When classes ended for the week, Harvey weighed his options. He could head back to the Slytherin common room for a bit of socializing before dinner. Never hurt to keep up appearances and acquaintances, especially in the first few weeks of school. Summer often went by fast, but at this age change came quick and the boy needed to refresh his memory on who was running with who and to snatch up as many of the incoming first years that he could. Harvey was a second year now, not that he'd let anyone who spoke with him forget it. It was his turn to hold influence and sway over the new class of Hogwarts. If not that then perhaps he would head out to the quidditch pitch. The jocks were surely itching for every excuse to flirt with admirers and horse around on their brooms. This year he was determined to make good friends with a star player. Hopefully from team Slytherin, but any would do really as the clout gained would be immensely beneficial to his social standing. However, something much more pressing used Harvey out to the shores of the Great Lake.

No, he was not an outdoor enthusiast, but the area did provide a private setting that was often hard to find in the cramped castle. Why did he need privacy? The boy needed some time to think and some time to practice. It had become apparent to Harvey that Herbology was going to be the bane of his existence. He had aced all of his end of year exams except one and that damned course was going to ruin his academic record. The blistering reprimand he had received from his grandfather was enough to remind him that failure was not an option, but after the first week of school, Harvey knew he was still going to struggle. There was just something about it he could not grasp. So, the boy would have to dig in deep and pull himself up by the bootstraps, yeah? Extra study time, tutors, the works. Bollocks to that! The little goblin was going to cheat his ass off!

The plan had come to him earlier in the week. There was a girl in his Herbology class that was the perfect mark, but he needed to approach with care. One wrong move and she could go running to tattle or perhaps start rumors about him that he could not afford. The witch in question was a natural with plants. She received top marks every single time, but shine as she may in Herbology, Harvey had spied her peeking at her textbook during a pop quiz in charms. It was just the ammo he needed as the girl was not above cheating. Now all he needed to do was to find what made her tick so that he could convince her to help him. So, he began to practice as he strolled back and forth along the lake. "Hi there. How about that pop quiz in charms the other day? What a doozy, yeah?" That could work. A nice soft opener, but enough to teeter around the subject. Maybe something more straightforward though. Harvey removed a galleon and began to tumble it between his knuckles. "Goodness, I swear I'd give my whole coin purse for a leg up." Hmm. Maybe...
