ooc notes-7:00 AM on a brisk September day, perfect for a good old fashioned detention. Instead of making the culprit write “I will sleep at night” 500 times, Sage settled a stack of parchment and quills in the Study Room. Essays always taught her more than being scolded.
Since Miss Madelynn Casavero had decided to stay up late, albeit doing some acts of good, Sage decided to stress the importance of a good night’s rest by having the troublemaker meet her there at 7:00 AM sharp, no time for lollygagging.
Sage stood waiting by the door of the study room, arms crossed and expression stoic. Once Madelynn had arrived, Sage would explain the rules of the detention to her. "Good morning, Madelynn. Welcome to detention, please take a seat. Seeing as you chose a rather late bedtime for yourself last night, I want to see a 300 word essay on the importance of sleep for growing children such as yourself. "
She motioned to the stack of paper she’d provided. "You may use the provided resources to finish this task. Once I have checked over your essay and decided it is satisfactory, you may leave. I will be sitting here the whole time waiting until you have learned your lesson. Is this understood?"
She took a seat near the one Madelynn would pick to wait out the detention. "If there are no questions, you may begin."Madelynn, you must write a total of two posts, 600 words total, 300 words per post. One post must be the essay your character has written, the other her arriving at the detention and such. No new roleplays can be written until Sage has released Madelynn from the detention.
Sleep Is Supposedly Good For You
Madelynn's essay:
Essay about sleep for young children
- Why is it important?
- What is the minimum amount of hours a child needs to sleep?
- What stages of sleep are there?
- Conclusion
Why is it important?
Sleep is important for both the body and the mind. For your mind it is important so the next day you can remember things. As well so you can come up with new ideas and have the ability to concentrate.
For the body it is important, because that way you can grow. Both your bones, muscles and skin can grow. It is also important for your health as your body will be able to heal injuries easier. As well as fight sickness better.
What is the minimum amount of hours a child needs to sleep?
Children from the age category 6 until 12 need to sleep for 9-12 hours.
What stages of sleep are there?
You have stage 1 to 5. Stage 1 and 2, you are falling asleep. Though once you are asleep the sleep isn't very deep yet. Stage 3 and 4 will mean that you are in a deep sleep. This is when you can really recover. Your breathing will slow down and so will your heartbeat. At stage 5 your eyes start moving under your eyelids and you start dreaming. This is when your brain is very active. The eyes moving is called a R.E.M (rapid eye movement).
Conclusion
Sleep is very important for your body as you need it to recover and function well again the next day. If you for example stay up until 0:00 AM, that means you need to at least sleep until 09:00 AM to make up for it. At least when you are in the age category I mentioned. So, sleep is crucial.
(NOTE: I need to get breakfast real quick. The roleplay response will be after that.)

It was early in the morning, 06:30 AM. Madelynn was walking through the halls as she had been assigned detention. She had to be there at 07:00 AM sharp. Madelynn was wearing her uniform and she had her hair in two braids. She was wide awake as she had been up since 05:00 AM to work on an apology. She knew that detention was already supposed to be her punishment, but she felt like it was important that she also apologized.
Once Madelynn arrived, she made a slight bow. "Good morning Ms Willows," Madelynn said politely. She walked inside the study room and was told to sit down. She sat down immediately, but lost balance and fell on the ground. She quickly stood up and sat down properly though. She listened to Sage her explanation of what the young girl had to do and Madelynn nodded. "Understood," she replied softly and respectfully.
After that she started to write. She looked into the recourses and wrote down the things she needed on a paper. After that she started to write it more precise and refined. Though with the second attempt she wasn't pleased yet so she kept writing. It took her about fifteen papers before she was near being satisfied. She started over. Again and again. After an hour she had an essay she was good with and she shove it forward on her desk. She hoped that Sage would be alright with this essay. If not though, Madelynn would be more than okay with starting over.
She looked at Sage, her eyes looking at her to see if she was allowed to speak. She really wanted to apologize and also give back the book Sage had dropped. Madelynn had found that last night. Though she would completely understand if she wasn't allowed to speak. It was a little past 08:00 AM now.
(OOC: I have permission from Sage to write about her losing that book. And a note to Sage, would you mind continuing this thread even after my detention has been approved by you?)

ooc notes- I’m fine with continuing for a bit longer!Sage wished she’d brought a timer. The soothing ticking, ticking, ticking counting down the time remaining for breakfast. Nevertheless, she’d forgotten one. She’d still been itching to find her lost book, forgotten like the timer she’d wished she’d brought.
Sage put that aside. She had to focus on Madelynn and the detention. The young Hufflepuff, however, was strikingly polite, mimicking the stereotype of the perfect Hufflepuff. She nodded in return to her bow. It’d be hard for Sage to be as intimidating as some of the other prefects were during detention when the trouble maker was as nice as Madelynn was.
For the rough hour Madelynn spent writing, Sage began to see a perfectionist in the child. Her thoughts ticked by like seconds on a timer, passing her upcoming homework assignments, her book she needed to locate, and worst of all… The divorce. She couldn’t think about that during a detention, she’d go back to that numb state she didn’t ever want to be in again. Back to London in her trapped mind.
When Madelynn looked up, Sage stood and approached her. "You can talk, you know," she mentioned, reaching her hand out to check the essay. "If you’re finished, I’ll check your essay."
Once the parchment was in her hand, Sage’s brown eyes scanned past every line, every punctuation mark, every detail composed by Casavero. It wasn’t half bad.
"Okay," she said, setting down the essay. "Good job. I take it you’ve learned your lesson to not break curfew again?"
She smiled, and motioned her arms to show Madelynn was free to leave. "You’re free to go." She paused for a moment, thinking to ask the question she’d been meaning to ask. "Hey, uh, is there any chance you’ve stumbled upon a lost book? Lost one of mine the other day and haven’t had any luck finding it."Madelynn, you have completed the IC aspects of this detention and are now free to complete new roleplays. Since you requested, we can continue this roleplay a bit longer.
