As time ticked down towards the time limit for the duel, things started to falter on the Ravenclaw side. There wasn’t a chance they could catch up to the lions, Pyxis knew that much. But he still expected them to move at least. Perhaps they were too affected by the heavy fog still surrounding two of their opponents or maybe they had just given up, but neither bird managed to cast. In contrast, the Gryffindors went all out, sending five, yes, FIVE fireballs across the stage. Pyxis brought his hands up to shield his face as each blast slammed down onto the piste. However, despite their lack of active participation in the duel, the birds were slippery little eagles. Aida managed to avoid the brunt of all three balls sent in their direction, suffering minor damage from pieces of the piste instead. Damion could only to sidestep one, but the other caught the spot beneath his feet squarely, shredding the bottoms of his robes and almost setting them alight.

By this point in the match, Aida couldn't help but wonder how other students coped with the constant bombardment of pain in wizarding sports. Maybe Aida's friend Val was a masochist or something, it was hard to say since he was always so reliable even in the most torturous of circumstances. Maybe everyone was somehow used to it. Maybe everyone had some driver bigger than pain that made explosions seem like a picnic. Either way, Aida began to consider what the future would hold for them all after graduation. Ultimately the wix began to long to go for a swim to clear the confusion from their mind.

It was over. But Meenauh was wrong. They had both used fire spells abundantly their first duel together, five years ago, against Ravenclaw. The flames had immediately backfired on Galton, but they had used them. The failure was enough for the both of them to swear the spells off for good. It had come full circle now. They'd played so many duel as a careful, a meticulous team since - disabling and paralyzing their foes the whole duel - this was final duel was everything there were and weren't all in one. They'd started off with their tried and true tactics, and merged it with the viciousness they'd seen (and lost too) so many time before.

"It is over." Was all Galton would say before summoning one last spell for the honorable duo that stood before them.

It was a rather uneventful end to one of the last duels of the school year. After the fire power produced by the Gryffindor side in the previous moments, Pyxis expected to see the same as the last set of spells were let loose. However, in the moment that he heard the incantations for two healing spells, he suddenly flashed back to his emergency position as the lions’ referee in the second duelling stage. It had looked like the lions were relieved that their last remaining opponent forfeited, and he remembered the distinct thought of the situation being completely different from the younger years who seemed much more bloodthirsty in comparison. And now, when they surely had the ability to take down the unmoving Ravenclaws, the upperclassmen chose to heal each other instead, making it look like Meenauh and Evelynn had taken no hits at all. The outlier in casting was Evelynn who applied a preventative measure in case the birds regained their wits, which they unfortunately did not. Only Galton felt himself hindered by the spell, but not enough to disrupt his cast on Meenauh.

“And that’s it,” Pyxis held his hand up to stop the duel once the shockwave that originated from Evelynn had passed. “Time is up which means that the Gryffindors have won! Let’s hear it for them! And of course, thank you to Galton and Meenauh for lending their time to the duelling team. We’ll certainly miss you.” He turned to the crowd to rouse them. “One more time for our graduating lions!”
