Reeses! You Did It! You Stumped This Charming Devil! pv

A curious, tingling sensation rushed through Joseph as the Nurse pointed his wand straight at him.

Nothing happened. He blinked, checking to see if he'd sprouted yeti fur or had his hair replaced by a cluster of rotting fungus. Nothing of that sort. If anything, he was still very much Joseph. Awkward, silly, foolish Joseph.

Then he noticed what was wrong.

The numbness.

It seemed as though every nerve in his body had suddenly malfunctioned, leaving him in a shocked, deadened state. The world was dull. Senseless. The memory of touch and texture felt absurd, like a distant fantasy that couldn't possibly exist.

Everything felt wrong. Like a brush of air that felt like sandpaper. A voice that sounded like it was coming through water.

Almost as though he was trapped in a hollow statue.

No, not a statue, Joseph thought, noticing the Nurse's panic-stricken look.

Realisation dawned on him. Cold horror seeped into his bones, sending a shudder down his spine.

Biting his lip, Joseph reached forward towards the others, trying to test his theory. His fingers found nothing, just boring, stale vacuum. The world outside looked so real, so vibrant. Yet so out of reach. Like it was a whole different medium altogether, impossible to ever enter.

He felt absolutely stuck. And he wasn't sure if it had more to do with the frames that held him hostage or wave of powerlessness washing over him.

"The Nurse knows what's best," Joseph repeated under his breath, relieved that he hadn't lost his ability to speak. His mantra would be a lot easier to believe if the Nurse didn't look panicked enough to burst into tears.

"Uh, so, how long am I gonna be stuck here for?" Joseph asked, hoping the rest could hear him. Other than maybe tentacle-headed Siobhan.

Hopefully it wouldn't be long. It sure wasn't fun feeling like a lifeless security camera peeking into the outside world.
