Needless to say, the ending result hadn't been good. It hadn't even been close to good or even satisfactory. Avis sighed miserably as she packed up her things, refusing to look at the infuriatingly satisfied Italian who, despite having gotten the same abysmal grade, had the expression of an amused cat after toying with a mouse just before eating it. She glowered, shoving stuff into her bag with unnecessary force and slinging it onto her back. Giving him attitude?? Whiny eleven year old girl??? Avis huffed, stepping out of the potions classroom and into the cold dungeon hallway. That hardly counted! She'd be twelve in 10 days. Without warning, someone shoved past her with a muttered apology as they made their way through the crowded corridor.

"Watch where you're going, you blind idiot!" she hissed after them.

"Calm down, hothead!" the kid chirped back before disappearing up the stairs. Avis rolled her eyes and slumped against the wall, attempting a slow count in her head again. She had to calm down before she could go on with her day. She still had Defense Against the Dark Arts after lunch, not to mention Quidditch practice later. The Ravenclaw refused to let that stupid boy distract her from something she loved to do and she knew she didn't play well angry.

But the more she thought about him, the more riled up she got. The audacity!!! It wasn't even her fault that she'd gotten the Troll! It was his! And plus he owed her a new cauldron! The thing had been completely ruined by the straight acid Gabriele had handcrafted.

She looked up just in time to see the culprit leaving class, lazily filing out between a few other students. Speak of the devil. She'd been quietly hoping he'd left before her but perhaps this provided a perfect opportunity. Avis clenched her fists and waited til he walked past to step out in front him, fiery blue gaze shooting daggers into his own brown ones just inches away. Something in the back of her head just told her to let it go and walk away, but she pushed it aside angrily.

"Ricci-Armani," she muttered in a low voice. "You owe me a new cauldron and you're not leaving until you promise to get me one."

It was a fat chance his promise meant anything, or would even be given, but Avis had to walk away with some sort of victory. It would only be fair, right?

The end result was at this point, totally expected, but hardly anything to be losing sleep over. Gabriele accepted the bad grade with a shrug and a (mental) laugh – Professor Sauber didn’t look like the type of man that laughed, ever, and would probably not have appreciated it, so he shut the fuck up for the time being. Compared to Avis who looked like she’d just gotten a punch in the gut.

Before Gabriele had begun to stuff his things back into his bag, Gabi barely caught a glimpse of a flash of brown waves when Avis darted out the door, probably wanting to hide in shame or something. Typical Ravenclaws taking everything so fucking seriously. Even if he wouldn’t have minded to see the aftermath, he was in no mood to chase her down the corridors. Figuring that was the last he’d see of her, he lazily packed up and threw the bag over his shoulder, dreading the next classes ahead of him. Hopefully Herbology with the Gryffindors wouldn’t be such a failure.

Turns out he didn’t have to chase either way. Gabi had barely taken a few steps when Avis, who clearly had been waiting for him, stepped out right into his path. Apparently, they were on last name basis now, and he owed her a new cauldron. The Italian stared at her dully, unimpressed by her attitude. “Wow, not even a please? Where are your manners, Greymond? Disappeared with your grade?” Rich coming from him, since he wasn’t exactly a poster boy for a sophisticated prince. Everyone in his family could attest to Gabi always being a rude bitch and embarrassing them at family events. It was fun testing her, though.

He sighed. “You can’t afford a new cauldron? Too bad…” He trailed off, gauging her reaction and expecting to see fume coming out of her ears next. “But lucky for you, I’m feeling generous today.” He wasn't, but suppose it was in due order to give her a new cauldron, since hers had basically disinegrated. He fished inside his pockets for whatever left-over coins he could find. Two galleons. A standard two cauldron only cost five sickles or something, but this was just a piss in the ocean for someone like him.

Tossing the galleons her way with no regard if she caught them or if they fell to the floor, he dismissed her with, “Keep the change,” and a wink.

"Like you know what manners are," she muttered back, pointedly ignoring his jab about her grade. After all, it had been his grade too and she intended to hopefully find a way to make up for it with extra credit, something she doubted this lazy pillow sack would attempt. She sniffed indignantly at his use of her last name, something that nagged at her considering one of her good friends was the only one who'd ever called her by 'Greymond' and Gabriele was far from a friend.

Avis awaited his response and of course, it was something maddeningly stupid. What else had she expected at this point? She crossed her arms, refusing to play his little game of 'piss off, Avis' for once.

"No, but you can," she retorted. The Ravenclaw had noticed his high end robes and pristine Potions gear. In fact, it was hard not to notice. He had to be some amount of rich, if not loaded. "Cough it up, rich boy," Avis said with a fake smile. To her complete and utter surprise, the boy, albeit a snarky comment about being generous, tossed two shiny coins her way with a careless flick of his slender fingers and the Ravenclaw failed to hide the look of shock on her face as she caught the coins with ease. A response echoed in her head somewhere. Something along the lines of "I'm not taking your dirty money" or "I wanted a cauldron not galleons." But nothing came out of her mouth. In fact, she looked very much like a gaping fish as the boy walked away with a cheeky wink.

Avis recovered quickly and closed her slightly ajar lips with a soft clop. Great Merlin, he had to be rich to be tossing around Galleons like that. Nothing like her cottage-living country-bumpkin self had ever seen, that was for sure. Her dark eyebrows furrowed over blue eyes as they followed the tossle-haired boy up the stairs and out of the dungeon. Rude and spoiled. What was not to dislike?

But as she pocketed the coins with a shrug and turned to climb the stairs along with the rest of the crowd, a nagging thought flickered into the back of her head.

That was rather...nice of him. Ew.
