Earlier that day, Regina had been held back by her Transfiguration professor after class ended, due to her awful performance in the spell they were practicing. She was terrible in Transfiguration; she found out quickly when school started. Though, today was a terrible time for tutoring. She had planned a study session with a friend, and she wasn't keen on being late. Thankfully, the professor released her five minutes early. Enough time for her to sprint down the stairs.
With books and painting supplies in hand, Regina quickly made her way to the courtyard, hoping it's not too crowded. She found a nice, unoccupied spot under a shady tree. Perfect. She gently laid her things on the ground, dusting the area before sitting down.
Regina checked the time. She was two minutes early, so she started laying out her books and materials in order. Goodness! There were a lot of things to study for, especially History of Magic and Herbology. With an irritated huff, she took out her colored pencils that her muggle grandma gifted her, and boxed everything she needed to focus on, scribbling a few stars and shapes and along the way, just for fun.
No matter what, the young Ravenclaw just couldn't seem to focus. She wished her cat was with her; stroking Cosmo's soft fur always helped her concentrate. However, the cat was not here, and it would not be there for her during the exam, so she might as well be doomed.
Anyways... She hoped her friend can give her better ideas. That is, when she arrives.

ReducioIt had been a mere few days. A few days ago, she was named a prefect for Slytherin. Kaitlyn was still unsure of the new responsibilities thrown at her by such a promotion. Frankly, she didn’t mind patrolling too much. She enjoyed walking around, anyway, so patrolling wasn’t the worst thing for her to do. But, ah, she was nervous one of these days about having to reprimand another student. Did she have it in her to do so? What would she even say? Who would even want to listen to a young second-year with her voice slightly cracking?
Now, however, was not the time for Kaitlyn to overthink her responsibilities. Now, she was to meet a friend to study. The fancy part of being a prefect was that she got a fancy Prefect badge to strut around with. While she had to wear it in Hogwarts when officially on duty, that didn’t mean she twirled around the castle, thrusting it in everyone’s faces. No, of course not. Her prefect badge was removed from her Slytherin uniform for this study session. To be more exact, she stored it in a safe pocket of her satchel.
After the Slytherin’s last class, Kaitlyn skipped to the requested meeting location: the Courtyard. She loved studying and reading outside, especially when the weather was nice. It also put her in a pleasant and happy mood, as well! She was absolutely thrilled about it! She was always pleased when that happened. Hopefully, it would lead to a good study session … or even if it led to a fun conversation. Either way, she’d be happy.
Skipping out to the courtyard, Kaitlyn beamed when she saw her friend, Regina, under a tree. “Hi Regina,” she greeted the Ravenclaw happily, as she skipped over to the other girl. “How have you been?” She asked as she sat down next to her, stuffing her skirt underneath her in the process. Slowly, she took out a few of her textbooks to make sure she studied. After all, having all of her books and Regina’s books around should encourage them to do some studying.
“Do you have a subject you wanted to study … or how would you like to do this?” Kaitlyn asked as she unbuckled her low-heeled Mary Janes and slipped them off her feet. She placed her shoes next to her satchel and crossed her legs.Word Count:

The young RavenClaw, with a small bulb of excitement, patiently waited for her friend to make her way through the Courtyard. She had lots of ideas and inspirations she wanted to share, and couldn’t wait to listen to her friends as well. They can have a lovely afternoon together, sharing things they are both interested in, while they study for their test.
”Hello, Kaitlyn,” she greeted her friend with a nod. “I’ve been well, thank you. I was held back in a class, but I managed to make it here in time.” She said, happily.
“How about you?” Regina asked casually. The first-year version of herself would be shocked that a question like this was coming out of her own mouth. She had never been a social butterfly (not that she is now), and would never initiate a conversation, no.
Although, a lot of things happened in a span of two years that completely changed her view about having friends. She used to think they hinder your goals, but discovered the complete opposite. In fact she even enjoys being around her friends nowadays. They offered her so many more ideas that she herself could. Never come up with. Kaitlyn was one of them, and Regina couldn’t be happier to see her on a wonderful afternoon like today.
“I was thinking we could review Transfiguration first, then moving on to the other subjects later. Transfiguration is… not my strongest suit.” She admitted with a grunt. “I can’t seem to focus today, though. So maybe we should start with your choice?”

ReducioHearing Regina’s response to her greeting, Kaitlyn beamed happily. “I’m glad to hear it!” She giggled. While she liked class, she knew it could be very stressful to be held back when you had an agreement to meet with a friend. So, she was thankful to see Regina on time. Of course, what type of friend would she be if she held that against Regina, anyway?
“I’ve been alright. Slightly stressed, but I feel like that always describes me,” Kaitlyn shrugged nonchalantly. She rarely, if ever, worried that much about how she was feeling. She’d rather focus on how other people were feeling, in this case, Regina. To be exact, she was stressed about the prefect duties. What type of a prefect would she be? Could she really put her foot down when needed? Demand to be listened to, through the authority vested in her through the prefect badge?
Kaitlyn was glad to see Regina talking more. It helped the conversation to flow better. Plus, it meant social growth! Kaitlyn was happy not to be stuttering anymore. It genuinely surprised her that anyone even wanted to talk to her when she was stuttering. Thankfully, Regina was one of the students who talked to her at that time. And now, here they were.
“I don’t blame you, it can be quite hard,” Kaitlyn agreed with a nod. Transfiguration was difficult for her, too. It was helpful that she liked a challenge. She would definitely call Transfiguration challenging. The worst was when they had to transfigure animals … it never sat well with her. That may be because of her muggleborn blood status, however.
“Well, if you need someone to talk to, I’m always willing to listen. But, my choice? Hm, how about … Charms? I keep messing up the incantations,” she admitted.Word Count:
