It was a cold day, not many people were at the lake and it was easy to see why. Winter was rolling through Hogwarts grounds, pushing out the fall weather that had stuck around for Halloween. The Great Lakes' water turned steely grey and choppy with the dull skies of the afternoon.
There was a reason Elzabeth had picked this place, she wanted to clear her head, maybe work out some of the blurred memories of the Masquerade. It had happened only a few days ago but she couldn't stop thinking about it. Luckily no one had died but many made it out with burns that would have scarred them for life if it weren't for magic.
Elzabeths hand flew up to her arm, remembering her close encounter with the flames. It had shaken her, the fire wasn't something she was usually scared of but now the tiniest of flames made her flinch.
She sighed and took a seat at a tree, wrapping her robe around her. The whole point of coming out here was to not think like that.
"If not that then what?" She asked herself. Her friends were all off doing their own thing right now, she didn't want to bother them so she came out here alone. She searched for every single one of them and found them busy, well, everyone but Lamik.
Ever since the whole fiasco with him she had tried to avoid him altogether. It was embarrassing the stuff she felt for him, especially when he didn't return those feelings. She had gotten a long letter from him explaining the whole ordeal and while it did leave her somewhat mortified she appreciated he told her out of the gate instead of leading her on any more than he already had.
Elzabeth picked at the grass under her fingers, blushing in embarrassment at the whole memory. He had been at the party too, she had seen him but didn't say anything, and before the party could even start for her she was fighting for her life. She hoped he had more fun than she did, and he didn't get hurt like so many others did.

Unlike many, Lamik didn't dislike winter. The cold wasn't any worse then the heat after all, and once it started snowing- well that was something else entirely. Lamik adored the snow. It was the most beautiful thing in the world, in his opinion, and he couldn't wait for it to start falling. Though it hadn't begun yet, the young Gryffindor still decided to take a walk for no reason other then the need to think. The Masquerade ball hadn't exactly worked out as Lamik had hoped. Of course, it didn't work the way that anybody had hoped- a fire, the half giants, and a strange lack of professors.
His thought process was put to a halt when he spotted someone on her own. "Elz?" He said loudly, hoping that she would hear him. The two hadn't talked for quite a while, and Lamik wasn't sure how she would react after he had accidentally gave her some.... mixed signals. The girl had been mad at him, that much was obvious, and they hadn't really talked after his apology letter. He had put a lot of effort into it, and hopefully that came through. Hopefully she would still want to be his friend. Hopefully she didn't hate him.

Elzabeth jumped at the call of her name. She turned to face the very boy she had started thinking about. An embarrassing shade of deep pink reached her already rosy cheeks. "Oh! You frightened me Lamik." She took a deep breath, repressing the awkward memories that started resurface yet again.
There was no reason to keep things weird between them, so Elzabeth scooted over and patted the spot next to her, brushing off her hands afterward to rid themselves of the newly obtained dirt.
"Would you like to take a seat?" She asked, looking back out at the lake. Her heart fluttered every time she met his eyes and it made her mad, she knew he didn't like her and she didn't want to like him but it didn't seem the rest of her agreed.
Elzabeth silently prayed he wouldn't even bring up what had last happened between them but at the same time, she knew it would probably be better if they got it over with. Still, she could try and delay that moment for as long as possible.
"How long have you been out here?" Elzabeth resumed picking at the grass, waiting for Lamik to speak up before she continued to talk.

Though it didn't show, Lamik was extremely relieved. Half of him had expected that upon seeing him, Elzabeth would have simply gotten up and left. Luckily that didn't seem to be the case, and Lamik didn't have to decide whether to go after the girl or leave her be. "Sorry." He said, smiling sheepishly. A small laugh escaped from his lips in response to how he had startled her. Looking more closely, Lamik also noticed her reddening cheeks, which though he thought was cute, he had learned better then to comment on it. He now knew what he had done, and he wasn't planning on making the same mistake again.
As soon as Elzabeth had offered, Lamik took a seat on the floor. His smile, which had been somewhat mischievous seconds before, had returned to its original warm, caring state. "If you mean how long I've been walking around outside- around ten minutes." He said, watching her. "If you mean how long I've been staring at you though- just a few seconds." Lamik let his eyes drift to Elzabeths hands before he started mimicking her, pulling out blades of grass from the ground one buy one. "What about you?"

@Lamik FillestarElzabeth cracked a smile at his joke, her mood lifting slightly once he sat down. Maybe things between them weren't so terrible after all.
"I came out here after lunch, everyone was busy and I needed a place to clear my head. There's so much that has been going on lately, my first year has become a wild journey that I feel is far from being over." She shrugged, pulling her robes tighter to her as a gust of wind blew leaves from the tree down on top of them.
"I'm just happy I met the order, if I hadn't I doubt I would be so happy here. My mother wanted to pull me out after the ball, but my dad stopped her. I fear one more incident and I may not be coming back to Hogwarts." Elzabeth let whatever was on her mind out into the open, trying to clear off her chest.
A moment of silence passed between them before she shook off her last statement and looked back to him. "What about you? Any reason you're roaming around out here?" She looked at him, smiling once she noticed a few leaves had landed in his hair. She wanted to be the friend she was before all of the drama happened, but at the same time, she felt the air of awkwardness between them. If only it could just go away.

Lamik frowned as soon as he understood what Elzabeth was saying. She was right, of course. Hogwarts hadn't made her life any easier, nor had it made his during his first year. If he was being honest, second year wasn't going so well either. The ball was a mess- people got hurt. People died. Sure, they were the attackers, but Lamik still had a hard time with the fact that a life was taken before his eyes. Then there was Kaegen. Lamik had only met Kaegen one time after the bombing at the abandoned bathrooms, but since then the smallest thought of the Dhampir could send him into an intense panic attack.
Despite all that though, Lamik liked Hogwarts. He felt closer to the friends he had made in such a short amount of time then he did to the kids that he had known his entire life back home. The magic wasn't exactly a down side either. Because of that, an extremely worried look crossed his face when Elzabeth said that her mother wanted to take her away. "What...?" He said, very obviously shocked. "She cant just take you. It doesn't matter if things happen sometimes! You cant let her. I wont let her." Obviously, there wasnt much Lamik could do about it. Obviously, he didnt really care.

Elzabeth was shocked at his response, she didn't expect him to care so much about what her mom was saying but it got him worked up enough butterflies erupted in her stomach.
"I don't want to! I love this place! I love the people!" Elzabeth stressed, throwing her hands out at the castle and looking to Lamik.
"But my mom knows about Hogwarts pasts and she knows its not necessarily the safest place so this only hurts her idea of me being her more." Elzabeth sighed, looking back over at the lake.
She debated saying what she was about to, wondering if she could trust Lamik with the information. Eventually, she gave in, knowing he wouldn't be one to go around telling people her issues.
"I think my mom wanted me to stay muggle. When I was a kid I would tell her about things that would happen to me and she would try and make them seem completely normal and not magical at all. She probably did it out of fear but something tells me she would hesitate to take me away from all of this and shelter me again." Elzabeth let her mind travel to different instances.
As a child sometimes her books would fly off the shelf but her mom told her it was just her mind playing tricks on her. Her hair would change color, her water would instantly boil, and her toys would start playing by themselves but her mom denied it.
"My father was always the one who would tell me the truth, tell me why those things were happening, which is why I think I trust him more." Elzabeth trailed off, stopping because a little voice in the back of her head was telling her she was going too far, telling too much.
"But I love them, they just each have their strengths and weaknesses." She shrugged, trying to play everything off normally.

A small part of Lamik wondered if Elzabeth's mother was right. He didn't know what it felt like to have a child, but the boy did know what it was like to have younger friends. It made sense that her mother would do anything to protect her daughter, and even as his outburst left his lips, he knew that there was logic beind the idea of removing Elzabeth from Hogwarts. Still, the ravenclaw was someone he cared for far more then he usually would for someone who wasn't one of his best friends. He wasn't planning on just sitting down and watching her get taken away.
"Hogwarts really isn't exactly as safe as the muggle schools, I guess..." Lamik said, watching her. "But no place is if you dont learn to control your magic, right? I mean... someone could get hurt if we use it unintentionally. Besides-" Lamik grinned sheepishly. "Your mom wouldn't take you away from a group as important as the Order. We would fall apart without you!" The Order of Dawn hadnt really had a chance to do anything substantial since its formation. That didnt mean Lamik thought it had any less importance. Maybe it was childish, but the boy viewed it as a potential shield against evil.

Elzabeth broke out into a smile. The order was the first thing in a long time that made her feel important, she really hoped it wasn't just a childish thing that would fade with time like her parents seemed to think it was.
"I honestly don't know where I would be without The Order. Probably stuck in the library without friends." If she hadn't walked into the right room at the right time, she never would have even met them.
"And If my mom does take me away from Hogwarts, away from The Order, I'm not sure if I would ever find a place where I belong again." Elzabeth threw some sticks at the lake but the fell just short of the dark waters.
Finding a place where Elzabeth fit in was already hard enough, now that shes found it the idea of her having to leave made her insides twist in discomfort.
"Ugh! I don't know!" Her feelings were getting all complicated again which is the exact opposite thing she wanted. Elzabeth looked to Lamik, heaving a sigh. "This is stupid, feelings are stupid." Elzabeth looked just past Lamik where a frog was bounding across the grass. Another sigh left her lips and she leaned her head against the bark of the tree, closing her eyes to try and stop the worries from returning.

Lamik thought for a few moments. He found it strange that Elzabeth thought she wouldn't fit in. After all, from what Lamik was aware the girl had most traits that one would desire in a friend: she was kind, friendly, energetic, and... Well... Forgiving, apparently. She was also very pretty, but that had nothing to do with friendships, and at this point, the boy knew better than to ever point that out. "I mean..." Lamik started, getting out of his sitting position and laying down on the grass. "If by stuck in the library without any friends you mean most popular girl at Hogwarts, then maybe. Hanging out with me is just holding you back, really."
Lamik got quiet again at Elzabeths sudden outburst, trying to figure out how to respond. "Feelings aren't stupid." He finally said. "Feelings are what get us friends, and what make things interesting. They're tough sometimes, I guess, but it's all just a learning experience." Honestly, Lamik had no idea what the heck he was talking about. The words seemed right, but he wasn't sure what they meant. Hopefully, they would be at least somewhat helpful- or maybe just lead to something that was helpful.
