| CV | The group of girls followed him all the way out in the corridor, sticking to him to the point of inconvenience. After the horrible morning and evening doing what he from now on would call a commoners field trip, it felt like his whole world view had been turning on its head. Nothing that deflated his massive ego, obviously, but it just made everyone else seem even more foreign to him. How they could have let him ride a train like a regular student, and without any extra first class services onboard, still baffled him. Someone would hear about this, he would make sure of it. Camille had, prior to setting his designer shoes into the platform, expected a welcome no less than grand. In France, everyone worth knowing of knew of him. Perhaps it had been simple naivité to assume the general English wizarding community was culturally enlightened enough to know of De Varenne and their position in society. At this point, he seriously doubted anyone knew what a proper croissant should taste like. Camille had made several new discoveries today, the majority of them for the worse. When he least expected it, after the sorting ceremony was over and he’d been assigned his house – luckily, in the opposite end of the castle from Juliette – was for some of these English girls to know who he was. Nothing that had happened this day had pointed to any awareness whatsoever about Camille’s talents or prestige, so with that in mind, it was a small consolation prize to have to deal with fans. He gladly entertained the entourage of girls throughout dinner, if you could call it that, talking about himself and the outrageous lack of acknowledgement he’d been greeted with (they all agreed), but as the night started to reach its conclusion, they showed no signs of retreating to their own chambers. Understandably, they wanted a piece of him, but Camille, for his own record, was sick and tired of his first day at boarding school. And this was only the first day out of seven years... If he survived that long, subjected to English food. Still wearing his practiced, picture perfect smile, Camille tried to smoothly find his exit in another long-spun rant about how perfect he looked in that centerfold in the French correspondance to Witch Weekly a few months back. Lost between being pulled in different directions, the first year had completely missed the guided tour to the Ravenclaw towers, and was yet to find his way to the common room and his assigned room. He could have scoffed at the observation, bemused. That he would look anything less than perfect simply didn’t exist; he couldn’t see why it was even worth commenting on, when it was so obvious. A boy of his upbringing, no matter how little faith his father put in him to act decent in public, knew better than to outwardly call out their idiocy. Instead he smiled, charmed as usual. When the conversation spun on to one of the girls hobbies, Camille couldn’t help but interrupt with a well-timed yawn. That’s how little interest he found in the topic. “As much as I would love to hear about- what did you call it? Gaming?" Some muggle activity, no doubt. Judging by his tone, the only thing he would love, was to get the hell out of here. "Does anyone know where I can find the Ravenclaw tower?” The girls glanced among themselves, looking as clueless as the rest. All of them were first years, and none of them Ravenclaws. Thank god, but that also meant they were all stuck here, looking like lost idiots until someone took pity upon them. |

| ── | It seemed Graci had forgotten how chaotic the Great Hall could be that first night. She loved it, but pitied the first years, that being their first impression of the school. It's so odd that I'm not the first year anymore. Eesh, has it already been a year? There were a lot of first years that year, though she figured it was a rather customary amount. Plenty of possible troublemakers. While she wasn't one to try and get detention, she always enjoyed stories of those who did. Entertaining, to say the least. Eeep, now I get to help the clueless first years. This is going to be awesome. Lo and behold, what could only be described as a gaggle of girls surrounding another first year boy. He was a bit shorter than herself, by only a matter of inches. She didn't recognize him, but that had to be terribly overstimulating to someone who had just endured a day of travel. For anyone in general, period. They went quiet for a second, the guy in the middle seemingly having asked a question. Awkward shuffling made Graci pity the group, unnecessary second hand embarrassment raging. A case of missing the guiding prefect, perhaps? They've just gone out... what a pity. "You guys all look a little lost. Did you not follow your prefects?" Not the best way she could have started it, but certainly efficient, getting straight to the point. She was tempted to say more, but opted to say nothing else, not knowing what she would say, and trying to break her habit of filling spaces that didn't need to be filled. Or something of that sort, she was still trying to figure out the tangled mess that was her brain. | xxx | ![]() |

| CV | Not more than a few seconds later, his escape route came in the form of an older girl, bearing a red crest on her robes. About damn time someone found them. Most of what had been said and done at the sorting ceremony had been a blur, to be honest. Between feeding his starving stomach and entertaining this lot, he couldn’t remember the introducting to the houses, nor the… interesting frog choir song. Camille had never seen singing frogs before, and it was clear now why. Frogs should not be singing, especially not anywhere near him. Either way, the red house was called Gryff-something? It didn’t matter, Camille wasn’t here to make aquaintances, he just needed escort to his bedroom. Which he still expected to be, perhaps not as luxurious as he would have liked, but at least a place to call his own while he was stuck at school. This girl looked nice enough, though it wouldn’t have stopped him from demanding things as he saw fit. Obviously, they hadn’t followed the prefects, or else they wouldn’t be standing out here like idiots. Camille resisted the urge to roll his eyes at her painfully obvious statement, instead he shook one girl's hand off his arm, sidestepped the rest of the group of girls in an attempt to get away, and turned to the (old) newcomer. He moved closer to her as if seeking shelter, albeit hiding the extent of his inconvenience behind a polished smile. “Indeed we did.” And it was all to blame on his entourage. “But thank god, you’re here now,” he said to the girl in a bit of exaggerated tone, sarcasm masked behind his usual, charming and dramatic flair. And a dazzling smile. He could almost hear the disappointment behind him. With his undevided attention now on the brunette, he might as well not have noticed. “I was just wondering where I could find the Ravenclaw tower. I assume you know your way around?” Between the lines saying, compared to these idiots, she should know where to take him. Because of course, he didn’t expect to be left standed in the corridors all night. |

| ── | Upon getting closer to the group it appeared to be the not-so-usual case of girls fawning over a guy. He seemed nice enough... at first. At first it seemed like he was being genuinely thankful, or sincere, or whatever the word was but... that seemed to not be the case. Graci liked to say that she was rather perceptive in conversations, it was either that or completely oblivious. But she was no stranger to sarcasm, however veiled. Oh dear. I don't think I can deal with a bratty person today. It was going to be such a great night. Maybe he won't be? Annoyance aside, she was genuinely impressed at how many times he could manage to not roll his eyes. That self restraint was legendary, if it were her, she would have lost that battle long ago. Much to the disdain of her parents. And anyone who had to be around her for long periods of time, pretty much. "You could say that, yeah." Graci really had no time for this sort of bull crap. "Follow me, then." She started down the hall, not waiting to see if he followed. He seemed like the sort of person that wouldn't care if the other girls couldn't find their dorms, and she would circle back later to make sure they weren't just standing there. She pointed the few Gryffindor girls in the right direction, taking pity on the poor saps. She couldn't do much for the other ones, though. Ravenclaw tower was not an often visited place in Graci's life. At all, really, but she knew where it was. The lonely first few months of exploring had paid off, sure enough. Graci was in more of a disdainful mood now, a rare occurrence for the usually bubbly girl. She had never fancied those who thought the world owed them something, or who thought that everyone had to stop whatever they were doing when they entered the room. She had some familiar relations like that, not that she'd seen them much. Only once, to be precise, but she immediately disliked them. Trying to not judge people from the first impression was exactly that, a goal, not a reality. | xxx | ![]() |

| CV | Usually when Camille flashed his blinding smile, girls either screamed, fainted or turned into putty in his hands. Pathetic, but useful when he needed something that he couldn’t be bothered to figure out or do himself. He hadn’t expected anything different this time around, seeing this girl didn’t have any reason to dislike him yet. Of course, there were plenty of people who disliked him for various reasons, though none Camille cared to investigate further. People simply couldn’t handle standing in someone elses shadow. Most of it, if not everything, he boiled down to jealousy and self-pity. With his name, beauty and talent, there were plenty of reasons someone ordinary would feel inadequate. Understanding it didn’t make being treated poorly any easier to tolerate. The response he received was short and straight to the point. Follow her. Exactly what he’d asked for, if the coolness in her tone hadn’t thrown him off. Camille blinked, staring after her, bewildered, when she without as much as a glance back or smile, walked off. Clearly without a care if he followed or not. Well, she did also instruct the Gryffindor first years which way to go, but they weren’t his concern. Picking his jaw off the floor, the french boy rationalized it. He must have interpreted it wrong. There was no way. The concept that someone, a stranger nobody, would be dismissive of him, and not the other way around, was unbeliavable to him. Still, he didn’t want to stand here all night, leaving him with no other choice but to follow her. The fake smile slipped back on his face long enough to spare the group of girls one last glance and polite goodbye, then fell back into a narrowed glare when Camille had to run after the Gryffindor down the hallway. Obviously, he didn't run after anyone, but he did have to lengthen his stride considerably to catch back up with her before he lost sight of her, his only help to the Ravenclaw tower. Realistically, they might have bumped into someone else sooner or later, but after walking for a while without running into another living soul, Camille was certain he would have had to wait all night. Other people's silence rarely bothered him, when few things they had to say was of any interest. The only difference this time, as they walked the endless corridor without a word being spoken, was that he got the feeling that something was left unsaid. Further confirmation that perhaps he'd read her correctly all along, though that left him wondering what her problem was. It couldn't possibly be him, when he'd acted nothing but polite this far. The awful train ride and dinner would have anyone in a sour mood. "I can clearly tell you'd rather be somewhere else. Some might consider being stuck with me a privilege, but I appreciate the help regardless. The day has been awful for everyone, I'm sure," he acknowledged the silence and tension, but was ultimately willing to excuse her this once. "What's your name?" It was only appropriate to know when he was forced in such close proximity to her. |

| ── | Graci liked to think of herself as a kind soul, not one to be rude off the bat, and one that helped other people for no other reason than that they needed help. Aptly described as 'neutral good'. Though, that was if she was more of a side character, and she thought of herself as the main character in her own story, and surmised that this boy thought the exact same of himself. Probably more so than she did, even. Pull yourself together, Graci, you're only helping him, and rather readily, too. In all truth, she didn't know why she was helping him, only that she felt slightly compelled to. Some of her friends from the past year must have already been re-convening and catching each other up on their summers. The non-summer camp parts, at least. But there she was, helping a boy she didn't know out of an odd, sheer obligation. So off she went, down the corridors to Ravenclaw tower. She heard the unmistakable sound of him following her, steps resounding through the now empty spaces. Graci hoped she wasn't being too rude for a first meeting and silently decided to be more civil. Fake smiles were familiar to her, having been the one giving them most of the time when she was trying to reassure her parents that she was fine, even when she felt starkly separate from the rest of them. But this boy's fake smiles were different. Almost as if he was born to preform and entertain. Having heard enough about Purebloods, she was pretty sure he was born into a life of performance, though an entitled one. She had looked back, once, but only to see the fake smiles he gave the girls, but she had quickly turned back around, keeping up a semi-mature front. It would have been a lie to say she was perfectly comfortable with the silence, but she had nothing to say. Well, there were many things she could have said, but it would only show how anxious she was in social situations. A great relief it was when he spoke up. "I'd assume you would also be somewhere else, as well. I mean, I could be chatting with my friends right now, and I almost wish I could be back home with Zoe and my Parents. Though even if I could, Zoe wouldn't be there. And if I were more introverted I would have found today tiring, but I actually do enjoy talking to people." Graci still missed Zoe, no matter how long they had been apart since the beginning of that summer. Zoe was a subject Graci figured she shouldn't bring up right away, but when one's mind so persistently led somewhere, their mouths would follow. "My name is Graci, and I am usually referred to by some sort of nickname with friends. And you are? Or am I supposed to know that? By the way you carry yourself I figure you'd think I should know already." | xxx | ![]() |

| CV | Dismissive tone aside, the girl wasn’t entirely terrible as first impression might have suggested. She lacked manners, of course— everyone knew it was impolite to refer to someone the second half of the conversation had no knowledge of. Zoe meant nothing to him, she should have realized. Perhaps it was family, in the context of missing her parents. Lacking interest to inquire more, Camille didn’t ask any further questions. Still, he was beginning to understand that he would have to get used to such gracelessness within these castle walls. Camille couldn’t exactly relate to missing his family, but he could understand, after this eventful day, to say the least, what it was like missing the comfort of ones home. “Of course I’d be somewhere else. In my room, sleeping soundly, if I hadn’t gotten distracted. As I assume anyone in their right mind would be at this hour.” Camille answered dryly. No one would wander lost in the corridor out of their own free will. It was wildly inconvenient. Graci’s little jab about him taking his own indentity too seriously did not go by unnoticed, but Camille chose to not take it to heart this time. Picking a fight with a girl, one who - despite her rudeness - was helpful enough to show him the way to the Ravenclaw tower would be improper. He had to assume she was leading him the right way. The girl could have played him for a fool for all he knew, wasted his time further without the knowledge of the castle to call her bluff. Camille glanced at her side-ways, chuckling unhumored. “If you had any interest in highly prestiged performance arts, then yes, you would have to have lived underneath a rock to not know of De Varenne. But at this school, you’re in… company.” Not necessarily good company, but company nevertheless. “I realize this might not be the right scene to expect the recognition I’m accustomed to. You can just call me Camille, if you wish.” He replied, far from humbled, rather resigned and turned his gaze forward again, letting the silence settle between them for a minute. Upon rounding another corner, facing yet another long corridor ahead of them, Camille started to feel tired by the never-ending walk. At least this time, there were stairs, offering some distinction from the previous monotony. His previous assumption that she wasn’t just leading him on, just to humiliate him by having him trek the whole grounds, resurfaced. “How far is the walk to the Ravenclaw tower?” If this truly was the way, how did they expect him to walk this way every day just to get to breakfast. |

| ── | Graci could practically feel the judgement rolling off of him in waves, like one tsunami of pompous disgust. It made her feel self conscious enough to want to pull the 'sorry for my poor manners, could I re-introduce myself?' card. "I see how that would be plausible, yes. Excuse me for my supposed lack of common sense." Graci matched energy in her encounters, so she could go for dry humour. She was never great at it, and it usually came off as overly sarcastic or rude, but she was pretty sure he already thought she was one if not both of those things. When will I learn? I feel as though I've had enough interactions of this nature to know how to introduce myself. Mentally shaking her head, she focused back in on the conversation, deciding that she could be embarrassed and think about self-betterment later. By now she was wishing he was more of a light hearted funny person, though she didn't mind either way, it was her fault for being incompetent during conversations. "I always thought the performing arts to be rather intriguing, but musical theatre is much more my speed. Do you dance? Sing, perhaps?" Graci was trying to be a better conversationalist, even for the minute more. "And to me it seems like you get recognition, even if not what you're used to. It is lovely to meet you, Camille. Also, it should be less than a minute, then a lot of stairs, obviously. If you ever happen to be lost and see me again, I'll gladly help. Then again, maybe you wouldn't want to talk to someone with such poor manners." Graci was usually a fast walker, but when she was talking she slowed down much more, usually speaking with her hands, and rather animatedly at that. Not that evening, though. She was still walking slower, but not using her hands. She had a feeling that would just be another thing that was judge-able. | xxx | ![]() |

| CV | Though not off to the ideal start, it sounded like Graci was trying to improve her presence and his impression of her, an effort he appreciated, whether imagined or not. His own areas of expertise, subjects he rarely tired of elaborating upon, as long as the person asking wasn’t completely stupid, were matters he naturally enjoyed conversing about. Her further inquiries— whether born out of genuine interest or little more than polite filler— had the immediate effect of lightening the atmosphere. Against his own expectations, Camille felt himself beginning, in some small and reluctant way, to warm to her company, and not solely, as had so often been the case in his dealings with others, for the convenience of the service she provided. Though, he was still relieved to hear that the walk wasn’t that much further. Camille didn’t mind her company, that did not automatically mean that he wished to spend the rest of his evening walking with her for the sake of hanging out. The self-depreciting joke on the behalf of her own manners, also did its part. Camille smiled, an understated and genuine smile, finding humor in her self-awareness and ability to not take things to seriously. An ability he himself lacked, but thought was kind of admirable… sometimes. Most of all it was true to some degree. He could have entertained someone with better manners, someone who acknowledged the privilege of walking along side someone like him and didn’t disregard him without a glance, but if he was only needing help navigating the castle, Graci was still a viable option. “I might still call for you, if you’re lucky.” Camille cast her a sidelong glance, the faintest curve of a smile tugging at his lips. The words were teasing, though his tone carried the lazy arrogance of someone who thought summoning her assistance was a favor in itself. Camille didn’t believe that she genuinely thought it would be. Though some people with not enough self-respect, with the exception of Graci and his annoying cousin, among other nuisances he’d been forced to make acquaintance today alone, would agree. “I mainly dance, yes. And I sing as well. Sometimes I do acting. That might include musical theatre in the future, but as of right now, my stage performances are limited to ballet and solos.” The list could go on and on, with the amount of artistic pursuits his father had enrolled him in. “I suppose you could call my talents… versatile.” Pride could not hide the fact that the boy sounded tired just speaking about it. “What about you?” he asked, mildly curious now when she’d showed to have something, even as insignificant as muscial threatre, in common with him. "Any talents of your own I should remember you by?” Humoroulsy, he added: "Except guiding lost first years around the castle." |

| ── | The thing about Hogwarts's long hallways was that it took forever to get places, but it also felt like a dreadfully short time to have an actual conversation. Graci didn't spare it much thought, of course, it wasn't like she would be having deep heartfelt conversations with this boy, so there was no point in thinking it unfortunate that it would end. In all truth, she just liked the feeling of talking. Not hearing her own voice, no, she wasn't that vain, but the way it felt like she was actually there, it grounded her, in a sense. Which sounded weird when she actually thought about it, but maybe she was just looking for connection. After all, that is all people really long for in life. One of many things. It did help, though, that she was genuinely interested in what his hobbies were, something you could tell a lot about a person from. People in general had a lot of tells, even the lack of showing anything was one. Graci figured finding out who people were would help avoid those who would bring hurt to her life, something she tried to avoid like a proverbial plague. His actual, genuine smile, however slight, startled her a little bit. Not really, as she didn't break her stride at all as you would suspect of someone shocked. It was more a feeling of joy that she could make someone even the slightest bit less uncomfortable. To her, in their limited interaction, he seemed like someone who didn't loose composure for something so simple as a laugh. She wasn't under the guise he appreciated her company to any degree, but at least he wasn't talking down to her? Graci chuckled a bit at his comment, bordering on a scoff, though the lack of notable disdain rendered the second prospect null. She was not a creature of malice, or rather, she tried not to be. Intrigued was the first word that would come to mind when you went to describe how she felt. Camille's hobbies were much more interesting than her own, having an artistic flairs hers lacked. Graci's seemed rather mundane, in fact, compared to his. She paid rapt attention to his words, dancing and singing were admirable things to enjoy, fitting to the boy beside her. One most likely having grown up preforming, both in words and hobbies. "That is so cool, I personally don't have enough balance or coordination to dance, but I enjoy singing from time to time. But seriously, that's impressive." Graci figured he took compliments well, though maybe that was just a hunch. Starting her second sentence with a preposition wasn't her best choice, making it more of a fragment than anything, but it wasn't grammar class, so it had to be okay, right? Oh dear, what are my hobbies? She didn't have many, as her days were usually comprised of school and conversing with friends. "Well, I like to read, fiction mostly. I enjoy baking. I play the trumpet, and mum said she might give me piano lessons this summer. I like to draw, as well, though I'm quite terrible at it." A little lost in thought, she smiled into space fondly, before slightly skating her head, and stopping in front of the stairwell. "I trust you know how to go up stairs?" They had already gone up a few flights to get to where they were, so she knew he did, but it was her attempt at putting in a last quip before going back to her own common room. | xxx | ![]() |
