Lilith entered the Great Hall for breakfast. The initial awe that she felt when she was first sorted had yet to die down. Today the ceiling had fluffy clouds making beautiful abstract shapes. She sat down at the Ravenclaw table in front of heap of pancakes. She piled a stack in front of her and smothered them in butter and syrup. She was about to eat a bite when a flock of owls came swooping down the hall. There was variety of owls flying down: Snowy owls, tawny owls, barn owls. Down at the end of the flock, she could see an Eastern Screech Owl that looked a lot like her Aunt's owl Sebastian. She could see a letter neatly tied on his leg. As he approached her and dropped a letter in her lap, she was certain that he was Sebastian. He landed in front of her so she gave him a quick pat on the head. He gave a hoot of approval and flew off to the Owlery. She looked at the letter in front of her. She could see her Aunt's fancy handwriting scrawled on top. She opened the letter.
Dear Lilith,
I'm glad that you made it to Hogwarts! I hope the train ride was pleasant and you have met some new friends. I was very excited to hear that you were sorted into Ravenclaw! That was my house when I was at Hogwarts. You are going to love it! Please continue to write to me. I would love to hear more about your classes and friends!
From Aunt Evangelina
Lilith was glad that someone else in her family had been sorted into Ravenclaw. She was hoping that she would live up to what the house stood for. She felt bad for not sending her Aunt more post. She would have to write her a letter soon. Another letter fell into her lap. When she looked at writing on the letter, her heart skipped a beat. She wasn't ready to read it yet so she stuffed it into her robe pocket and started to eat her breakfast.

Ever since the Sorting Ceremony – no, before that, even; when he had first found out about the four houses – Jack had wondered what the differences were between Slytherin and Ravenclaw. Aubrie, who had described them to him as her father had to her, had said that Hufflepuff was for hard workers, Gryffindor was for the brave, Slytherin was for the clever, and Ravenclaw was for the intelligent. Aubrie herself had admitted to not knowing the difference between the latter two, however, and as she had been sorted into the same house as her father had – Hufflepuff – he doubted she could have shed more light on that matter than she already had.
When he had talked to the Sorting Hat, it had said something about Ravenclaws only seeking knowledge for the sake of simply knowing, but Jack didn’t understand that. Why would someone want to learn something if it wasn’t going to be of any use to them? There had to be more to the house of Ravenclaw than that. There were so many other questions he also wanted to ask them, such as why their mascot was an eagle instead of a raven, but so far he hadn’t yet met a single Ravenclaw during his time at Hogwarts, so he hadn’t been able to ask. He understood they were probably a more introverted group who preferred books to socializing with people, but they couldn’t all be like that, and not all the time, right? Humans were social creatures by nature, after all.
Noticing a girl who looked about his age sitting at her house table as she ate her breakfast, Jack walked over to her and tapped her on the shoulder. He was surprised to notice her eagerness to stuff what appeared to be an unopened letter into her pocket, but decided it wasn't his business to comment on.
"Hi there," he greeted, leaning against the table. "I've been meaning to ask - would you happen to know what personality traits supposedly separate Slytherins and Ravenclaws?"

Penelope ran into the great hall. She had been late repeatedly, if she was late for breakfast one more time, she might as well skip the meal all together! She sat down at the Ravenclaw table next to a girl with blue hair and blue eyes. She had seen her sometimes around the common room, but not much. The morning post came in, and Penelope got a few letters. She looked through them. One was from her brother, William. Another was a Christmas card of her Aunt and Uncle from Ireland. The final piece of mail was a large package containing the biggest science book ever.
Penelope put the book in her bag, and opened the letter from her brother. It read:
Your dearest brother Will
Penelope folded up the letter and put it un her bag. She was about to butter some toast that was in front of her, calling her name, when a boy with red hair leaned against the table. "Hi there, I've been meaning to ask - would you happen to know what personality traits supposedly separate Slytherins and Ravenclaws?"
Penelope took a sip of milk and choked on it. Why would he ask this question? For some unknown reason to even herself, Penelope started laughing. Slytherins and Ravenclaws where nothing alike.
"I'm sorry, I don't mean to be rude. I was just wondering why you are asking us instead of asking one of your own house? The difference is Slytherins do things to impress, while Ravenclaw just want to learn." She wasn't completely sure the boy was talking to her, but if he was, Penelope had just answered his question. If not, she had made a complete fool of herself.
Edit OOC: If you cannot see the weird symbols and numbers next to some of the words, this is completely pointless, but there are lots of small children running around my house right now, with a need to touch anything that might be of any importance, so I apologize. I am not sure how to take them out,(the symbols, not the children) because they disappear when I go to edit it. Sorry!

Dear Penny,
How are you? I hope to see you soon, are you coming home this Christmas? I understand if you are not, with all of those friends you have at Hogwarts, but please, think about it. I have news for you! I have bought an apartment of my own. It is in a muggle complex, and it is far away from your old neighborhood. The fortunate thing is, you can do all the magic you want when you are on break, because I do magic too. They will never know! That is all the news I have for now, write back!

Lilith was joined by a brown-haired girl at the Ravenclaw table. She knew that she had seen her around as they were both First Years in Ravenclaw but had not been formerly introduced. Lilith was about to introduce herself when a red-haired boy with a Slytherin badge on his robes came over to the table. He leaned on their table and started to talk.
Lilith replied, "I don't really know that much about what separates Ravenclaws from Slytherin. I only started at Hogwarts recently. Maybe its something that we will see when we are older. But I think that there is learning from just knowing things and learning so that you can fulfill your ambition? Is there a reason why you are asking? By the way, my name is Lilith. What's yours?"

Lilith was about to introduce herself when a red-haired boy with a Slytherin badge on his robes came over to the table. He leaned on their table and started to talk.
Lilith was a little stunned at the question. She had never met him before and she had just started at Hogwarts herself. How would she know the answer to such a philosophical question. The girl sitting next her seem to have a similar response, choking on a gulp of milk. Lilith, kindly, tapped on her back to try to help her out. When the brown-haired girl finally was able to catch her breath, she replied to the boy's question.Hi there. I've been meaning to ask - would you happen to know what personality traits supposedly separate Slytherins and Ravenclaws?
Lilith tried to think about the response a bit more. Her only knowledge about Slytherin really came from her parents. Slytherin seem to produce a lot of evil wizards and witches so it was hard to really think about how they were then similar to Ravenclaws. She was glad that she was not sorted into Slytherin so if by chance Ravenclaws are similar to Slytherins then maybe she did not really escape. But she did not want to rude to the boy by not giving some sort of response.I'm sorry, I don't mean to be rude. I was just wondering why you are asking us instead of asking one of your own house? The difference is Slytherins do things to impress, while Ravenclaw just want to learn.

Though the girl he first meant to ask wasn’t the first one to reply, Jack wasn’t bothered. They were both Ravenclaws, after all. Grinning at the brunette, the Slytherin boy responded to her inquiry with another question of his own. “What makes you think I haven’t already asked one of my own house? Just because I get an answer from one person doesn’t mean it’s the only answer out there.
“I like to gather different peoples’ perspectives to form a bigger picture. And while another Slytherin may have their own insight from what their parents might have told them or what they’ve heard from other students, a Ravenclaw’s opinion is likely to be very different. You might have thought of some aspect that a Slytherin wouldn’t have.”
When the first girl – the blue-haired one - chimed in, the boy shrugged. “I know a lot of students who have started here recently but seem to have heard a lot about the houses from their parents, siblings, and teachers, so I thought I’d ask just in case you lot had heard something I hadn’t. But I think you two are on to something. The Sorting Hat said something along those lines to me. I just…wasn’t sure I believed it.”
His brows furrowed in contemplation. “I was asking because I didn’t know how someone could want to know something just for the sake of knowing it. What’s the point, then, of having all that information? Are you just planning to keep accumulating it and storing it up and never using it? Isn’t that kind of a waste of your intelligence and wisdom?”
When the other girl introduced her name before asking his, the redhead supposed he at least owed her for having supplied her own. “Name’s Jack,” he told her. “Another thing – would either of you happen to know why your house’s mascot is an eagle and not a raven?”

"Oh, of course. Alright. Are you going to put together a survey or something?" said Penelope jokingly. She took a sip of her water. "Oh, my name is Penelope bye the way." She said. Penelope held out her hand for a handshake to both of them, the boy and the girl. She took a sip of her water, listening intently to what the boy had to say. She felt like a newspaper reporter, and she was excited to get the practice. She wanted a to write a newspaper when she grew up. She squirmed in her seat, a sign she had a great idea.
Penelope didn't have an answer for that, so she sat there, trying to find the answer. For one thing, it was always nice to know something if you could come across it in later years. For another, it was sort of a waste of space in your brain. Couldn't you use the space for something else? She contemplated this for awhile, zoning out.
Penelope chimed in once Jack, the boy, asked,
"Well, Rowena Ravenclaw couldn't control her last name, so maybe the Raven was some sort of family animal, and she wanted to keep her family out of the school? I'm not sure, but I know who you have to ask. The Grey Lady. She'll have all your answers. She's the daughter of Rowena Ravenclaw. Although, I wouldn't mention her mother. It's kind of a sore subject for her. Especially because she was killed by the man who was taking her to her mother." She desperately wanted some adventure and wanted to go, so she added, "Now would be a better time than ever. We could all go. On an adventure!" She pulled her bag to her under her feet and got the handles ready so she could pick it up easily.
She would either embarrass herself from getting too excited, or have an amazing adventure with her new 'friends.' Could she call these people her friends? she asked herself thoughtfully. She really hoped she could.

Lilith found herself in a rather unexpected situation. The Slytherin boy, who had introduced himself as Jack, seemed rather adamant on getting answers to his questions. Lilith guessed that he must be muggle-born. He seemed to think that parents would really talk about the houses in specifics to their children. To be fair, both her parents had been sorted into Slytherin so she only got one perspective. He really seemed to have some Slytherin traits, especially his resolve. At least he did not seem to be mean.
"I think there is something fun about learning new things. And its nice to share that with other people. You don't always have to read about things with a certain goal in mind," Lilith replied.
The girl next to her, named Penelope, seemed to be rather enthusiastic. She had a lot of knowledge on the history of Rowena Ravenclaw and wanted to help the boy get his questions answered. She had suggested that they talk with the Grey Lady. She seemed really eager to go, pulling her bag from under her feet.
"Okay! Let's go!"
Lilith thought about an answer to his question. What’s the point, then, of having all that information? Are you just planning to keep accumulating it and storing it up and never using it? Isn’t that kind of a waste of your intelligence and wisdom?

Lilith's response drew a shrug from Jack. "Well, yeah, it can be fun to learn. But isn't wanting to share what you've learned with other people also considered wanting to do something with it?" He spread his arms, gesturing as he spoke. "I mean, I read a whole lot of things without a certain goal in mind. But just because I don't read or learn for a specific reason doesn't mean I can't come up with ways to use what I've learned later." Realizing he sounded ungrateful for her attempt to answer his question, he quickly added, "But I appreciate hearing your take on it, so thanks."
At the theory about Rowena's family animal potentially being a raven and wanting to keep her family out of the school, Jack made a face. That seemed like a lot of assumptions and speculation. It also seemed unlikely to him since wizarding families (such as Salazar Slytherin's) seemed to really take pride in their identities and seemed to try to incorporate it into everything they could. But who knew? Perhaps Rowena was different.
"The Grey Lady?" he repeated, giving Penelope a strange look. "Why would the daughter of Rowena Ravenclaw still be alive?" He paused, trying to think of why that title sounded familiar. Hadn't he read something about the Grey Lady in Hogwarts: A History? "Oh! That's the ghost that hangs around the Ravenclaw house, right?" If she really was Rowena's daughter, that made sense.
Then he remembered his and Penelope's discussion about ghosts the first time they had met in the abandoned toilets. He wondered if she was okay with the idea of them now. If she knew about the Grey Lady, since she hadn't known ghosts existed when he had first met her, maybe she had tried to learn more about them since. He supposed the Grey Lady and Penelope had a few things in common, like the fact that they both seemed to have a hard time discussing their parents due to death.
"You're...sure you don't mind going to visit a ghost?" he asked the brunette with a teasing sneer. "The first time I met you, you'd screamed and fallen over after seeing one. And would you even know where to find her?"

"Well, who knows?" asked Penelope. She really didn't mind. she had learned that this boy could always twist his way around something, and although it had been annoying at first, she was alright with it now.
"The Grey Lady? Why would the daughter of Rowena Ravenclaw still be alive?" He paused, and Penelope let him think. She had learned quite a bit about ghosts after the encounter in the bathroom. Maybe it was because she was interested, maybe not. But the real part of her brain knew that she was searching for a way her parents might be ghosts. It was a strange thought, but as soon as she had gone to bed after the bathroom encounter, she had been thinking. "Oh! That's the ghost that hangs around the Ravenclaw house, right?"
"Yep, but don't mention her mother to her. It's a sore subject." said Penelope.

This time, we are on a search for a ghost, and I know that they are real. The circumstances really are different." she thought back to the time in the bathroom with Jack. They had a very nice conversation, until the subject of Selim Faust came up. That had been very awkward. Penelope had gotten the snakelike boy a present, and Jack had read too much into it. She had gotten angry and defensive, mostly because she was feeling careless that day. She was past that now, and she realized that Lilith probably had no idea what they were talking about so she added, "I had a run-in with the Abandoned Toilets ghost, and Jack walked in as I screamed. As I said before, the circumstances were completely different." She cast a jokingly stern glance at Jack. She liked to look back to that day, for no particular reason.
"So, everyone ready? I believe we find the grey lady either in the Ravenclaw dorm, or in the corridors. I just left the Common Room minutes ago and didn't see her, so I think it's safe to assume we can find her wandering the corridors somewhere." said Penelope. She hopped up onto her feet. She wanted to go for 3 reasons. 1. She could help Jack find the answer and possibly ditch part of class, although that was not a bonus. 2. She could study ghosts and try to figure out more about them and 3. She would have fun!
Penelope slung her bag over her shoulder. She looked around. No prefect were near, so they could easily slip out without any trouble. This is so awesome!!!! She thought to herself.
"Well, yeah, it can be fun to learn. But isn't wanting to share what you've learned with other people also considered wanting to do something with it?" He spread his arms, gesturing as he spoke.

Owl post
After an early morning Tai Chi training by the lake, Griseldis's stomach already started to growl which finally remind her to go eat breakfast. She didn't know why but she felt that today would be a special day. Oh, right! She remembered that the House elf she knew who worked at the kitchen once mentioned that there were going to be pancakes and waffles as today's special breakfast menu. Griseldis was a person who loved a lot of food but pancakes and waffles were one of her favorite breakfast! She first ran back to her dorm room to change into her robe and of course, she didn't forget to wear her Prefect badge. Honestly, she often forgot to wear it causing many students not believing her to be a Prefect at all.Mentioning @Santario Martin @Alexander Cloverfield
Well, she didn't blame them, maybe she was too nice for a Prefect sometimes, she heard from others that most Prefects were quite intimidating or super strict but speaking about Prefect, she still kind of wanted to get to know all of them but due to being in different Houses or not being in the same class or year it was not so easy to encounter them not even her own Gryffindor Prefects. Only when they were called by the Professors to gather at important meetings, Griseldis then was able to at least say hello to one of them, she was also quite surprised that two of the Slytherins she met in the corridors in her first year both became Prefects and the third year Gryffindor boy with beautiful emerald green eyes named Alexander became a Prefect as well right after she accidentally hurt her knee by being too clumsy...like always, it was really an embarrassing incident on her own part but she got to befriend the amazing San and they eventually became good friends. There was also a boy she met at the chaotic Masquerade ball in October who she had to chokehold them in order to stop him from fighting. She later learned that the boy she chokehold that day was Quinn Healy, a third-year Hufflepuff Prefect. Griseldis was shocked and felt even more guilty of what she did to him, she remembered clearly how sad and helpless he was. If Merlin allowed to let her encounter him one day, she would give him a proper apology.
Being too deep in her thoughts that she wasn't even aware that she arrived at the Grear Hall, the moment she finally looked up was too late for the Gryffindor Prefect to react. Once again, thanked Griseldis's clumsiness, her forehead slammed right in front of the hard wooden door that caused her to lose her balance, hopefully, there was someone there to catch her from behind before she fell on the ground.
OOC: As promised, I'm tagging you guys xD @Xailah Alptraum @Quinn Healy @Ruby Cazares @Koko Riddle
