Circle the dark-skinned boy, she did. Raising her wand, Shauna cast the Knockback Jinx without an issue, streak of green light proving its success. Clearly the extra effort taken to execute her spell had paid off. Or had it? The faint streak of green dissipated to nothing; spell had missed its target! At the last second, Donnovan had seen her coming, nimbly dodging the trajectory of her cast. And what was worse, her focus left her open for an attack. Another bang sounded from somewhere nearby, followed immediately by a forceful impact to Shauna's core ─ enough to knock her back! Instincts clearly kicked in, however, for her grip did not yield. After a period of disorientation, Shauna would find herself barely managing to hang onto her broom, but still firmly in the game! Although a winded, and perhaps a little worse for wear, she could pull herself up and fight on.@Shauna Starr
Wand now in hand, it was time to get back in the game, and Donnovan wasted little time in that effort. As he had anticipated, despite the persistent sneezing, the booming echo of a bang erupted from his wand, signalling that he had successfully cast his spell. But just as he had been thinking, Quinn was no ordinary flyer. Quidditch skills put to good use, Donnovan's opponent dodged with amazing ability, the impact of the knockback jinx dissipating harmlessly to some space no longer occupied. But perhaps the miss was not all in vain. The time lost to poor accuracy was time gained in defence. At the last second, Donnovan was able to dodge Shauna's attack, remaining firmly on his broom. The game was not over yet for him; but, at long last, it seemed that the sneezing finally was.@Donnovan Perrywinkle
Sacrificing time and attention to save his falling classmate had been, well, a sacrifice. Despite that, Jorah had recovered quickly, immediately spotting a worthy blonde-haired target, Erik. But just as Jorah raised his wand in Erik's direction, so too had Erik spotted Jorah and raised his own wand in kind! As though in slow motion, the two players seemed almost to circle each other, Erik's twisted, snarling expression in stark contrast to Jorah's cool, collected countenance. Synchronised, the two boys shouted, their own bangs adding to the din of explosions all around them. Immediately, Erik would feel a massive impact as he was blown back, requiring him to hold on for dear life so as not to fall. Only one spell cast successfully ─ Jorah's. Somewhat ironically, having just witnessed his friend's spell backfire, Erik's had backfired. Whether he would realise that or not was another matter entirely, as Jorah's spell had also hit him, albeit only grazing Erik in the chaos of the backfire. When the figurative dust settled, however, the two were very much still in the game: Erik hanging from his broom by his mighty grip, winded and disoriented; and Jorah, unscathed.@Jorah Moussa & @Erik Tharaldson
Although perhaps her spongy wand had disappointed her, River's persistence would not. Taking advantage of Shauna's distraction with Donnovan, River would finally hear that oh-so-satisfying bang that signalled a magnificently successful cast. What was even better, it seemed as though the small girl hadn't even seen it coming. It struck true, sending the girl flying. Only...she didn't fall. Somehow, the strength of River's target defied the girl's size and River could see her just barely managing to hang onto her broom. Unfortunately, she wasn't out of the game just yet, but even at this distance, she definitely appeared a little battered. Perhaps this tempered success was a sign of what was to come next, for in her hand, River would feel her wand firm up.@River Dewlight

Sorry Quinn, I missed your write-up!
Mucus and bogies still flowing heavily, Quinn was a sight to behold for spectator and participant alike. And not in a good way. Not that it was any sort of cakewalk for him either. Incessant sneezes sprayed phlegm everywhere, making casting nigh on impossible, and the veil of mucus and snot made it increasingly difficult to target anything with any sort of accuracy even with a successful cast. But he didn't attempt to cast. Instead, he had laid eyes on an aggressor. With Donnovan coming in hot, there was no doubt about the boy's intention. A wand raised, a bang echoed, and then....nothing. True to Quinn's silent plea, his hand-eye coordination surely hadn't failed him, and with the dexterity of the experienced Quidditch player that he was, Quinn dodged deftly out of the spell's trajectory. He ─ and all his gooey grossness ─ was still in the game!@Quinn Healy

Donnovan missed! He'd missed his target Quinn, but it was no surprise. He was a fairly good Quidditch player, no doubt about that. But it did surprise Donny, when he himself smartly dodged the spell shot at him by the girl who'd been eyeing him like a hawk. Maybe she was up for a challenge, and maybe so was Donny. He flew up higher in the air, looking down upon the mess that was still being cleaned up from last round. A good chunk of people were knocked off, and maybe that was good? At least it wasn't Donny who had been knocked off his broom yet, as he remained in the fourth round. He thought carefully, a still grip on his wand.
He looked at the the girl, who didn't seem to be paying much attention to him now. She was just hanging by a thread, almost literally. He thought of his actions smartly and impulsively. He pulled out his wand, pointing at the back of her chest, and-
"Slugulus Eructo!"
He said. It wasn't the cleanest, or most tactical spell, but it was enough to get her off his back for at least the remainder of the game. Besides, it wasn't a banned spell. He flew up and swerved, looking around to make sure he wasn't a target for anyone. Then, he looked back down, waiting to see of the reaction he was waiting for would suffice. It was odd for the young Hufflepuff, but revenge felt good for the first time in his life. "Take that, you pesky little worm!"

Erik had not at all been prepared for this. He had been prepared for the impact of Jorah's spell, but not for his very own to backfire like that. When that happened Erik could, just in time snatch the shaft of his broom and held on for dear life. This game had gone from bad to worse in no time. At the start it had gone so well with the Hufflepuff losing his wand, thanks to him, but now. Well, if you looked at him now he wasn't even able to cast a simple spell.
Erik was making a fool of himself and he knew it. He had to change things up. He had to play it differently. He had to tap into something he had learned to hide as well as he could. The werewolf had to tap into his bestial side if he wanted to win this. With that, he closed his eyes as he took a moment to tap into his werewolf side. His anger grew, his grip grew tighter as he barely controlled himself not to break his Nimbus 1000's shaft in half with his bare hands. Erik let out such a loud, wild and angry roar as he flung himself back on top of his broom.
Once seated on top of his broom his eyes scanned wildly and hungrily for his prey. They had mocked him. They had targeted him. No more. No more he would play by the rules. Now it was time for sheer vengeance. When he had finally locked his venomous green eyes on the Ravenclaw that had dared target him earlier, he gripped his Nimbus 1000 as hard as he could. He aimed his broom in his direction and shot as fast as he could in his direction, aiming to shoulder push him off of his broom. Rules be damned. This was personal.

Flipendo! Jorah watched as a blue light shot forward from the tip of his wand. Full of adrenaline, he witnessed his surroundings unfold in slow motion. The light from his jinx traveled straight and true towards its target. The target, a young blonde boy who was casting his own jinx at Jorah. A similar blue light erupted from the tip of the other boy's wand, but instead of barreling forward, it swirled backwards along the length of his wand before knocking himself off of his broom. Jorah's jinx managed to brush the boy as he fell, inflicting additional damage. His opponent was strong, and his iron grip kept him holding on. He was injured and dangling off of his broom, but he was still very much in this game.
What is going on?!? Jorah thought to himself. Within a few minutes, a second opponent's spell had backfired! Jorah looked down on his Larch wood wand with new appreciation. Thank you for your loyalty. Jorah's attention was stolen by an intense and ferocious roar. He watched as his opponent summoned the strength to hop back onto his broom. In the failing twilight, Jorah saw it, piercing green eyes which burned with a wild rage. This guy was pissed. Jorah starred down his opponent, watching as the boy sped straight for him, but the blonde wasn't holding out his wand. No, not this time, this time he was out for blood. An"Oh $#!^!!" escaped Jorah's mouth. Not to be out done by a Slytherin, the Ravenclaw quickly pocketed his wand, gripped his broom tight, and flew straight toward his opponent. Just before the impact, Jorah let out his war cry, "Let's do this! LEEE-ROOOY!!!"

Well this was a right mess he got himself into so there was only one reasonable thing he could do. It was time to get down and dirty. If he timed it right then he could argue that his action was a true accident the question was who should he target? That's when he heard the scream...no it couldn't be could he..."Oh thank the gaeds yes!" He exclaimed turning his broom and aiming straight for Jorah. He intentionally started to fumble around looking for his wand, despite knowing where he put it though. All the disgusting mucus and phlegm was making it a bit hard to see. With his other hand he guided his broom forward.
His aim was unmistakably to run into Jorah. He was loud and would make it easier for Quinn to ram into hopefully. Barreling full speed and still acting as if he was trying to fish out his wand Quinn tried it. If he was going out then he would go out with a spectacular crash. Mucus, phlegm and all. Gods why did he have to forget that spell, it was so unlike him. Well he couldn't think about that now he needed to focus! "ACHOO!!!"

Okay maybe that wasn't the best spell to try to use right now but hey whatever; not like she'd have known that before anyways. Truth be told she was sort of surprised that she was able to cast the spell; mostly because she hadn't cast it since the day of class. No matter though; she was just happy that the spell worked...that is until her target moved course. Oh crap the look in his eye's....she forgot to move her butt back to her hiding place after casting the spell which left her open as a target.
For some reason she wasn't thinking about moving it was like she was stuck in one place while in mid air however that changed when she was hit with a spell which sent her flying.....which is ironic considering she is on a broom. However this sort of flying she had no sort of control over her body while her broom remained station; the spell hit her at an odd angle....she had been able to hold on with one hand and hooked at the ankle. She had no idea this was an actual Quidditch position but at the moment didn't care either as it took her a few to get back on her broom....she looked at her current position then tried something figuring she would either be on her broom or fall. She gripped the broom and rolled it along with her body like a torpedo which much to her surprise worked to get her back on her broom. However all of this madness didn't stop her from being the target to yet another spell in the midst of all this craziness she didn't even think about casting anything all she could concentrate on is dodging.

[/font]There was a satisfied glint in River’s eyes as her spell hit the target quite marvellously. The young dhampir felt a slight twinge of guilt as she thought about hurting her fellow Hogwarts students, but it was a game, and everybody knew what they were signing up for. At the same time, there was nothing better than casting a successful spell on your intended target and seeing it take its effect. The targeted girl was stronger than she looked and the spell was not enough to trip her off balance.
River took a quick glance around herself, and decided her next target. Some were getting physical up in here, flying their brooms right into one another, something River thought best not to interfere with for the time being. There was one boy, a familiar one that she had spoken with before, that River's eyes landed on.
As far as the ravenclaw could see, no one seemed to be targeting him, so River took her aim. Her wad had worn off the effects of the previously failed spongify spell, and she gripped her wand tight and made the movement for the spell she had decided to cast. River hoped that with a normal wand, the spell would succeed and hit her target just as her previous cast had. She focused in on her target and said the incantation as she aimed her best for Donnovan. "Rictusempra!"Action || Cast Tickling Charm on Donnovan Perrywinkle.
