Frederick’s heart hammered in his chest as he crossed the threshold of Hogwarts for the very first time. The castle had loomed from afar on the boat ride, dark and towering against the night sky, but standing inside its ancient halls was something else entirely. The air was cool and smelled faintly of stone and wax. Torches flared along the walls, their flames bending and crackling in the draft, making the shadows dance. Freddy craned his neck, freckles tightening as he tried to take in every vaulted arch, every mysterious corridor that branched into the unknown.
Dozens of other first years clustered around him, their whispers echoing softly against the stone. Some looked pale and nervous, others jittery with excitement, but none of them seemed able to keep still. Fred wasn’t frightened, at least, not exactly. It was more like his stomach had filled with fluttering, restless energy, making it impossible to stay steady on his feet. He shifted his weight from one side to the other, eyes flicking from the moving staircases above to the flickering torches lining the hall. Everything seemed alive, brimming with possibility.
He tried to imagine what awaited them beyond the great doors ahead. Gryffindor like his parents? Ravenclaw, maybe, if the hat liked cleverness. The idea of Slytherin made him grin nervously, his mother would probably faint. But more than the name of a house, what Fred wanted most was to belong here, to sneak through hidden corridors, discover secret rooms, make friends, become a great wizard and weave himself into the stories he’d only ever heard.
At last, the crowd of first years was gently gathered into a line in front of the enormous doors to the Great Hall. Fred rubbed his clammy palms on his robes, the corners of his mouth tugging upward in a nervous grin. He leaned forward, stretching his neck to catch glimpses of the hall beyond when the doors creaked open slightly, spilling golden light across the floor. At the same time, his eyes darted along the row of students beside him, searching for any familiar face from the train, or anywhere, really.

Little lions feast
As Lilith's gaze roamed on the other first years, she tried to hide her nervousness. The black haired girl had just stepped foot into the Great Hall for the very first time. Lilith kept her hands clamped on her robe, taking slow breaths so she wouldn't look stressed. Everything is in the first impression, said her grand mother somewhere in her mind. Lilith lived by that since she was six. Straightening up, she looked around. The room was absolutly gorgeous. She had never seen something like that. She kept trying to look confident, but the way she was biting her lip betrayed her worry.
Questions started to dance in her mind, the first being where would she get sorted. Anything was fine to her, though her family, especially her grand parents, would prefer Ravenclaw or Slytherin. She wasn't especially a fan of Ravenclaw, but she didn't mind Slytherin, though she didn't believe she belonged there.
She took place in the line of first years. The crowd of new students was buzzing like a swarm of bees. Suddenly, she caught sight of someone familiar. No way. Her lips immediatly curled into a grin as she recognized the boy she had met in Diagon Alley. She suppressed a chuckle, recalling the incident at Weasley's Wizards Wheezes. What was his name again ? Frederick.
Waving, she tried to get his attention. She was slightly smaller than the girl just in front of her, so she had to do little jumps, hoping the boy would see her.
"Frederick ! Hey !"

Frederick blinked, startled at the sound of his name bouncing across the crowd of first years. He turned his head, brow furrowing, then spotted a small figure hopping up and down like she was trying to fight against the tide of taller students. It took him a second, then his eyes lit up. “No way,” he muttered, grinning as recognition hit.
Shuffling sideways, he craned his neck to see past the row of kids in front of him. Yep. It was her. The girl from Diagon Alley, the one he caused a mess with at Weasleys’ shop, and then they ran off to get away. Freddy couldn’t help but chuckle at the memory.
Without thinking twice, he slipped out of his spot in line, dodging between two nervous-looking boys until he finally reached her side. “Lilith, right?” he said, his grin wide, his tone warm with relief at finding someone familiar. “It's nice to see a familiar face around here.”
He leaned closer, eyes sparkling with mischief. “Imagine if one of those candy boxes from Weasleys’ just exploded right now, with everyone packed in this line?” He gave a short laugh, shaking his head. His eyes darted toward the Sorting Hat at the front, then back at her, bright with excitement. “Kinda crazy that it’s actually happening, huh?” Even though he didn’t know the girl very well, he felt good having her presence during the ceremony. He wouldn’t be able to explain the feeling, nor would he try, but being able to share such a symbolic moment with someone was something special.
