A Little Help, Please?

Adora walked out to the courtyard, her satchel thumping her side as she walked. She hoped to get some of her homework done, even though a lot of it confused her. So far, her first year had been good socially, and okay academically. She sat down on a bench, and opend her satchel. She struggled to pull her Charms homework out, trying not to get her other assignments on the grass. Her hair fell down into her face, so she pulled it back with a hair tie. As she dug through, she realized how confused she was. She barley understood potions, she'd only met a couple people, and she didn't know the halls very well. She sat up straight, and began to work. Of all the subjects, Adora understood Charms the easiest. She knew that by the end of the year, she'd have the highest marks in Charms of all her classes. She scratched her quill on a practice sheet, just to get it running, and began to work. The purpose of... Nope. Horrible. She scratched it out, and grabbed a new sheet of parchment. The spell... Yes. That sounded much more like her. She set her parchment in her lap, and sighed. She was never going to get this done. There didn't seem to be many people in the courtyard today. She wanted to ask one of them for help, but didn't want to bother anyone. So she just sat there. Trying to think of a way to continue her essay.

A Little Help, Please?
Ellie walked out to the courtyard, needing some fresh air. It was a nice Saturday, the sun was shining and there was a slight breeze in the air. Her year had been generally good so far, the classes weren't too much harder. But some things seemed different. It was strange not being the youngest anymore. Now they were the second youngest. Now they had to be role models. Maybe not the ones that most first years would look up to but still, that had to set an example, no more playing around.
Ellie had reached the courtyard and sat down at a fountain, not noticing there was already someone sitting there. Last year this had been her favorite spot to think and remember. The sound of the water in the fountain helped to cool her brain. Today her brain couldn't help but go back to her Grandma, no matter how many times she tried to tell it to stop. She looked around the courtyard, finally noticing a girl next to her who was seemingly stuck on something. The girl was staring at a piece of paper, quill in hand. Ellie looked at the paper. The Charms essay. Ellie remembered that. She loved Charms and her brain understood them well, but that essay had been hard! She noticed the girl had a lot of crumped sheets of parchment next to her. Maybe I can help! Ellie thought.
"Hey, you stuck?" She asked, knowing the answer would be yes, "I can help you if you would like?"
She had asked to help someone. Ellie had felt proud, her first time helping someone younger then her at school!

A Little Help, Please?

Adora looked up at the girl, who was asking if she need help. She had long blond hair, which shielded her eyes from the bright sun that was nearly blinding Adora. Lucky. Its brighter than the traffic cones on our street out here, She thought. Maybe the sun was the reason she couldn't focus. Adora quickly made room for her, shoving the messed-up essays into her satchel, and brushed any excess dirt off. She tossed her satchel next to the bench, and she inwardly cringed as the books inside thumped from the impact.
Dazed, Adora turned to face the girl again. "Thank you so much, it feels like I've been doing this for hours!" She said, chuckling a little. Now that she had given herself a chance to get a good look at the girl, Adora thought maybe she was a little older. Definitely not a fourth year or anything, but maybe a second year? Aside form her hair, the girl was also extremely pretty. She quickly wiped her quill on a napkin, cleaning the flaky, dryed ink off. Adora leaned forward to dip her quill into her ink bottle, tapping it on the edge so the writing didn't run. She headed it the way her professor had showed her and her class, carefully writing her name the the date underneath in the top right corner. She turned to the girl and said. "Thanks again. I'm Adora."

A Little Help, Please?
The girls books fell down and Ellie decided to help her by picking them up. Ellie reached down and grabbed the books for her. They were all class books and Ellie recognized them from last year. She placed them next to the girl and Ellie sat down.
"Thank you so much! It feels like I've been doing this for hours!" The girl said with what seemed like a small laugh. Ellie knew that feeling all too well. Homework was challenging and just when you felt you were finally going at a constant rate, something gets confusing or you realize all your answers were wrong. Homework always seemed to be one step forward, and three steps back.
"Oh yeah, no problem. I remember doing this last year. And charms had always been easy for me, yet that essay had been really, really hard! I'm Ellie Randensmith by the way." Ellie said, smiling at the girl.
Learning charms? Easy. Ellie loved Charms so much. Writing a essay about charms? Not so easy. It was hard to choose what you wanted to write about and then trying to get it to make sense. Essays where always challenging for Ellie. "No problem, what part are you stuck on Adora? That's a pretty name by the way. Never heard it before." Ellie said to the girl after the girl had told her her name.

A Little Help, Please?
The two girls seemed to be getting along really well. Though Adora still didnt know her name. She certainly recognized the girl, even if very slightly. Now that she was situated and ready, she moved over to the left side of the bench to make room for the girl. Adora reached up to pull her hair out of its bun, despite knowing it would get in the way. Better that than be nearly blinded by the sun. It poofed out all over the place, calming down after Adora gave it a good shake-out. That always worked.
She and the girl worked on her essay, and they really got into a roll... Sort of. Adorable understood little to none of what the essay as supposed to be on, so trying to decide what she wanted to write wasn't easy-as if she already wasn't bad at writing! But they worked, together, and this girls help was exactly that but more; it was a HUGE help, something Adore definitely wouldn't have started without. She could talk God the girl easily, like an old friend. An old friend she didn't know the name of. That was certainly important! "I'm Adora, and what is your name?"
