Pet My Companion of cuteness

"Dad what's next on the list?" I asked. My parents and I were in the Diagon alley for shopping for the school supplies that I needed for Hogwarts. "We pretty much covered everything" he said. "We still need to buy a brass cauldron for Potions". "Dad? Mom? Can I have a pet?" I asked nervously.

I was never allowed to have pets at home. My parents did not like pets much. My father was allergic of dogs, while my mother thought that pets would be difficult to take care of. Though we do have an owl for our mail, it was not exactly considered a pet.

My parents looked at me in surprise. Since no reply came I continued, "I promise to take good care of it. It will never be an obstacle for you. I will even take care of the expenses for it." I said. "But Viv!" mother said. "Please mom! I want a companion to share my journey at Hogwarts!"

"I think you expressed yourself well." my father said to me looking at mother. "But are you sure you would be able to take care of it?". "I'm sure I will dad!". "Alright Viv! You can buy a pet!" Said my father smiling. We went to the Magical Menagerie, the only and the best pet shop in Diagon Alley. My parents stayed outside and gestured to me to go in.

As I went inside, different sounds enveloped in my ears. People and animals alike were shouting. There seemed to be a commotion. There was a small silver shaded kitty being chased by an old couple. The kitty was running about, scaring away toads and owls, throwing cages, tearing pages of books, and chasing rats.

The kitty came running towards me and leaped. I caught it in my hands. "Oh! I'm sorry young lady!" said the old man. He was about 6 feet tall with a pot belly. "This kitty always causes a commotion in our store!" he said. I liked this kitty very much. I stroked its soft fur gently. "No problem sir!!" I said, "Could I buy this kitty?" I asked.

To this the old woman who was the old man's wife replied. "Managing this kitty is hard. You see, this kitty is umm... tad naughty. There are many other pets that might tickle your fancy." she said kindly. I thought for a while. I looked around. I don't think i will like any of the other pets. I don't want owls, My father is allergic to dogs, I hate toads, lizards and frogs, and I could keep going on.

If one was to point anything negative about me, it would be my stubbornness. Once I made up my mind I will not change it. I wanted only this cat and nobody can change it. I expressed my desire to the couple. "Very well!" the man said "But be aware that this kitty might like to bite things! It was born recently only about a couple of weeks ago. It's brothers and sisters were sold quickly but this kitty remained alone. Though some of the kids showed interest in it, t turned away everybody who had seen it till now. I'm surprised that it still sitting in your arms."

Poor Kitty! I thought How alone it must have felt without its brothers and sisters! It has been nothing but trying to play with everyone!! It didn't have anyone who understood it! I started feeling pity for it. I felt gratitude to the old couple. Though the kitty was causing trouble in their shop, they watched over it kindly! I followed the old couple to the counter and paid 10 gallons for the kitty. Every knut was worth it!

"Thanks!!" I said as I came out of the shop cuddling the kitty. Her silver fur reminded me of the moon. "Mom, Dad" I said, "Meet Selene. My new cat!"
