Penelope had always loved being on stage. She had never admitted this to anyone, but she would love to be a great actress. The only reason she could never be an actor was because she did not like spectators, even at actual shows. She would freeze up and forget what she was doing. She had come into the rehearsal room because it had a stage, and no one ever came in this room. She walked up the wooden stairs, onto the grand stage. She looked around. The large room smelled of something that she could not quite describe, like excitement. She thought of something she could do on the stage, and then it came to her.
"Hello, we meet again." she said to herself. This character's name would be Gabriel.
"Yes, and quite a long time it has been. I still refuse your offer. I will never join you." Penelope said, moving to the other side of the stage. She named this one Patrick.
"Ahh, but you see, if you do not, the consequences will be large, and I do not believe you would like to know what they are." said Gabriel. Penelope put her hands on her hips. She spoke loudly, cheating out to the empty room as she acted out this scene.
"Gabriel, how many time do I have to tell you, I am not joining you! I have the entire Ministry on my side! Who do you have?" yelled Patrick. Penelope threw her arms in the air as she said this. She took a few steps toward the invisible character, pulling out her wand for dramatic effect.
"Fine, Patrick. If this is how you wish to play, so be it." She lunged at the invisible Patrick and flew backwards and forwards, pretending to deflect spells and be hit. Finally, she fell to the floor. Penelope had had a wonderful time. She was out of breath, and dare not think about what would happen if someone would walk in at this moment, seeing her laying there, flat on the ground, her stomach heaving up and down.

The hustle and bustle of the holidays brought great joy to Olphie, and yet, she couldn't shake the nagging feeling that she was missing something. Not Caradoc - though she still longed for their lips to meet once more, she had occasionally seen him around, most recently at that letdown of a masquerade ball. (Professor duties took precedence, of course, but she hadn't even had a chance to flirt!) Not her siblings - they were a constant ache in her chest, but she still could not reconcile what to do with these feelings. No, it was for something - someone - else. Barnaby Ryker.

The Ravenclaw Head of House was, quite possibly, one of the most elusive figures in Hogwarts. Olphie had partly taken the job in hopes to spark a romance, though she had been thrown off-target by the equally as dashing Caradoc. But the Flying professor had surmised that Barnaby would be more...accessible. She still had not truly found herself in the same room as him, able to unleash her charms on the man who most needed charming. It was disappointing, to say the least.

Today would be different, however. Olphie had read in one of the tabloids that Barnaby had recently taken up music, which is how she found herself in this corner of the castle. She was on a mission; though it looked peculiar that she did not carry anything that would be worth rehearsing with, she knew she could create an excuse to explain to Barnaby why she had ended up there, after they had kissed the night away.

As she ventured deeper into the rehearsal area, she heard voices coming from the room. Her eyes narrowed as she sought to concentrate on the sound emitting from the crack under the door. If this is how you wish to play, so be it? The voice was a bit higher than she had expected Barnaby to sound, but perhaps he was rehearsing for a play to accompany his new talents. Life certainly must be a bore when you couldn't practice Quidditch as often as you could when you were the Flying Professor.

With a fresh application of neon-pink lip gloss, Olphie breathed deeply and opened the door, booming a, "Hello?" with the movement. But though she had expected to see Barnaby behind the door, she saw a significantly smaller figure on the ground, instead. Olphie gasped and rushed toward the girl, attempting to place her hand on her chest in order to check for heartbeat. As she did so, she noted that the girl's chest was moving up and down. So. She was alive. But the question remained, which Olphie asked simply: "Are you alright, dear?"

Penelope was drift off, to a different world. Somewhere she had never been before. Perhaps it was Greece. There were long, cobblestone streets, and the air seemed to glitter with dew and sun. It was the perfect time of day, and the sun was just warm enough, so she was happy. She was walking along the street, a basket it her hand, and she felt as if she didn't have a care in the world. Suddenly, she was roused from her dream by a woman, a teacher by the looks of it, who was asking, "Are you alright, my dear?" Penelope felt her face flush with embarrassment. She must've fallen asleep after her acting! How, how could she do this? She hated herself for this, and she sat up quickly. I'm alright, it-it's been a long week and I was in here, erm, acting. I-I love to act but I don't like an audience. I decided to just be on stage and get a feel for it, but I must've fallen asleep." she said, her face flushing once again. It was a lame excuse, and now she felt as if she was wasting the woman's time. Penelope quickly got up and became dizzy, although she tried not to let it show. She couldn't let the teacher think something was wrong with her. She smoothed out her robe and sweater, and picked up her wand. She had dropped it next to her feet during the "fight" and was glad that she hadn't stepped on it. "So, what brings you to this part of the castle? I don't suppose people come in here often, unless-erm- they're rehearsing something?" she said awkwardly. She felt stupid for saying it, why would a teacher tell her what she was doing? It wasn't any of Penelope's business anyway.
