Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw: Match 2
As she watched Cassius fall from their repeated casting, another blast came right in her face. She felt the heat of the spell and turned to Aida with a smile.
"See? That's exactly why you had to be bonded! That one was pretty hurtful!" she said to Aida as the explanation, as if it could give any relief.
Now the duel was even less fair than before. But the Ravenclaws already proved that it was not the year of the student that mattered, but the experience, wit and dexterity.

If this was to be Galton’s last time on the dueling piste, he was going to make it loud. Any reservations he had related to spell selection was lost as he sent another confringo towards Cassius. While the fog obscured Galton from seeing the results, he knew from the pause his spell had done its job.
He heard Meenauh exchange a few words towards the other side of the piste, and couldn’t help but smile. This was getting fun.

Damion was feeling a mixed of emotions. He could see Cassius was out and now the whole team was on Aida and himself. He was hoping they'd be enough to make the team win. He gave a thumbs up to Aida hoping to encourage her to be stronger. He was not wanting to jinx the team's win.

The loss of Cassius hit Aida hard. If only they had been able to do something, anything other than struggle, then maybe it wouldn't have had to go like this. Now it was a matter of doing one's best even when the chips were down. Sighing, Aida nodded at Damion and prepared for the next round.

Lips crimped, the dull gray closing in all around her once more even as it had just started dissipating. If only she had the same sort of spatial sense as Pericles. Still, the match game to a brief pause, which could only mean one thing. "You two are still standing, I should hope?" she called out gently to her teammates. Their incantations only moments before would suggest they were, but things could change on a dime in a duel. Meenauh's retort to Aida confirmed that she yet remained upright, and Galton hadn't spoken yet since his cast, but she couldn't imagine the Eagles to be able to take him down quite so swiftly. Eden, then, she surmised. One down. Two to go. |

Effect: Meenauh, Galton, and Evelynn evade the Cracker Jinx.
Having wrapped Aida up in cords before, the Gryffindor team knew how much easier their journey to the finish line would be if they had one less person to worry about. It seemed like they were intent on catching the wix again as Evelynn lined up an almost perfect Trip Jinx and sent Aida stumbling. However, Galton couldn’t make it past the hinderance of the black fog surrounding him. His attempt to bind Aida’s arms with cords couldn’t hit them as the wix was just too good avoiding his aim, despite their ankles tangling for a second. The last Gryffindor healed herself from the injuries that the Blasting Curse left her with, fueling herself up to match the other lions.
Their opponents’ attack failed, so Pyxis hoped that the remaining Ravenclaws could get some good shots in. Unfortunately, it looked like bad luck was plaguing both sides of the piste. Aida went for another Blasting Curse, this time at Evelynn. Their previous one was so devastating, so it made sense to repeat the action. A lapse in memory would stop the spell before Aida could get the incantation out though, causing no goodness gracious great ball of fire to go sailing across the piste. Damion, intent on causing some damage to all three lions, conjured up a set of crackers. The bird would see no success as all three avoided them easily. Galton in particular showed off some fancy footwork that had Pyxis questioning if he was rooting for the underdog.

| xxx | The match continued post haste, the unconscious form of Eden barely having been removed from the piste before spells returned to slinging. Unwilling to give the birds any room to regroup, Evelynn aimed for the general vicinity of where she knew Aida to be. Nearby, she heard the telltale casting of a healing spell from Meenauh, no doubt tending to the wounds she'd just sustained from the deadly albino witch. Which meant it would rest on Galton to capitalize on an unbalanced Aida. Whether successful or not, however, Evelynn just couldn't slice far enough through the fog to confirm. Then again, only Damion could be heard casting, intending to send a cracker jinx into their midst. So perhaps they had managed to tie his partner down again after all. It was getting close now. The match would be called soon, but anything could happen, so she decided upon her next counter. |

Usually, when something doesn't meet its target, the exchange of spells was considered uneventful. But against the fearsome beasts like the birds were, a successful and timed healing spell was considered no waste at all.
She watched the exchanged, dodged the crackers, heal herself, and just prepared to whatever was coming next from the Ravenclaws. Being 3 against 2 didn't mean anything really, because she knew there were always aces in their sleeves.

Even with the fog Galton knew he missed. His senses were so tuned to being visionless that hearing the bindings fall to the piste was trivial. He knew the wix to be an exceptionally slippery target, but he still couldn’t help but cringe at his failure.
Now was no time to despair. With the end in sight they needed to focus on keeping their lead. Every seasoned duelist knew such a lead meant little when there was still time left to cast.

Damion could feel the duel getting closer to finish. He was somewhat disappointed since he knew the other team was doing better than their team. Did he somehow jinx it? He was not sure about it. But he was sure he was going to do his best till he fell down unconscious.
