Color of the Night Sky
The evening was always the most peaceful time in Hogwarts, many students would return to their own House common rooms chatting with friends in front of the fireplace, playing Wizard chess together, some reading books or simply just wanted to enjoy the warmth from the fire. However, there was one student who did something unexpected that caught most people’s attention. A girl with a personalized style of buns left the Gryffindor common room in a hurry as if she forgot something important. What was odd to them was that the Gryffindor girl wasn’t just any student, it was one of their House Prefect, Griseldis Edelhardt. It was quite rare to see a Prefect going out from their dorm room when it was almost curfew or perhaps it was her time to patrol? Nobody knew so they all continued their activities in peace.

The Corridors
“I hope I’m not too late before the Professor arrives there, it’ll be very embarrassing if he gets there sooner before I can place it.”, Griseldis mumbled under the red and yellow scarf while she was on her way to a certain destination, she could feel the cold air on her cheeks and she could also smell the fresh snow around her. In her arms, she seemed to hug it very tightly as if it was something very precious.
This year had been very eventful compared to her first year in Hogwarts. There were good times and there were also bad times but to the Gryffindor girl, it was still something she would gladly cherish it and only saw it as an important learning experience. However, becoming the Prefect of her prideful House of the lions was one of her greatest achievement so far.

The Great Lake
And when Griseldis heard about a new errand called “Secret Santa” that was hosted from the Herbology Professor and the Hufflepuff Prefect. She was super excited and went to sign up for the errand as fast as she could before all the slots are filled up because there are only seventeen Professors in Hogwarts. It only took a few days later after the signup, Griseldis received a letter from a school owl in her dorm room while she was reading a Muggle book about astrology on the bed. When Griseldis opened the letter and saw the familiar name on the paper, she was overjoyed when she was informed that she was going to be this person's “Secret Santa”. It was not Griseldis’s first time getting a gift to a teacher, but this time it would be different and this teacher was no ordinary teacher at all. It was their Astronomy teacher, Professor Alaric Equinox.
The Astronomy Professor was very handsome and there was always a mysterious aura around him that would make most people curious about him. Griseldis often enjoyed Professor Equinox’s Astronomy lessons because he seemed to be very passionate about the subject and knew a lot about the stars. There was also an incident she heard a while ago after the disastrous Masquerade Ball that Professor Equinox helped the 3rd year Ravenclaw student who she happened to know was Kaegen Deathmote, though it was odd for him to bite the Professor’s arm. However, she was only glad that both of them were fine. They were very lucky for leaving the ballroom sooner before the chaos could fall upon them. Now, what should she give for the gentleman like Professor who loved the stars and the night so much as a suitable Christmas gift?
The Gryffindor girl decided to take a walk at the Great Lake and think about it. Quite areas could help her focus and at the same time, relaxing near nature might help her become more creative and be more inspired. She wanted to give the Astronomy Professor something unique, something useful, something that could symbolize the things he loved or something that could remind him of. It should be a gift that was timeless. Griseldis had her head looking down but still continued walking beside the lake. While she was deep in her thoughts, she immediately stopped when she saw a feather on the ground, “Huh? A feather?”, she kneeled down to pick it up and examined the feather. It was a big size feather and a very clean one without any stain of mud on it. The dark color of the feather reminded her of the night sky somehow…wait!? Griseldis suddenly had an idea of what kind of a gift she could give to the Professor, “I can make this into a quill pen!”, she shouted out of excitement.
Making a quill pen didn’t really require a lot of tools, all she needed was a marker and a small cutter knife she borrowed from a House elf, some light brown wrapping papers, strings, and a thin box that had the perfect size to fit a quill pen. She even picked up some pinecones and a few needle leaves from the forest. At the moment, Griseldis took the opportunity to use an empty classroom and began to craft the feather she found by the lake into a quill pen.

The Classroom
Griseldis already did her homework and read the tutorial about how to make a quill pen, she first had to strip the feathers from the bottom of the shaft to make the pen easier to handle. After that, she used the cutter knife and began to scrap the Membrane carefully. At this point, she turned the quill so that the shaft could arc downward. And once she found the bottom of the quill barrel it only took her a few minutes to cut the tip of the quill an acute angle. After that, she needed to remove the quick out that was inside. She did the second cut that followed the direction of the first cut but it was in a more shorter and at a blunter angle. Then the final cut was to create a slit. When the cuts were done, she still had to shape the tip a little bit in a chisel edge for broad, calligraphic lines. Finally, a newborn quill pen had been created.
Arriving at the top of the Astronomy Tower, Griseldis quickly looked around the whole area and luckily there was no one there yet, at least not Professor Equinox. She wrote a message and let a school owl send it to him this morning, informing him to come at night in the Astronomy Tower and that there was something there for him to see. The reason why she didn’t let her own owl Crystal sent the message it was because Professor Equinox might recognize whose owl it belonged to, she was the Secret Santa after all and should keep it as a secret. Griseldis placed the wrapped gift on one of the stone stairs that lead to the huge golden telescope. Then she took out a palm-size card out of her pocket and gently placed it on top of the gift. The young “Secret Santa” smiled confidentially to herself, she believed that without any doubt that the Astronomy Professor could find the gift on such an obvious spot. Griseldis left the Astronomy Tower, carrying hope within her heart.

The Astronomy Tower
@Alaric Equinox would arrive in the Astronomy Tower, he should be able to spot a gift on the stone stairs, wrapped in light brown paper, tied in slightly curly strings and had some Christmas decorations with green needle leaves and two tiny pinecones on it. Someone even left a few star shaped cookies on the gift as well. The Professor would see the card and read what was written on it:
Dear Professor Equinox,
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I hope you will like this Christmas gift I made for you, I won't say what it is though but I can give you only one hint that the color of this gift has the same color like your dark hair, reminds me of the beautiful Night Sky. Your passion for the stars motivated me to learn more about them, your lessons were always so interesting and felt so magical at the same time. Thank you for being such a wonderful Astronomy Professor and I can't wait to participate your Astronomy lessons after the Holidays again.
Season Greetings,
Your "Secret Santa"
