Stuck in a Moment

Soon to realize he and @Linda Ramirez are stuck on a staircase
29 January 2025
Simon had his head down, his focus on the text in front of him:
Becoming a healer at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries is a prestigious and challenging path, requiring a combination of academic rigor, practical experience, and a deep commitment to the healing arts.
Nothing read, there or beyond, was particularly new information for the Hufflepuff. He had discovered not too long ago that this had been his calling and he was determined to make it happen. Already he was part of the internship with the Hospital Wing there at Hogwarts, he was working on perfecting his skills in Potions and Herbology, and he read all magical medicine books he could get his hands on - whether from the Hogwarts Library or on special order.
He wasn't quite sure if this article in The Daily Prophet was mere informational or if it was a sort of cry for help, indicating that St. Mungo's was struggling to find workers. Would they even want a dhampir working there? Simon surely hoped so - at least in a few years time.
His eyes were still cast downward as he came to the staircase, stepping aboard and then leaning against the railing, waiting for it to move.
Little did he know that yes, it would soon move, and then it would stop, pause, leave him and anyone else there with him stuck in a moment.

Stuck in a Moment

Healing internship? Linda was still thinking if she wanted to be part of it or not. Healing was one of her main passion and she definitely would love to have more opportunities.
Holding a book about advanced healing that she brought from home, she stepped on the staircase. Immersed in the reading she finally decided to look up and see who was there near her. Simon? Oh hi. I didn't notice you earlier. What are you reading about? She asked curiously.
Book in her hands now could wait as she would be attempting to talk to Simon more. Maybe he could give her advice too? Linda didn't know. How is your year going so far? I've been more into healing this year.
Considering their last meeting, Simon will find Linda much more lively. Though she had a sense of calm in her eyes. Peace. She was at peace with everything at the moment. The girl crying late at night over dress was just a mere memory.
It was quite some time since our previous meeting, isn't it? She smiled softly. How quickly the time was going. Linda looked around, for the first time taking a moment to focus with staircase. It was interesting to see them moving. But it was confusing for those who were new to this castle.

Hoping to catch up with @Linda Ramirez
The jolt to a stop was only mildly concerning. It wasn't concerning in the sense that it threw either of them off balance but it was so in that the staircase only did such when it finally came to the platform and they were not at the new platform, nor were they connected to the other. Instead, they were suspended. Simon likened it to when the metro would shut down temporarily and be up and running in no time.
He was glancing over to his side just as the girl spoke and he recognized the voice first and then the hair. Linda. He smiled warmly. "Good to see you, Linda. I was just catching up a bit on this morning's Daily Prophet." He had it delivered by owl each morning. "An article about what St. Mungo's is looking for in healers these days." It still said nothing about any preference toward nonhalfbreeds or if halfbreeds were amongst those that could apply.
Maybe she'd find interest in such article if she too was interested in healing. That was good. The world needed more healers.
"It's been too long since our last meeting," he answered. "I was sort of hoping you'd be in need of a fairy godprefect again - even though I don't really want you to be of need, nor am I prefect any longer. The title could still stand as an honorary one, I hope."
"Life can get pretty insane." His had. His world had been shaken up by a crazy realization at his father's place of things that were set in motion and he wasn't sure how to stop it. He'd find a way - he had to.
"How's it been for you? How was your holiday? How's classes and such going for you?" He motioned to one of the steps. "Sit, talk with me.... Something tells me we might be here awhile." That staircase hadn't budged a bit since it stopped.

The sudden stop caught Linda's attention. She didn't experience it before so it was entirely new feeling. Why would it happen? She had no idea. Are you interested in St Mungo's? You might never know fully from the newspaper. Might be better attempting to know it by visiting or asking someone who is working there currently. She spoke softly.
It sounds like we have plenty of catch up to do. You can still be my fairy godprefect if you prefer this title. She smiled warmly. Or you could be my brother figure or perhaps best friend. She whispered quietly, more to herself than to Simon. Healing. I was still thinking whether to apply for the internship or not. She spoke louder this time.
Life definitely can be insane. The speed of everything sometimes was frightening. It's eventful to say the least. She moved to sit down before continuing talking. I started to study more about healing and dark magic. I'm still on my way to slowly get along with my father's family. I think I'm in love with a guy from Beauxbatons, but things are complicated, so I'm not sure. What about you? She looked at Simon, waiting for the answer. Surely there was a lot of things, right? After all, they didn't talk for a long time. Life was full of events. Whether good or not, it was another question.

Hoping to get details from @Linda Ramirez
"They have an internship I'm hoping to get into this coming summer but I don't know if that'll be problematic or not," he said as his eyes looked downward on the newspaper article. Simon began folding up the paper even smaller than it was so they'd have more room on that stairwell and shrugged. "Not because of grades or anything - those are fine and all but, you knoww, other reasons." The dhampir thing. Would St Mungos want a dhampir around or was there some sort of policy against it? Some patients perhaps would feel uneasy with him being closeby and then there was that whole should-dhampirs-be-around-blood which was just silly, but something most still thought about.
"I heard talk that the hospital wing internship might be disbanded," he said softly, unsure if he was really supposed to say such matters but it would be good for her to know if she was planning on joining. "If that happens though, I'm going to make a healing club here at Hogwarts. You'll have to join," he looked over to her and searched her eyes for any sign if she might be interested or not.
"But enough about all that, tell me about this guy from Beauxbatons." He was glad to hear that someone else at Hogwarts might have found love and could just think about how it would complicate things if they were at another wizarding school. He was fortunate that AngelFyre was not only there at Hogwarts but also in the same house as he was. "How'd you meet him, who he is he, and what makes things complicated?"
