✽Today was the day. The day that would change Avery’s summer for the better. Even though the train ride was just a few hours long, it felt like years as she watched the scenery pass by. It was beautiful, but Avery paid it no mind. All she could think about was summer camp. It was going to be her first year attending a real camp, so she didn’t know what to expect.
Jasper meowed loudly from his carrier which broke Avery out of her train of thoughts. He had never been a big fan of traveling, so she knew she would pay for putting him in there later.
She glanced over to where Dylan had fallen asleep across from her. His cat, Alaska, also sleeping within his carrier. Avery smiled. She was glad that he had been able to get a cat of his own. Especially one that was a lot like him. They were the perfect duo.
Avery couldn’t remember the rest of the train ride. She must have fallen asleep because she woke up to the train halting abruptly. Avery stretched before she stood up and walked out of the compartment she was in while Dylan followed closely behind.
Avery knew there wasn’t time to stand and stare as the familiar sights of London hit her, but she couldn’t help it. It had been so long since she had last been in the city that she had almost forgotten what it was like.
Dylan was actually the one that brought her back into the real world. He had grabbed her arm and started dragging her towards where he thought the stadium was. Avery laughed at him before showing him the right way to go.
The walk was long, but easy. Avery knew they could have taken a cab, but she knew that it wasn’t a good idea. The risk of breaking anonymity to muggles as far as who she was didn’t sound appealing. So they walked and walked until the stadium was finally before them.
Avery smiled. They had made it to the place where she could finally be free from everything that had gone on so far that summer. Though she knew the summer was far from over as far as events. When magic was involved somewhere, things didn’t always go well. She knew that from many experiences and rumors she had heard and seen as she grew up.
The first thing Avery knew she had to do was find the tent and drop everything off. She didn’t know if she and Dylan were going to be the first to arrive considering they had been held back by the train ride, but she at least wanted a good bed before they were all taken. She also couldn’t wait to meet her tent mates! She knew a couple of them already, but it was always fun to meet new people!
After what felt like hours of searching through the rows of tents, Avery finally found the tent that had been reserved for her and her friends. She smiled as she walked inside. The theme was amazing and she couldn’t wait to wake up to it in the morning!
Avery chose a bed in one of the corners of the tent and watched as Dylan claimed a bed close to hers, but still far enough away that she would have her own space. She was happy that he had done that. He had probably guessed that she wanted to spend some time making new friends, so at least he had opened that door.
Avery set her things and opened the door to Jasper’s carrier so he could stretch his legs. He walked out, stretched, gave his owner the stink eye and stalked off to explore the tent. Avery laughed as she saw a flash of white fur follow. It seemed as if both cats were happy to be free and explore their new surroundings.
Now at that was left was to finally meet her tent mates. She couldn’t wait to see who would arrive next! ✽

✽Today was the fateful day where Dylan would be attending summer camp in London. In all the years he had lived in Wales, he had never been to London. At least, he thought he had never been. He would have to confirm that with his mother later. Anyway, Dylan had no clue what he was getting himself into. All he knew that was he was going to be staying in a tent with only a couple people he actually knew. He just hoped that the rest of the tent mates were friendly.
The train ride had been relaxing. The gentle swaying of the train and the sound of the wheels running along the track beneath him was too much. Of course he fell asleep quickly.
Having slept the entire ride, Dylan was disheveled and nearly fell out of his seat when the train suddenly lurched to a stop at the station. He sat up groggily and rubbed his eyes before he stood. He quickly attempted to flatten his sleep disheveled hair, but he actually gave up. There was no use in trying to fix it now without a mirror. It probably wouldn’t lay flat, anyway.
He followed Avery as she made her way to the station platform. That’s when she just stopped dead in her tracks. Dylan almost said something before he realized why she had stopped. The city was beautiful in its own way with the tall buildings and gloomy overcast sky that promised rain.
Dylan knew that they didn’t have time for this. They had to get to camp soon so they wouldn’t be the last ones arriving in their tent. Dylan grabbed Avery and began pulling her in the direction he thought was the way to the stadium, but he unsurprisingly found that he was going the complete opposite way.
The walk was long, but amazing. Dylan couldn’t stop staring at the narrow alleys and tall buildings that stood before him. He could understand why Avery didn’t like it, though. After growing up in freedom, this place felt like a prison with its tall buildings and bustling streets.
Finally they had made it to camp and were attempting to find their tent. Dylan nearly laughed at how hard it was to find their tent in the rows and rows that stood before them. It would take years to search every one, so he hoped they would find theirs soon.
Alas, their tent was found after what felt like years of searching. Dylan followed Avery inside and immediately he claimed a bed by flopping onto it. Letting the fresh sheets and blankets embrace him like a warm hug. He had slept the entire train ride, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t still exhausted. He hadn’t slept well the night before, so he hoped he could at least stay awake long enough to meet his tent mates.
He heard the zipper to Jasper’s carrier unzip and he realized Alaska probably wanted out too. He sat up and opened the door to his own cat’s carrier. The cat quickly shot out to follow his brother search their new home for the next couple of weeks. Dylan laughed before he fell onto his bed again and stared at the ceiling. Awaiting the others to arrive. ✽

Summer Days
Mikey was content in the front seat of his dad's old car as they inched along the traffic on the outskirts of the city. The windows were rolled down enough that a warm wind blew through, and the gentle hum of the Muggle radio resonated in the background, even though neither of them had actually said very much at all since they'd pulled off the main motorway. Mikey gazed out the window, nervously fingering the ring on his finger, the one that Avery had discovered and returned just as school let out.
"Everybody ready?" his dad asked, the voice rough but warm. "Yeah," Mikey concurred, voice nervous. "Thanks for the ride." His dad leaned over and squeezed his shoulder. "Don't forget to try and write to your mom. And maybe, I don't know… have a good time." Mikey grinned and said, "I'll try."
They arrived at a curve in the road, close to the stadium grounds. That was more hidden so less chance of anyone seeing a Muggle car driving up to the entrance. Mikey hauled his bag out of the back seat as his dad swung the boot open, where the carrier for KodoPodo was stowed, door already ajar. The ferret wriggled out with a snarl and settled into Mikey's arms like an irritable prince.
Be good, his father commanded, more to the ferret than to Mikey. "I make no promises," Mikey grinned, and then glanced at his father again. "I'll see you in a few weeks." With a flick, he slung the bag over his shoulder and headed off to the stadium.
The stroll was longer than he had anticipated, meandering along the edges of Muggle London until the skyline faded behind high hedges and spells of magical concealment. Beyond the first hidden checkpoint, the noises changed, distant calliope music wafted on the breeze, combined with the aroma of hot popcorn and magic lemon fizz.
As Mikey entered the campgrounds, he was quietly sweating and puffing, but the spectacle brought him to a halt and left him agape. Tents of every style stood as far as the eye could see, On the horizon, the giant shadow of the Ferris Wheel rotated slowly above the carnival. He heard children giggling, animals scurrying about, and through it all, the buzz of magic thick in the air.
A goblin gestured him along the check in route, and after a brief scan of his name, Mikey was dispatched down to the resident tents. He followed a wooden sign in the shape of an outstretched pointing finger and started to navigate between rows of wizarding temporary housing.
When he did eventually find the correct tent, he lingered outside for a moment. From behind the cover came soft sounds of cats playing and a joyful laugh. He swung open the cover and stepped in. Inside was far better than he'd ever have dreamed, soft light from glowing spheres, magical starlight above the roofline, and beds arranged in a cozy circle. Jasper padded past him like royalty, KodoPodo tagging along after him like a pesky little brother.
Avery's gaze came up from the bed, sparkling. "Hey," Mikey dropped his bag onto a nearby bed quietly. "I was afraid you wouldn’t make it." He grinned, winded from the hike and bewildered at how much better everything already felt with her in here. His tone was joking, but the warmth behind it wasn’t. He saw Dylan and waved at him in the way an old friend might. Mikey was just pleased to be there. With her. With friends. And finally, with a summer that could possibly be better than he had imagined.

Claire sat quietly on the train. She was both excited and nervous. Night, confined to a cat transport box, was meowing constantly. Music wasn't doing much to ease her excitement or stress. It was her first time going to a place like this and she didn't know any of the students in the tent except Avery.
When the train stopped, she quickly grabbed her things and left the train station, so as not to attract the attention of the other muggles, as her naughty black cat had made quite a noise.
Claire had only been to London a few times, but she couldn't stop herself from looking around. Night meowed again, and she came back to her senses. She didn't know the time, but she was pretty sure she was a little late.
The journey to the Quidditch stadium was long and tiring. Knowing her phone wouldn't work when she arrived, she put her phone and headphones in her bag. Claire was out of breath as she made her way to the tents.
Finding her own tent was harder than Claire had anticipated. When she finally found the one she would be staying in among the many tents, Claire took a deep breath and went inside.
When Claire took her cat out, she went to the two cats and started following them, both to be free and to make new friends and to explore the tent.
"Hello my tent mates. Good day."
Her slight French accent was evident as she spoke. she spoke in a slightly shy tone.

This was going to be Victoria's first summer away from home—her first summer that might actually be exciting instead of quietly dragging by like the ones before. No long afternoons lying on the couch, no staring out of her bedroom window wondering what it would feel like to be somewhere else. For the first time, she’d be somewhere new. Somewhere unknown. And it felt both terrifying and thrilling.
She had been preparing for this summer camp for weeks—folding and refolding her clothes, checking her list three times, and still worrying she’d forgotten something important. All the while, her mind kept spinning with anxious thoughts: "What if no one talks to me? What if I say something stupid? What if I don’t fit in at all?" But she pushed those thoughts aside every chance she got.
Instead, she made a promise to herself: she would sign up for every activity she could, from magical dueling to flying lessons to herbology hikes. If she kept herself busy enough, maybe the fear wouldn’t have time to creep in. Maybe, just maybe, this summer would turn into something she’d remember forever.
Victoria was extremely excited for the summer camp—even though she tried not to show it. The train ride felt endless, with the rhythmic clatter of the wheels doing little to calm Victoria’s racing thoughts as she watched the landscape blur past the window. She might meet new people—maybe even make friends. She hoped she wouldn’t say something stupid or trip over her words.
When she got off the train and saw the enchanting city, she froze. It was breathtaking. Victoria bit the inside of her cheek to stop herself from smiling and gripped her bag tightly as she walked briskly toward the stadium. A gentle breeze played with her wavy brown hair, and the white ribbon she had tied a strand with had slightly slipped. She was way too excited. Maybe she’d even have people she knew in her tent?
Her heart was racing as she walked past countless tents. When she finally found hers, she took a deep breath. She felt like she was melting under the heat—she couldn’t wait to get out of the sun. Her stomach did little flips every few seconds. She told herself to calm down, but every time she thought of meeting new people, her hands twitched with anxious energy. Would they like her? Would they think she was weird?
When she stepped inside, she saw four people in total. She recognized two of them—Claire and Mikey. She met with Claire in the beginning of summer, she thought her accent and personality was so cute. With Mikey, she met over something about a muggle sport. Seeing familiar faces really eased her nerves. Maybe she wouldn’t feel so out of place after all. She gave them a small nod before placing her bag next to the bed in the farthest corner.
She’d seen the other two a couple of times before, but she couldn’t really say she knew them. Still, she remembered seeing the girl and Mikey together a few times and had to stop herself from grinning. She loved shipping people, and those two were definitely one of her favourite ships.
Victoria didn’t say a word. She just sat quietly and calmly, a bit distanced, observing the others.

Interacting with: @Mikey Forville, @Avery Gray, @Valentin DeAngelo, @Dylan Astor, @Joseph Sims, @Victoria Blythe“Callum! Are you ready yet? You don’t want to be late!” His father called from downstairs, trying to make his son hurry a bit quicker to try and beat the traffic into London. Their commute was going to be a long one, around 3 hours give or take. Callum checked once more to make sure he had everything he needed, enough clothes, snacks, his broom, and some other important things he thought he would need.
“Do you really need to bring your broom?” His mother questioned as he came downstairs.
“If there is a mock game, and they need a seeker. I’m their guy.” Callum chuckled.
They made their way out to the car, loading everything in before heading off towards London. Callum didn’t know whether to be excited or nervous. Callum is a quiet type of person, the one who follows instead of leads. He hadn’t made many friends his first year at Hogwarts, the occasional ‘hello’ or ‘hi’ walking by someone he recognized in the halls or in class. Even at quidditch practices he didn’t really talk to anyone. It's not that he is scared to make friends, but he isn’t the one to make the first moves when introducing himself to people.
After a long car ride, they finally reached London. Callum’s father parked a close distance away from the hidden entrance to the stadium. Callum hopped out and started unloading his things from the car.
“Have fun. And try to write, okay?” His mother hugged him.
“I will.” He said. His father ruffled his hair, and was sent on his way.
The walk to the stadium wasn’t that bad, luckily it wasn’t raining and wasn’t too hot either. There were other students up ahead of him, some struggling more than others. Other students had brought way more items, like they packed up their home and brought it with them. Callum knew he was getting close to the stadium when he recognized a landmark that was explained in the letter he got for camp, pointing him in the correct direction. He breathed a sigh of relief when he got to the entrance of the stadium, students were already hanging out and having fun. He made his way in and was stopped in his tracks at the amount of tents covering the pitch.
“This is going to be fun.” Callum muttered to himself, knowing that it was going to take forever to find his tent.
Callum walked along isles and isles of tents before finding the one assigned to him and his other tentmates. He could hear chatter from inside, some other students had already arrived. He made his way inside. His mouth immediately fell agape when he saw the sheer roominess of the inside of the tent. From the outside, it looked like it could only hold one, or maybe two people. There were beds, carpets, lights, tables, chairs, everything you thought couldn’t fit in a tent was there!
He looked around at his other tentmates, not recognizing a lot of them. Joseph he did recognize though, seeing him in the Hufflepuff common room from time to time. It was good to know that there was another hufflepuff in their tent. Callum found a bed under a window, perfect for his late night stargazing. He started to unpack his things, organizing his clothes neatly and putting away some of the snacks he brought. He unpacked his broom and propped it up next to his bed so he could be ready to use it when (if) the time came.
Callum sat on his bed silently listening to the other student’s conversations, learning a little bit about them. It seemed he wasn’t the only one who was shy to talk to others either, a girl at the other end of the makeshift bedroom was sitting quietly as well, listening to the others talk. He gave her a small smile and nod, not saying anything to her.

interaction: @Callum Alistar wc: 313 0 dialogue thoughtsVictoria noticed a boy with reddish-brown hair entering the tent and carefully observed him — she thought she had seen the boy a few times in the Great Hall — though she couldn’t really remember if they had ever spoken.
Calmly, she pulled her knees up to her chest and rubbed her eyes. She hadn’t been able to sleep at all from the excitement of the journey, but now she was slowly starting to feel sleepy. With a sigh, Victoria rested her cheek on her knees. She was watching her surroundings, but since most of the people were unfamiliar, she didn’t feel very comfortable.
A gentle breeze cooled the inside of the tent slightly, but it was still hot. Victoria tied her wavy hair up in a high ponytail to try and feel a bit more comfortable in the stifling heat. She tucked the strands of hair falling on her face behind her ear. She had already expected to sit quietly in the tent — she had no particular expectations.
What she didn’t expect, however, was for the boy who had just entered to look at her, smile, and nod. Victoria tilted her head slightly — the boy’s bed wasn’t too far from hers. Maybe she could talk to him and make a friend — or maybe he had just wanted to say hello — Victoria wasn’t sure whether she should start a conversation. So, she simply nodded back calmly in return.
Victoria then pulled out the chocolate she had brought in her bag — it was still cold — thank goodness for magic, otherwise the chocolate would probably have melted.
She broke the chocolate into two pieces and, after hesitating for a few seconds, held one piece out to the boy. Her blue eyes were still cautious, but she hoped the boy wouldn’t find her strange — and wouldn’t reject the offer.
Summer Days
As Callum finished putting away his things, the girl he had acknowledged when he arrived held out a piece of chocolate towards him. He hadn’t expected anyone to offer him anything, especially since he didn’t really know his tentmates.
He walked over and took the piece of chocolate from her hand. “Thanks,” he said softly, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. He took a bite of the chocolate, letting the sweetness melt on his tongue before speaking again.
“I’m Callum,” he added, rubbing the back of his neck out of habit. “Um… what’s your name?” He felt a bit awkward, not wanting to disturb her if she preferred to sit quietly. But since she had offered him chocolate, Callum assumed she might not mind a bit of conversation. He thought he had seen her before—maybe in class or in the halls—but her name eluded him.
The chocolate was a refreshing treat after traveling in the heat. The tent was warm, but a breeze from outside helped cool it off, something Callum was grateful for. He hoped to make some friends over the summer; making enemies with people he had to live with for a few weeks wouldn’t be fun. Maybe this girl would be his first friend.

interaction: @Callum Alistar wc:346 dialogue thoughtsVictoria felt a sense of relief when the boy accepted the chocolate with a smile. Okay—so she hadn’t made him uncomfortable. Besides, Victoria had to admit—he seemed really sweet when he smiled.
“...Don’t mention it,” she replied quietly when he thanked her, her voice calm and soft, but audible. She took a small bite from her own piece of chocolate—more out of something to do with her hands than genuine hunger—and let her eyes drift to the edge of the tent. She had expected the conversation to end there—but when the boy introduced himself, something shifted. Normally more guarded, her blue eyes shimmered ever so slightly with interest. Maybe… instead of just sitting in the tent quietly, she could actually make a friend.
“...Callum? What a unique name,” she said, not in a bad way—just honestly surprised. She had never heard a name like that before. Then, after a short pause, she added with a soft nod, “...I’m Victoria.”
Her voice still carried its usual quiet weight, but there was a new undercurrent in it now. Something gentler. Her expression remained fairly neutral, but her eyes—always the part of her that gave her away—held a glint of warmth. “Nice to meet you,” she said, and it actually sounded like she meant it. Because she did.
She took another bite of her chocolate, her gaze drifted to the broom lying beside Callum’s bed. It was clearly used—well taken care of, but not decorative. Functional. Familiar. And that told her something. Not many students carried their brooms around unless they really loved flying.
Her eyes returned to him, a faint spark of curiosity shining behind them.
“…Do you play Quidditch?” she asked, her voice still gentle but this time with a tinge of interest. Then she added, as if genuinely unsure, “Or is it for broom racing?”
She tilted her head slightly, genuinely intrigued. There wasn’t judgment in her tone—just honest wonder. Hoping she did not cross a line by asking something personal.

“Thanks,” he replied softly. Callum felt his cheeks warm a little when she commented that his name was unique. Most people didn’t usually mention it, he thought, feeling a small flutter in his chest. He gave her a shy smile.
“Nice to meet you as well, Victoria.” Victoria… that’s a pretty name, he thought as he brushed the crumbs of chocolate off his shirt. When she asked about his broom, his eyes flickered to where it was propped up against the bed. “Oh—yeah,” he said, a smile tugging at his lips. “I play Quidditch. I'm the second-string Seeker for Hufflepuff.” He rubbed the back of his neck, a nervous habit of his. “I’m hoping to move up to first string.” She’s easy to talk to… I hope she doesn’t mind my rambling.
He finished his piece of chocolate, making sure to swallow before he spoke again.“What about you?” he asked, tilting his head slightly. “Do you fly or watch the matches at all?” Maybe she does… she noticed my broom so quickly. Or maybe she just pays attention to small details. He looked away for a moment before returning his gaze to study her calm, quiet expression as he awaited her response.
