Because this Group is too Large
~Scenery~
The owlery. A perfect place to send letters, as was common among homesick students, or those who wanted to chat with friends. Perhaps lovesick children sent love letters as well from this tower above the castle grounds. Either way, there were many practical reasons for deciding to harm your shins to reach the top of the West Tower. And then there were the impractical.

Guys and gals who decided to feed, scare, or entertain the owls. Maybe they wanted to pull some pranks, or just hide out away from reality. Either way, people came up to the Owlery. And they came often. The natural order of life. A few would come up at a time, maybe have a nice chat, send off their letters, and leave. They would come here to pout, shout, cry, before leaving when they felt a little more together and in place. It was even likely that only one would come up at a time. Perhaps even a group of friends would decide to come up here all together. No matter the case, it was reasonable for a few people to be up in the Owlery.

But it didn't, couldn't possibly, make sense that a large group of people, all coincidentally, come up at the same time to partake in some event truly random in terms of probabilities and possibilities.

OOC: That sounds great! Can the next person post? We will skip Aurelia’s turn until January.

sorry, I didn't see the @ for some reason!!!! I am here now

Thomas had grown fond of the Owlery since his arrival at Hogwarts. Between the hustle and bustle of people and owls with letters to receive or send off, it was constantly busy. It made for a pretty good place to be left alone, oddly enough, and surrounded by people concerned with their own business allowed for Tommy to go about his business in peace. The young wizard pulled out some parchment, his quill, and some ink, and found a vaguely secluded corner (mostly devoid of owl droppings) to get to writing. He'd been missing home a lot, and a letter was long overdue.

A peaceful expression broke out on the boy's face as he wrote the letter to his mother. It was in direct contrast with his typical scowl or impassive expression. Homesickness had been something that he'd been grappling with since his arrival, but Thomas found that it got better when he wrote letters home. The contents of the letter were very different from his usual, clinical means of communication, and he allowed himself to get uncharacteristically touchy-feely with his mother. As a result, the small smile that broke out on his face as he wrote was tinged with a sense of melancholy.

As he took a moment to rest his quill hand, the boy took himself out of his own world to look around at his surroundings.

There was another person in the owlery, though she was so quiet it was no wonder Thomas had not noticed her at all. The girl’s name was Jo, and she was currently chewing on the tip of her quill from frustration.

A clean sheet of parchment sat on the desk in front of her - quite misleading until you saw the crumpled, blackened papers scattered around her. She’d been for there a while.

Terrified of her guardian’s response to her sorting, Jo had been unable to write anything since September. She knew she had promised the woman a letter a month, but she just couldn’t bring herself to do it.

She still remembered vividly the moment of the hat’s decision, and it would be a lie to say that she did not understood its motive for placing her in the house of the brave. Still, she felt like she had failed Lady Aithne in some way - the years of excited chatter about the beauty of the Slytherin common room and the dozens of tips about correctly interacting with the mermaids and other creatures seem in the windows of the underwater dorms had been all for nothing. Why should she have to suffer the punishment for her father’s crimes? For indeed, the crimson edges of her robe cut deep into her heart - a punishment too large for so little the crimes of her own.

So there the girl sat, as always, in the owlery, with too much to say and nothing to write. People came and went - wrote letters to their loved ones and received little packages of happiness in return. They meant nothing but objects of envy to her.

It seemed that nothing would be written today, either. She rolled up the parchment and jammed a cork into her bottle of ink. Noticing another student, she called out to him with a casual remark.

”Busy day?”

She padded up the stairs, hardly noticing the other two already there. Her black hair was held up in two messy buns, and her eyes were always watching her feet. A letter was tightly held in the young girl's grip, the paper making small shuffling noises as Teiki walked into the Owlery.

She hadn't opened the letter yet, but she could already tell it was going to be something big. For one, the letter said it was from her father, which was certainly different. Most were adressed from the family as a whole, or from her mother. Two, the envelope didn't have any scribbles on it. It was an odd thing to look for, but she had found a small scribble from the twins on each envelope, except this one.

Perhaps it was nothing, her just overthinking the entire situation, but she paced the Owlery for a bit, stopping suddenly as she finally noticed the other two in the room. The boy was in the corner, seeming to write a letter. The girl seemed to be doing something similar, although the difficulty seemed increased for her.

Teiki let a loose smile come to her face, shaking off any of the previous anxiety. She waved at the two, before adding a small comment.

"Hello. Writing back to family?"
