You may be wondering who Kaia is: she is a young girl who has been fortunate enough to be taught about three different cultures. But let's start at the beginning. Kaia was born on April 15, 2014, in the picturesque hills of the Cotswolds,Bibury, to an English father and an Italian-Norwegian mother. Her mother, Sigrid Lombardi, is a pure-blood witch of Italian-Norwegian origin: she is described by everyone as an energetic, curious, and competent woman, employed by the Department for International Cooperation. Her father, Edric Flanning, is a half-blood Englishman, a botanist specializing in magical plants, always with his hands in the soil. She spent the first two years of her life in a house surrounded by flower-filled paths and misty hills, on an old family property on her father's side. Although old, the house was full of life, laughter, and books. In her third year, they moved to Italy, to Rasiglia, a village known as the village of water. In Italy, she is educated at home by tutors who teach her basic concepts appropriate for her young age. Very often, it is her mother herself who explains magical concepts to her. The environment in which she grows up is peaceful and relaxed, punctuated by the constant sounds of streams running through the village: a place that, over time, becomes an integral part of her character.
