Korinna nodded, backing away a little. "That's. That's nice. I'll check out that list sometime." Why hadn't they read ahead? Their father would have thrown a fit.

They could now tell that Sinclair definitely didn't want to talk to them. Like. Even more so than before, of course.. They probably both knew the other wasn't in here just to wash their hands - far from it, actually - but they could pretend, couldn't they?

Judging by Sinclair's tone of voice, they could tell she really wanted to get out of there..

Forcing a smile, they responded in a light voice."I really only came in here to wash my hands, too. Thanks for helping me with the soap." they gave a small smile, flicking the wand playfully. I suppose this mundane conversation has dragged on a little far too long. We should probably head back to class now. a pause.

They'd really hoped to get to know the other person better, know what was bothering them.. but instead it seemed like they'd just made everything worse. Like they always did.

"It's been nice meeting you, Sinclair. Even if our meeting was.. ill-timed. I guess i'll see you around?"

Could they even look at this person anymore without remembering this interaction? Probably not.

Sinclair was a girl of little words, little energy to socialise, little patience. She only knows she has been like this from a young age- looking upon her peers with their energy and faces all so full of expression, but this absence she felt was amplifying with every passing day. It had long surpassed the norm for her. What grief, or lack thereof, consumed her energy like a black hole? After losing contact with Syrah and Eldred, the few trusted people at Hogwarts she used to find company around, she simply was not ready to interact to build any kind of relationship. Mundane, day-to-day conversations only made her more aware of the utter lack of feeling and interest- a result of the funeral she had attended during summer. It made her sick of herself. For now, she will wrap herself in a little cocoon, grieving for her past friendships in the back of her mind, feeling nothing for her family's deaths, and like a soulless robot will follow her aunt's words to be independent.

She catches her own expression in the mirror, blank and unfeeling. It catches her off guard, and she forces a polite curl of the lip towards Korinna, her light hazel eyes underlined with weariness. With a short gesture of her hand she bids the Ravenclaw goodbye, her words empty, "...See you around."

They weren't quite sure why they hadn't left yet. It was something about Sinclair, something that made her just... sad. She was sick and tired of everything, they could kind of tell. A bit cold, a little impatient, maybe she wasn't always like that. Perhaps.. grieving someone? or something? It sparked a curiosity, of course, but it wasn't her place to ask, or to comfort, or. or whatever. Whatever they had both come here to do was. was not the matter of important right now, was it? Wash hands, get back to class. yep.

Korinna nodded again, reaching for the door as she echoed "I-I hope you feel better-" well that sounded pretty ignorant.-a-and I'm. here if you need an ear. I hang around the library a lot. Though I don't know why you'd even want to talk to me, of all people." they nodded. "See you around, Sinclair."

They turned on their heels and opened the door wide, stepping through first and holding the creaky lavatory door open for Sinclair. Perhaps that wasn't polite procedure, but hey, if they.. had Sinclair go through first, it would seem like they were asking them to leave the bathroom, like they were holding up some big glowy neon sign that read 'I'D PREFER NOT TO TALK TO YOU, SO, AFTER YOU!'. Why did everything have to be so complicated?

Why was there more to say when we've both said our farewells? Sinclair nonetheless lingered to hear Korinna's last few words, though her eyes drifted off towards the end, instead glancing to the corridor. The little echo of hoping she felt better was sweet, but...
Though she doesn't know why I'd even talk to her of all people? Sinclair thought bitterly, uncaringly, and her inner voice spat, I don't know why either. The Ravenclaw's self-deprecating comment was more of a nuisance, a sapping of energy- energy that Sinclair didn't have. What am I supposed to say to that? Oh, no, I'd love to hear you passively insult yourself while I do my very best to ease your pain and shower you with sweet meaningless lies? I don't even know you well enough to be honest like that.
She could only think of the countless times at the funeral where her family had heard "they are both in a better place now" and other drivel. Lies meant to just make the other feel better. She was tired of it, and she had no place in her mind to be doing any of that to anyone.
Sinclair loses her smile, thinking her aunt really had a point in telling her that she had to be independent, rely on herself, and make the most of her life... especially when she does not trust easily, and existing around people was tough enough on her mental battery.
A sick, bitter feeling rises in her gut and she just wants to escape from whatever this is.

"...We may see each other at the library," a slightly defeated comment meant only to underline that she, too, sometimes spends time at the library, "But I'd rather not talk. I do not talk to a lot of people," she pauses and glances at Korinna, "Thanks for the door," she lightly gestures, and with a turn of her heel she leaves as quickly as she can without much regard for the Ravenclaw, her skin prickly and her mind demanding solitude. Solace.
