How many books had Millie read on liking people of her gender? It was book after book, trying to figure out what the hell was going on in her mind. Was this normal? Did everyone feel this way?

Every time she had ever left her house with her parents, or anyone, it had always been male and female people who were very obviously madly in love, she had never really seen any girl and girl couples. Gosh! If only someone else were to come in and help her decipher what the hell was going on in her brain- this process would be a thousand times easier.

She opened the next muggle-science book. What was it about plants and something about the human body? Was there anything she had checked out in the library about this topic? Was it something the adults were trying to hide from her?

She looked through the table of contents, and groaned when she saw nothing to suit her needs. She lay her head down on the table in front of her and felt a pang of disappointment. Clicking her tongue, she flickered through the book to try and see if there was something the book had left out.

"Oh Hogwarts, why do you disappoint me so?" Her voice echoed through the nearly-empty Study Room. This was going to be a very long session.

Studying was something Saskia had naturally grown a bit more accustomed to as she got more used to being in Hogwarts. Lessons and topics that have been tedious and difficult to understand were getting easier to deal with, now that she had gotten a better grasp at a proper studying schedule. Even Transfiguration wasn't as hard as it appeared to be, and with enough time, she was confident to say that she was quickly catching up to her peers.

Today would have been another study period. There were many tests coming up this week and the weeks afterwards. It was that time of the year when more homework and tests were piling up after the initial few months of starting school, and the time before winter break would start. It wasn't that bad yet, but from experience, Saskia knew it would only get worse later on, even after winter break was over. Last year was somewhat of a challenge, although it wasn't necessarily terrible. But who knew what would happen this year, when she had to balance her responsibilities as a Quidditch Captain, her social life, and her studies? At this rate, she probably wouldn't have any free time to herself. Such was the price she had to pay in order to do well in school.

Of course, she wouldn't be tackling all of her subjects at once. Today, she had been focusing on Charms. It was straightforward enough, and she wouldn't be needing any extra material to study for it. All she needed were her textbook, her notes, and some concentration. Especially concentration. That was why it would have been more convenient to go to the study room instead of the library. Less people were there, and the room was much quieter. It was perfect for a peaceful study session.

It had been an hour or so, and Saskia was proud to say that she had gotten a lot done in that time. If she could, she would have definitely kept going for possibly another hour, but it was pointless. She had already gone over the same concepts multiple times, and even if she went over it another time, it wouldn't change anything. It was already well ingrained in her mind. There wasn't any need to overdo it.

As the girl went to pack her things, she noticed someone from the corner of her eye. She only looked vaguely familiar, but there was no mistaking it. It was Millie, a girl she had briefly met last year. From where Saskia was standing, it seemed like she was trying to find something, most likely a book. It was likely, considering they were in the study room. She couldn't really blame her. There were a lot of books- it would have been hard to keep track of where everything was at all times.

After putting everything back in her bag, Saskia walked over to where the girl was. "Hey. Are you looking for something?"

The interesting thing about Millie was how her purple hair matched her purple eyes down to the shade. Some would say magic, but Millie insists that it was the nice muggle woman who did her hair at a salon in Birmingham. Muggles can't use magic though! No, but they do have eyesight, and colors aren't very hard to mimic.

That being said, was there some way she could magic her answers? No, probably not. Answers for a subject like the one Millie was studying, could not simply be magicked into existence, just like the salon lady didn't use magic to dye Millie's hair.

As she slammed her science book shut, a puff of air flew up and hit her face, making her hair fly backwards slightly, and, yes, under the light in the Study Room, the highlights in her hair matched her eye color. She sighed. Her eyes matched her hair, and while that was nice, she still wanted to know what the hell was wrong with her brain.

Just when she lost all hope, a girl with brown hair walked up, and asked what Millie was looking for. The latter smiled and looked up. "Oh, uh, just something on liking the same gender," She said, tilting her head. "There's nothing about it in the books here, which is quite disappointing."

To be honest, that wasn't quite what she expected. Saskia had been prepared to hear something that might have been common to discuss in the study room. Maybe she needed help finding a particular book on magic, or she just happened to be interested in something that Muggles did in the Muggle world. But in this case, she was talking about, well, sexuality. It was a subject that wasn't necessarily odd in the wizarding world, and that might have been why a lot of people, Saskia included, didn't seem to think twice about it. To her, it was perfectly natural for two people to like each other, regardless of whatever gender or sex these two people were. What made it different for two people of the same sex to love each other anyway? That was one thing Saskia couldn't understand about the Muggle world. They might have been more progressive in technology than wizards were, but they certainly still needed work on getting rid of their old prejudices.

"That's weird. There should be something around here." The girl frowned to herself as she glanced around the room. It was true, though. At least to Saskia, there were at least some curious kids who might have wanted to know more about it, especially if they themselves were exploring their own feelings on the topic. It wouldn't have felt right if the school didn't let them have that opportunity to do it, especially in a place where it was supposedly welcomed and accepted. "I don't exactly know where it is, at the moment, but I can help you look for it, if you want," she offered, turning back to the girl with a smile. She was already done her work, and she had nothing else to do. She could definitely make some time to help out a friend.

woops, got caught up in thanksgiving preps and forget to respond, sorry bout that :)
@Saskia Nicholson

Well, yes having nothing of interest about her topic was definitely weird. Didn't Hogwarts even think of questioning students? It was like a repression like something they would do in America. Or any country that wasn't accepting, honestly.

Millie knew a ton about how people were really mean and rude, like gender differences from back in the 1950s or something, when it was really recorded. Which, to Millie, was kind of stupid. Why did people feel the need to bully others over something dumb like skin color? What about sexuality?

Man, this was getting dumb and confusing.

As soon as Saskia offered help, Millie nodded her head and smiled. "Definitely! I could use it." It was actually surprising for Millie, though not 'out of the blue'. It had been a while since someone had actually offered help, it was usually her offering help to other people. Especially first years, since they needed the most help.

She closed the book she was currently reading, and put it in a rather large pile. On the table she was at, there were two piles. One, where she had all the books she had already searched through, and the other where she had yet to look in them. "I already scoured the library for science books and anything else about it, but there could be stuff in the restricted section, too," She pulled the next book. "But we're not allowed in there."

@Euphrasia Millie No worries! And sorry for this late reply as well.
Saskia beamed at the other girl when she accepted her help. Helping people was nice. It made her feel useful, and it was always good to make people feel better somehow, even if it was something relatively small. She supposed it was her Hufflepuff nature that urged her to lend a hand to anyone who needed it, but really, wasn't it common decency to help others when they needed it? It wasn't just something only a certain group of people did. The characteristics of a group didn't define the individual, and the actions made by several members of a group didn't mean that someone was obligated to act the same way. People were different. People may have their similarities with one another, but no one was truly the same.

Saskia glanced over at the pile of books laid out on the table nearby with, her eyes slightly widened at the sight of how many books there were. Judging from how Millie placed the book she was previously holding on one of the piles, she assumed that the first pile was meant for the books she had already read. She wasn't entirely sure whether or not the second pile was just another stack of books she had already read, or if they were books she still had to go through, but she was guessing it was the latter, considering how the books themselves were arranged in two different sides of the table. Either way, it was an impressive amount of books. Millie must have been looking for a long time. She had to give it to her for being so determined to find what she wanted out of a big place like the library.

"That might be true, but I think it would be reasonable that there would be at least some books in the regular section of the library. It wouldn't make sense if all of those books were in the restricted section. There's no reason to hide something so significant to people, especially those who might need it," she remarked, momentarily glancing back at the library aisles before looking back at the piles of books Millie had gathered.

"How many books do you think you've already gone through already?" she asked, stepping closer towards the piles to try to get her own estimate on how many books were already there. There was certainly a lot, but she wanted to get a better idea of what she was working with.
