Tell me why I'm waiting for someone
Lancelot sighed, looking down on the Great Lake from a little farther up one of the hills. The grass was lush and green under his palms as he sat down, a soft breeze ruffling his black hair and the setting sun turning the water orange. It was actually quite pretty. The sky was lined with a pastel pink that slowly began to fade, being replaced with the continuously darkening sky. It was... rejuvenating. Calming. Taking in a deep breath of the fresh air, Lancelot closed his eyes, listening to the rustling of leaves and splashing of soft waves. Night would come fast and Lancelot knew that it wasn't safe to be there alone at night, but in a way, he didn't want to leave. He felt like if he left, he'd miss something. Like he was waiting for someone to come and talk to him, like he knew someone would come. It was an odd thought, really. No one would be near the lake at this hour anyway. Exhaling deeply and slowly, Lance pulled his legs close to his chest, resting his chin on his knees and watching as the appearing stars glinted in the lake, the reflection almost as bright as the real thing. But it wasn't real. Not actually. It was just a reflection, that's it. It's fake. That seemed really sad to Lance, and he had no idea why. It just kind of did. His eyelids drooping, he looked up at the dark sky, the moon now shining brightly and the sun almost completely gone. He really should get back to Hogwarts- he doubted he was even allowed to be out this late. Oh well. Rules were meant to be broken, right? Smiling to himself, Lance relished in the beauty of the twilight for a bit longer, still feeling reluctant to leave. It was kind of an instinctual thing, he guessed. He seriously doubted that someone would come, but... he still waited. He waited, waited for someone to give him just a tad bit of company. Why, though? Why did he feel so desperate for someone to speak with? He could go to Slytherin's dormitory right that moment and talk to someone he was familiar with- Foster, or even that emo Dmitri. But no. He couldn't leave. Not yet.

Tell me why I'm waiting for someone
Kendra had been spending a great deal of time by the Great Lake. It seemed to be the only place in Hogwarts that really helped her get her mind off things. It was a place of peace but with a slight sense of danger, especially after dark. There was something about being safe in a dangerous place that really made Kendra feel almost at home.
She was walking across the edge where land met water. The hour was late afternoon and she knew she would soon have to head back to the castle. Still she walked and walked, it was as if something was telling her not to go just yet. Ignoring her instincts often got her involved in complicated situations but she was no stranger in breaking the rules and felt confident enough she could get away with anything.
Shifting her gaze away from the water, she looked up on the small hill beside her. There was someone there. So far the people she had met around the Lake had been the most interesting. Meeting in a place like this should mean that they had to have something in common after all, not everyone enjoys being alone with themselves. She decided she would approach and see what happened.
"Hey there." she greeted the Slytherin boy she came across at the top of the hill. It seemed she would meet new Slytherins everywhere except the common room. "Are you waiting for someone? I'm sorry to tell you but if that's the case they must have stood you up, it's getting pretty late."

Tell me why I'm waiting for someone
As soon as Lancelot saw a girl approaching him from the lake, he beamed, feeling reassured that his instincts were correct. hen she walked up to him and greeted him, he jumped, quickly standing up. "No, no, not at all! Actually, I was gonna head back pretty soon. I decided to take my chances and stay though, and whaddya know, someone's actually here!" As Lance looked at her, he felt as though he recognized her from somewhere. Maybe he saw her at the Slytherin table during the sorting hat ceremony, perhaps. He wasn't entirely sure though. "Hey, are you in Slytherin by any chance? I feel like I've seen you before." He narrowed his eyes skeptically, looking the girl up and down. She almost looked similar to him feature-wise, with dark hair and skin, along with exotic eyes. Probably recognizable by her companions- she looked like the kind of person you could spot from a mile away. Then again, this was just his first impression of her. He honestly had no idea who this girl was. Not even her name. But she seemed like a fairly friendly person, so he wouldn't mind continuing to talk with her. He wondered if she was even social though. Well, if she wasn't, she wouldn't have come up to the hill, right?

Tell me why I'm waiting for someone
Peaches came up to the Great Lake, holding her arm. She sat down, looking at the view. Even if it was a horrible childhood, she still misses her parents. She didnt have any friends that really kept her company. But she was mostly a loner, but for an odd reason she wanted some company. Someone just to have a conversation with. The Lake soothed her, she can smell the water. It smelled fresh and she liked it. She then looked over and saw a girl and boy. She recognized them as Slytherins. She heard so much about the Slytherins. She thought to herself and then looked back at the lake. It looked so peaceful and it was getting late. But, she didnt care for a reason. She had a bad tirst day already and just wanted to get away just for a few. She looked at her relfection in the water and then away. She didnt really like herself after all her life what she has been called. She was always called worthless by her parents and people in her normal life before Hogwarts. But she was glad she was apart of the school. She just feared what she get herself into.

Tell me why I'm waiting for someone
"Yes, that I am." she responded "So that makes two of us right?" she said with a smile on her face. "My name is Kendra."
The boy seemed interesting enough to be around, just as she had expected. Slytherins could be a lot to handle, but if you managed to actually handle them they could turn out to be the best of friends. Kendra had greatly developed her social skills since she had first come in Hogwarts. On her first week she would not dare speak to anyone, not even her dorm mates. She used to stare at people waiting for them to make the first step. Even though things were much better now, she would still find it difficult to understand some of the basic human emotions and she sometimes felt a little exposed presenting herself to people she didn't know. She would often stress herself out with thoughts like, "Is she looking at me?", "What if I look bad?", "Are they judging me?", but every time it seemed to get better, especially after making her first "enemies". She knew now that no matter how hard you tried, there are people that will dislike you anyways.
"I hope you weren't avoiding the rest of the Slytherins because it looks like there's no escaping us... " she said with a shrug "After all, it seems most of the people coming here are trying to avoid something." she looked over spotting another girl sitting a little further away, there seemed to be more people around, than what she had expected to see.

Tell me why I'm waiting for someone
Peaches looked over as the girl looked at her. She gasped low and looked away, back at the lake. Bringing her knees closer to her chest, laying her head on her knees. She sighed, knowing she could probably feel the judgement. It was just her inner self telling her she was going to not fit in. She got up and walked further away from the two people that were talking. She then found a area that had some lightening bugs. She smiled softly at the sight and went over. The moon was glittering on the lake and the stars were shinning so bright. This sight soothed her, and made her feel peace. She sat down, and looked at the lightening bugs around her. She closed her eyes and took a breath. She was tryingto settle into Hogwarts. But it seemed hard for her. She had no friends and no one to write to back at home. She was just scared, but she knew she was going to be. "Another day" She whispered and laid back on the grass. Trying to relax her mind, erasing all her thoughts. Making her go into solitude in her mind. She finally finally at peace.

"I'm Lancelot, but you can call me Lance," the Brazilian boy replied to Kendra. He was glad he had someone to talk to, and Kendra so far had a formal yet light-hearted tone to her voice, allowing Lance to feel welcomed. Even if she wasn't quite as welcoming though, he probably would have talked to her anyway. "And actually, I originally came here to read, mostly because of the atmosphere. I just lost track of time after awhile. What about you? I thought we weren't allowed to be here this late in the first place. You just a rule-breaker?" He smirked, putting his hands on his hips and tilting his head. Earlier, he had noticed Kendra look back at the lake, but Lance hadn't really followed her gaze until now. Glancing down, he noticed another young girl walking around. She was farther away, but he could see her expression, of which was laced with serenity and a tad bit of lonesomeness. His smirk faded for a moment, and he looked down at her curiously. She was staring at a group of fireflies, admiring their beauty. Lancelot didn't think he and Kendra should just leave her alone over there, so he decided that he'd go talk to the girl eventually. He then turned his teal gaze back to Kendra, awaiting her reply.

Tell me why I'm waiting for someone
She stood up, and saw the two. She wanted to talk to them a lot but she was too shy. She headed towards a tree she saw. It was so gorgeous like a oak tree. She climbed up it really fast, as it was her hobbie. She sat on a branch and looked at the fireflies. The moon was so pretty, if know one was around she turn into her fox form. She was a animagus, but no one really knew. She brushed a piece of her hair back, as she took her long purple hair down as it was down to her waist. She sighed low and looked over at the two again, maybe they were nice people? She was questioning if she should talk to them. Would they judge her or become her friend? She was not the friend type after all her life. But, she wanted to try. She tried to jump off the tree, but it snapped and she soon jumped on the branch above her. Letting the other one fall. She held onto the branch pulling herself up. She saw she got a cut on her knee. "Oh great" She said as she was bleeding. She reached into her bag, getting her first aid. Patching herself up.

Sorry for taking so long
Kendra chuckled listening to Lance speak. He did not give a typical Slytherin first impression, and that was something Kendra had been hoping for. He recent interactions had been rather tense leaving her almost in fear of her own housemates. Lance seemed to be extremely friendly and fun and Kendra thought he might be the person everyone would want to be friends with.
"Thank god my rule-breaking reputation doesn't precede me." she joked.
In the past, her curiosity had resulted in several innocent rule-breakings (and some maybe not so harmless) but she had been lucky enough to escape being busted.
"I was just really curious to see if werewolves do actually wander around Hogwarts after dark, like all the older students tell us, looks like they are all a bunch of liars, who would have thought." she chuckled and shrugged.
She glanced over to look for the other girl and realised she was nowhere to be found. Just then, she heard a branch snapping and falling off a nearby tree.
"Or maybe they were telling the truth..." she said feeling a little scared that something bad had happened to the girl and that it would come for them too. Even when feeling threatened she couldn't help but be sarcastic about it. "Is this the part where we die while breaking rules and we are then exemplified as to 'what happens when you don't listen to us' by the teachers?" she said crossing her arms in front of her chest.

Tell me why I'm waiting for someone
Overhearing their conversation, Cameron said from afar, "You can always use the invisibility cloak or perhaps maybe Polyjuice Potion. The Professors wouldn't see what was coming." He laughed and then stopped when they weren't laughing with him. Feeling awkward again making random suggestions he went back to throwing rocks into the lake. He threw the rock side ways to make the rock skip a few times on top of the water before plummeting below. "Ugh, not again!" Cameron said out loud as he tried again picking up another small rock and throwing it into the lake. He hoped to see the creature emerge from the lake but this afternoon it was rather calm and peaceful. Not going over to Hagrid's Hut, he wanted time alone to gather his thoughts from his recent homework assignment. He enjoyed History of Magic very much and was glad that he thought he did well on his assignment. Anxiously, wondering when the next lessons would be posted he decided to keep himself busy and not worry about his education. Cameron enjoyed his time outdoors and looked up at the sky as it was starting to get dark. Shrugging his shoulders and throwing in his last rock he made his way towards the castle. His stomach growled as he thought about dinner. Climbing the hill, he made his way towards the covered bridge and into the Entrance Hall.
