almost forgotten about the letter he had sent altogether. Almost. The sender was someone he had never met before, at least not that he remembered.

Dear strangerMs. Lucille Rosenhart,
I was, quite frankly, surprised and suspicious when this was not Graci's handwriting. Well, I had seen the return name on it so I knew it was not her, but that is far besides the point. Do you often make a point of reading other people's correspondence?
Anyway, Graci Laren is a second year Gryffindor, so if you would do me a favour and ask around so you can give this to her? I think she would greatly appreciate it, she is kind of sentimental like that. Even if she had read it.
It is comforting, in a way, to know someone sort of understands. Perhaps that is all I am looking for, someone to assure me that I am not going insane and this is perfectly normal. Or maybe no one is really normal, and the term is relative. I think I just might tell you when the spiders return again, though I hope they do not. Regardless they will, as it seems they have taken up permanent residence within my soul.
I find Graci might be dramatic in and f herself, she is not one to gossip about drama, or be apart of it in any way, so you probably would know more of it. Alias, I am loathe to break Graci's privacy and trust, but if you got her talking long enough, you would know, as well. Her twin sister, Zoe, currently resides in Australia with their uncle. She had not made a single positive acquaintance in her first year, and had felt so vehemently about not going back, she ended up becoming home schooled. They have not talked since, I do not think, so I worry it will be taxing on Graci. She spoke so fondly of Zoe, and I know it must be hard. Somewhat like what is going on with my and Mayah, though on far different terms.
We would not have to wait till summer camp to speak, if you wanted, because Hogwarts hosts a fall ball, and quite conveniently, the other schools are all invited. In fact, if I am not mistaken, it will be in the next few weeks, though the dates are rarely the same.
I do believe it would suffice, more than, so I look forward to further talking to you, Ms. Lucille.

Dear Jarden Ardelis,

I appreciate you getting back to me. I must say, I was not expecting you to respond, so this was a pleasant surprise. I do not often read other people's letters, of course, but I found the unopened envelope on the floor of the owlery and, in an attempt to see who it was meant for, ended up reading the contents. Coincidentally, I, too, am in Gryffindor, so I will attempt to ask around the common room for Graci Laren. I do not think I have a class with her, so she must be in a different year. I, personally, am in my first year, and am still learning the many Hogwarts traditions.

I feel terribly for Graci in the short excerpt you have given me of her relationship with her sister. I have only ever been close to my family, and only now, at Hogwarts, am learning to accept all sorts of different people into my inner circle, although, of course, trust takes time. I could not imagine falling out with even one of my siblings, although I truly doubt that could ever happen. Both of my siblings are significantly older than me, so it is almost as if they raised me along with my parents. I feel their absence greatly at Hogwarts, having been away from home for the first time in my life.

Of course, I shall not ask you to tell me more of Zoe and Graci. Perhaps if I find her, I could tell her of our 'conversation.' Perhaps I could help you with your troubles with Mayah? It seems that the pair of you are quite close and going through a bit of a rough patch. Perhaps an outsider's opinion would help?

As promised, I shall tell you a bit about myself. I haven't really gotten involved in too much drama at Hogwarts yet, having just gotten here. I did, however, have a bit of an argument with a boy a few days ago. It was my fault; my cat having gotten loose and chased his ferret. Besides that, I can't think of someone that might dislike me or any problems I have faced so far, other than my constant ailment of homesickness.

Where are you from? Like you, I am curious to see what the rest of the world is like, particularly the other schools. This is my first interaction with the magical world, save for stories from my siblings from Hogwarts. I do not know the wizard side of my family, and of course, the Muggle side is unaware of such things. Perhaps that has contributed to the sense of loneliness I seem to have built up?

I feel I am beginning to ramble, and so I shall stop writing now. I do look forward to meeting at the fall ball, if we get the chance.

Forgetting was a thing Jarden did a lot, like time had no meaning to him when he was wandering through the trees. Until he was inevitably called back under the guise of a letter. Fortunately, it was not just a guise to get the boy to stop being a budding recluse and an actual letter. Hm, how wonderful, and now I get correspondence from the mystery friend. Nice.

Dear Ms. Lucille Rosenhart,
Did you really send a letter in the assumption that it would not be read or responded to? So long as it made it to me safely and relatively undamaged and I did not lose it, I would undoubtedly respond. Though, you did not know that. I truly do not mind you reading my correspondence, despite what it might have read like. I did not mean to sound so... abrasive? Then again, it is all in how you perceive it.
She is dealing with it in her own regard, in her own way. I admire that about her, the way she takes most everything in stride, thinking on it mostly in private. I do not pretend to know her well, but I do think I am good at reading people. And (my mother hates it when I start sentences with 'and'. She says it is improper) it is wonderful that you are close to your family, truly something many never experience.
To earn your trust must be quite the endeavour, I hope the people you do end up letting in are loyal friends. Undoubtedly your family misses you just as much, and cannot wait for you to be back with them again.
Graci is quite the talkative person, so I am sure she would probably bear her heart to anyone who asked. Well, not anyone, she does have some semblance of self respect and the ability to judge others' personalities.
Rough patch indeed. It would be worse if we spent none of our time together, but our days are spent mostly the same. Having the same Dunkun would do that to any two people. As they say, 'familiarity breeds contempt', even when you have been inseparable from since you could remember. Now, it is simply a matter of what we strive for that makes the difference. There is always the odd one or two in every family, and I suppose that is me. I love them more than anything and would do anything for them, but I, too, have my own dreams and hopes, you know? At the end of the day, it is only a slight dramatic period of my days, that is what I am hopeful for, at the very least.
I suppose the lack of drama would be much appreciated, but perhaps you chase the thrill of gossip or verbally sparring? I lack the impulsiveness to give good enough comebacks without thinking about it for a significant amount of time to be any good at being involved in excessive amounts of drama. I have always had a soft spot for cats, what is yours named, by any chance?
I am from The Isle of Divination, the island where Tenūsa is located, which is currently the place in which I get my education. Our schooling system is a bit different than Hogwarts's, though, with a Dunkun (our teachers) teaching two to three students. Ms. Lorelai is me and Mayah's Dunkun, quite lively and energetic for someone who has to handle two twelve year olds for days one end, if you ask me.
I hope I am a good representative of the magical world outside of Hogwarts, then, and that I do not disappoint on any previous expectations you had for it. I also hope you do not feel lonely too often (I ALSO hope you do not mind my excessive use of the word 'hope' I seem to have forgotten any words that mean the same). If you do find yourself to feel lonely with increasing regularity I will always be just an owl away (as well as a few days of flying time for the poor owl, but that is besides the point).
I find I do not mind your rambling, if you would excuse mine, of course. I await your response with an odd gladness, have an amazing day.
Your friend,

Dear Jarden Ardelis,

Let me start my letter by saying I find it quite odd for you to refer to me as Ms. I do believe we can drop that degree of formality, unless you think otherwise. You can simply refer to me by name, if you'd prefer to do so. I don't think I've ever been commonly referred to as Ms. before. I imagine that will come with age, but I'm not quite ready for that just yet.

Your talk of a Dunkun is interesting. I wonder how well I'd fare with a teacher who taught only one or two other children. I imagine your education is quite personalized, but Ms. Lorelai must be quick to point out your mistakes, as she doesn't have a large class to distract her. Between you and Mayah, is the friendly competition beginning to get a bit too much? I imagine I would not thrive under that system. I would feel as if my teacher Dunkun is watching me constantly, like a hawk, and the pressure would get to me. What is it like for you?

Also in regards to your education, although I apologize for discussing things that must be incredibly boring for you to recount, I assume Divination is what your school must be most known for? Simply judging by the name of the Isle. Divination is intriguing to me; I find it fascinating how so many parts of it have leaked into Muggle culture, from fortune telling to astrology. Sometimes, I find it difficult to decipher reality from myth in that field. It is so incredibly intriguing how magic can hide in plain sight, with Muggles thinking it is all a hoax.

Alas, I am not quite equipped for drama either. Where you lack the quick thinking for witty retorts, I lack the temperament. I find I often attempt to mediate strenuous altercations, and often tend to remain silent when someone picks a fight with me. I despise fights, verbal and physical, but I do find myself gravitating towards them, if only to try to stop them. As for gossip, I am more than happy to lend an ear. A bit of a flaw in my character, perhaps, but can you really blame me?

I understand the feeling of being the odd one out in your family. Growing up, my parents, of course, were busy with work, and my siblings were off at Hogwarts, leaving me to my own devices. Now, I am off at Hogwarts, with everyone left to their own devices back home. Whatever your hopes and dreams may be, I wish you luck in achieving them. Family is a blessing, but I imagine sometimes they may hold you back. In those circumstances, is it selfish to choose your dreams over your family? I am unsure, but I suppose we will cross that bridge when we get to it. My own dreams consist of magizoology. I adore winged horses and unicorns and dragons and all the others. In fact, if I listed down all the species I am interested in, I would fill up this whole page with nothing but talk of nifflers, bowtruckles, and the like. Who knows? Perhaps I shall become the next Newt Scamander? A fairytale, certainly, but I suppose that is why they call it a dream. And you? What do you wish for?

Your rambling is welcome, and your limited vocabulary when it comes to hope is welcome as well. I am no literary teacher to correct you on these things. After all, it is not like our letters are being graded. I wish you a pleasant day, and good things to come.

A pleasant surprise it was when Jarden realized he looked forward to get letters back. Usually he would have been just fine not talking to anyone for hours, but was that starting to get kind of lonely? The company of paper was better, and far less judgemental. Paper also never minded sitting in trees.

Dear Lucille,
Sorry, a force of habit, I suppose. Though, if we are technically friends now, it would be a little weird to refer to you so formally. And I am loathe to make anyone feel as though they are growing up too fast, I feel like I am, sometimes.

You could say the teaching is quite personalized, yes. Not a bad thing, and the nit-picking is actually quite helpful? As for 'friendly rivalry' well, there is a bit of that, and she is, in general, smarter than me, so sometimes that is annoying, but I refuse to hold that against her. Instead I try to do better. Kind of a win-win situation from how I see it. I digress, it is not everyone's preferred method of being taught, or even a good one for quite a few people. I would imagine some people prefer to just be given some time to figure it out themselves.

It is not boring at all, in fact, I am still intrigued with it to this day, especially after seeing the way some of the other schools do it. Do not apologize, curiosity is a good thing. If it was not, I fear I would be a very bad person indeed.

In general, muggle culture is just fascinating to me. Seeing what they take from our culture, and what we take from theirs. Ultimately, my knowledge of them is little, having hardly met a muggleborn. Their forms of divination are for more entertainment than anything, from what I have gathered. Fascinating, nonetheless.

I find that, I, too, would prefer to not fight at all than resolve the conflict in full. And I would not say avoiding conflict is a bad thing. An admirable one, really, for it means you also will abstain from starting quarrels out of the blue. Surprisingly enough, that sets you apart from a lot of people I have had the pleasure of meeting, always looking for a fight, some of them. Also, a lot of people are gossips, or something close, but, the way I see it, it is usually harmless fun. Unless you are speaking of someone derogatorily, that is.

Sounds lonely. Sometimes I crave the quiet, but in all reality I can hardly imagine not having some sibling or other bothering me every other hour. And it is... nice to know that there are kindred spirits out there, looking to be a part of something more. Then again, I could be over dramatizing something simpler than what I make it.

I, too, hope you can achieve your hopes and dreams. I have been thinking on this, and it seems such a simple thing, but if you think about it, so few people do. Constrained by so many things in this life... I feel bad for those who have never had the opportunity to truly live how they want.

As for choosing family over hopes and dreams... well, I hope everyone can find their own balance, the two do not have to be indivisible to each other. Relationships might be strained, sure, but family means loving you even if it is hard to see eye to eye on what each wants in life. Love does not always mean complete understanding or full acceptance of all actions, as far as I know it. There does have to be a modicum of respect, but I figure that was implied? I would like to know your thoughts on this, as I only have my own experiences to base my inferences off of.

Magizoology is a subject that can never be over-studied (in my humble opinion), and dreams for one's own life are never just fairy tales (in most cases), simply unexplored possibilities (my mother's words).

My dreams... well everyone here always has assumptions, even when they ask 'what do you want to do when you grow up'. Then I realized, expectations are just something assumed, not another box to mold into (sorry if I am making something out of nothing). Now on to my actual hopes for my life, I often entertain the idea of being a travelling herbologist, my two favourite things wrapped into one. Herbology, and seeing new places. Maybe even teaching Herbology at a school somewhere? Not Tenūsa, obviously, then I would have to teach all the subjects, but it would be nice to instil the same passion I have for plants in others.

I fear if our letters were being graded I would pay much closer attention to not starting my sentences with conjunctions. I mean, I write better than I speak, but there is always more room for fixing grammar. (Or so I am told. Like, mom, why do you care if I start my sentences off the same five different times in a letter?) It is also quite the blessing that you are rather neutral to my rambling, as I seem to be doing quite a lot of it.

Anyway, best wishes for the days ahead, and I hope to hear back from you soon!

Your friend,

Dear Jarden Ardelis,

I shall respond to all you have written later, but first, the Autumn Ball is right around the corner! Just a bit more than a week, and the night shall arrive. Will you be attending? I think it would be quite lovely to see each other, after having written for a while. Since you enjoy seeing the world, I shall simply assume that you will be here (excuse my excitement) and we shall see each other.

This shall be my first ball. Have you attended the ones held at Hogwarts in the past? I am quite uncertain about it, especially since it seems to have an ocean theme this year. At least that's what the rumors say. I am not fond of the sea; I much prefer to be among mountains or forests or fields, anything except water, really. I do not like saltwater, especially, with how it stings your eyes, but I am quite determined to enjoy the ball either way.

Now getting to your letter. I feel that ever since I have come to Hogwarts, I have felt as if I am growing up a little faster? I suppose that's what happens when you're on your own for the first time, and not being coddled. I have to say it's a different experience, and I feel lonelier here than I did back home, although I do have a lovely roommate who I think I'll get along with for the rest of my days here. I know it might be a bit too soon to tell, but we are such kindred spirits, I do believe we will.

I think I might know more than you do about Muggles. I have spent my entire life living in a mostly Muggle town, and I am a halfblood, so my father's side is full of Muggles. Sometimes, I feel as if I know more of Muggles than wizards, and that is only emphasized by my being here and realizing how many wizard born children have a much better grasp on their world than I do. Or, perhaps it is our world now? It must be, as I, too, have magic, even if it can often feel inferior to the wizard borns who already seem to know the basics of everything.

It surprises me that you have met many people looking for a fight. That just seems like a bout of stupidity to me. It surely can't be a smart decision to constantly be fighting, can it? I think the only times I've ever really fought is when it has had something to do with defending someone. Myself? Not so much. It is good that you avoid conflict as well. I think that makes you a much safer person to be around, as there are some who quite behave like a match that only needs the slightest spark to start fire, and they are certainly a bit more intimidating and nerve racking to be around. One is always walking on eggshells, and that is not a pleasant experience.

I disagree with your thoughts of love. I believe love is acceptance first, understanding second. When one loves unconditionally, it must always be tied to accepting someone the way they are, the way they wish to be. After all, can you really claim to love someone if you do not accept certain parts of them? Is that not you simply loving a few specific parts of them, rather than them as a whole? And can you really respect someone without accepting them? But I digress. Love is perhaps too complicated for two people to have the same definition of it. I believe love is simply choosing to care for someone, no matter what. Choosing them and their wellbeing over and over again, simply because you value them that much. To me, that is love.

I like your mother's words about dreams being unexplored possibilities. They make dreams sound all the more attainable, which is really all we work towards, isn't it? I adore Herbology, and I commend you for wishing to study it. Far too many people dislike it simply because you have to get your hands dirty. I do not think I could ever be a herbologist, as my passion lies more in flowers than plants as a whole. I so love flowers. In fact, I had a booth at summer camp selling bouquets. It was quite lovely, if I do say so myself. We shall make a perfect traveling team, herbologist and magizoologist. Perhaps I shall find myself a herd of unicorns.

I end this letter by bringing up the ball again. I am oh so excited for it! I've already begun thinking of what I am going to wear. Perhaps by your next letter, I shall have decided and will tell you all about it.

I wish you the best of days, and a rapidly nearing meeting (I hope)

Dear Lucille,
Overzealous would be an apt descriptor for myself at this moment, pertaining to the ball, that is. Well, not necessarily the ball in and of itself, as I have never been one for dancing or exorbitant amounts of small talk, but for the whole trip to Scotland in general. I most certainly shall be attending, and am loathe to think of dismissing the trip at all. Per usual, none of my siblings shall be attending, but it is what it is. Also, the international schools should be arriving a few days prior to when the actual ball takes place, so we could actually put a face to each other before then. Though, that makes a question arise, how on earth will we actually know who each other are? We will cross that bridge when we come to it I suppose. And your excitement most certainly shall not be excused! Enthusiasm is what makes life brighter, a little more hopeful. Certainly not something to dull down.

Now that I think about it, technically this would be my first time attending an actual ball. As previously mentioned, my family is very rooted to home, and spreading out their wings seems quite detestable to them. And to actually answer your question, though context clues answer it without preamble, no, I did not attend either of the events at Hogwarts last year.

Ah, yes, an ocean theme. Personally it seems rather intriguing, but I live on an island, so water is familiar. Saltwater, I think, should not be a problem at all unless you plan on taking an impromptu swim. The nearest body of water to Hogwarts would have to be the great lake, and if I am not mistaken, lakes are freshwater, so no stinging salt in that case.

In my experience {however EXTREMELY limited it is} maturing happens when we least expect it, never noticing till we reflect on it a few months later. Something I am currently looking forward to is finding out how changed my personality might be the next time I have a bout of excess maturity. As they say, progress is not linear, but often growing and then crashing back down again. For feeling lonely, there is yet another piece of advice (it is like my Mother just decided to shove a whole bunch of random wisdom in my head for moments like these); trials produce perseverance, and perseverance produces character. Pretty much just her way of telling me I had to be smart about complaining over mediocre circumstances.

Thinking you know something, and actually knowing it are very different things. I would assume it's the latter, as I know virtually nothing relevant about muggles at all. Feeling that way I think would be normal, but in my completely unprofessional opinion, that feeling is wrong. Half-bloods are like the best of both worlds, knowing enough about each to fit in and belong in both without feeling too out of depth. Just my thoughts, but it makes sense, right? Also, you. are. not. inferior. If anything, you are cooler because you had less of a chance of being a witch and still beat the odds.

It might have been a slight over exaggeration on my part to say I come across many people looking for a fight, when in reality it is just a case of familiarity breeding contempt. And while I wish I knew what word could replace contempt it seems, for once, words evade me. Simply put, when you live in generally the same community for your whole life, normal relational boundaries seem to stretch a little, allowing more room for discord among friends. It is admirable you rarely get into conflict and even more so that you defend people when they are in it themselves. I find my personal shortcomings are often the source of my own arguments with people, though those are getting rarer as maturing happens between both of the usual parties. On another note, something I think I have figured out is that most of the argumentative people we find are simply so lost they have not a clue what to do. Take that as you will, my thoughts on it are still forming, and I would like to see what you think of it.

Love is such an odd topic, for everyone's views on it differ, more of an abstract concept than something you can do perfectly, especially with the many ways you can do it wrong. Perhaps I phrased my meaning wrong? I do agree with what you say, or write, perhaps? My only pondering on that is what to do if they go against what you believe in, or if your morals bar that complete accepting of who they are or aspire to be, what then? But yes, love is too complicated to be described, by anyone, much less myself.

My mother has her moments, most definitely. For if we have no hope, no dreams for the future, then what is life? There are millions of answers, but you do understand what I am trying to point at? And flowers, well, herbology is not for everyone, but there are so many branches of study you could definitely find something more flower related. I must have missed your booth at the summer camp, walked right past it, most likely, no fault of your own, but everything was much more intriguing than at home where it is all old news.

What do you suppose constitutes as a herd of unicorns? How many and how would you go about attaining the beautiful creatures? Preparation for these things can never start too early, alas, a Care of Magical Creatures lesson or two might help beforehand, regardless.

Now you have got me even more excited than I already was, if possible. A good thing it is, the schools being there for a couple weeks, for finding each other in the first place would be hard enough. When there is a will, there is a way.

I wish you even better days and a joyful week, Lucille.
Your friend,

Dear Jarden,

It is lovely to hear that you are just as excited as I am for the ball. In fact, I have been spending the past few days scrambling to find a suitable dress, including letters to my home begging my mother to send me something from my closet. And, I believe I have found the perfect specimen for you to recognize me with. I shall be wearing a shawl enchanted to look like water, which will likely be the most recognizable part of me. If it so happens that somehow, multiple people have found something of the sort, I shall be the rather forgettable looking one with dark hair and dark eyes. I tend to be quite loud, so I'm sure you might see me sooner or later; if not at the ball, then certainly in the castle.

I have attended a few galas and other events with my mother. She tends to be a bit more involved in her social circles. I meant this to be my first time attending a ball at Hogwarts, and the stories I have heard of past balls are enchanting. It seems the ball tends to immerse itself in the chosen theme, and that makes me a bit nervous, although it is wonderful that you do not share that same sentiment. Of course, the lake is freshwater, but the idea of falling in is none too appealing. But, then again, I'm sure there shall be enchantments and certain measures taken to prevent that from happening, although, knowing myself, I'm just clumsy enough to break through them.

I don't often find myself complaining about things. Perhaps it is because I try to find the silver lining in every cloud. A cliche, perhaps, but there is always something positive to focus on, in every circumstance. At least, that is how I see it. I suppose your view on half-bloods supports that statement. I could choose to look at it as not fully belonging in either world, Muggle or magical, but I think I prefer your statement better, about being the best of both worlds. It shall certainly help me in my Muggle studies classes in a few years. Then, I shall have the advantage over my wizard born peers.

I find it commendable that you extend your empathy to people who might be so aggressive, it is difficult to do so. I find that I agree with you. After all, I can not think of a reason for people to wish to argue or fight other people, or actively seek conflict, unless they themselves are going through something. I apologize for the vague description, but I do not wish to generalize in a subject that must contain nuance. But I must say that the times where I have engaged in a conflict that could have been avoided, I had been feeling some sort of negative emotion. Take from that information what you will.

As for loving someone who goes against what you believe in, I suppose it is simply a case of being worth it. Is this person important enough for you to choose them again, despite your morals not aligning? I truly believe that if you love someone, the answer to that is yes. Or, perhaps, you only loved the version of them that existed in the past. Their current version may be someone you do not wish to love, but you are bound together by memory. I believe acknowledging and recognizing that is very important, since it helps you realize how you truly feel about someone. But, after all, what do I know? I have hardly lived a fraction of my life, and am still learning, and believe I shall be learning forever, especially about this.

It sounds like your mother and I might get along well. Our views in life and about it certainly seem to align. Perhaps dreams are not what make life worth living, but hope certainly is. For me, at least, I wake up each morning hoping this day will be better than the last. I dearly hope that I never experience the "best day of my life." I would prefer to never be able to pick a day better than the rest, instead being caught in uncertainty because I have lived so many wonderful days. But maybe that is just how my mind works, preferring many small good things over one big, great thing.

It is funny that we just missed each other at summer camp. And don't worry, I certainly do not blame you for overlooking my booth. After all, it is often more intriguing to go to places you know little about. I, personally, found my way to a baking booth! That is quite out of character for me, as I tend to dislike cooking for the fear of getting burned, nor am I any good at it. It was, however, a wonderful experience, and didn't seem nearly as daunting with help. I also noticed that most people that came to my booth seemed to come from a city, where they must not have interacted so much with flowers and gardening. Just my quite unprofessional observations.

As for my herd of unicorns, I have not yet formulated a plan. I do have quite a lot of experience with regular horses, however, and how different could it be? However, I see your point so rest assured, there shall be no chasing after unicorns until I have a few Care of Magical Creatures lessons under my belt.

Your enthusiasm is matched, and believe me, I shall find you, even if it requires me putting up missing posters around the castle with your name. But I am sure it will not come to that.

Excitedly awaiting your arrival,
your friend,
