The extinguishing spell hit the flames in front of her, finally starting to reduce. The smoke started to clear away. Waving a hand in front of her face, she coughed a little as the final bit of smoke started to disperse. Within moments, her sight became clearer. The room became clearer. All of the fire seemed to have been removed, the fight seemed to have stopped, the door seemed to have been opened. Serena's eyes quickly scanned the room, there were a few people injured from what she could see. It was hard to see who they were, with everyone swarming around people and masks still on for some.

But she spotted a kid that looked like they had passed out with no one around. Rushing forward, Serena made her way over to the child [JAY], dropping down to her knees as she reached the figure, "Hey, you okay? Can you hear me?" She asked, shaking the person a little to try and get them to wake up. There were no obvious signs of injury. Serena could not tell if that was a good thing or not. She could not work out an obvious cause but something had happened to knock them unconscious. Wait, where they still alive? Were they breathing? She panicked for a moment, peering closely. Luckily, they looked like they were still breathing - just not awake or conscious. (Serena had no idea that Jay had just fallen asleep. In her eyes, they had been knocked unconscious by something).

If they did not stir awake from her shaking, Serena would have to try to drag them out of the room with whatever little strength she had. "Come on, we need to get you out of here..." She mumbled to herself, hoping the kid was okay. She could hear someone making some sort of announcement about courts or subjects [Galton], she paid little attention but she could hear his loud voice. She was pretty sure she also heard someone screaming flipendo - which meant that this fight was not over yet. She just hoped that she could get this person, whoever it was, out of here. Serena did not recognise them but that did not matter. They needed her help and help, she would give.

What in the world? Jay was suddenly awoken by force as someone dragged them across the floor, a few seconds ago they felt shaking but that was part of their dream wasn’t it? As Jay opened their eyes they yelled out at the girl,

Are ye mad?! Let go of me!

Jay managed to pull apart from the girl, they were having quite a good sleep in a long time and this student had decided to ruin it! So what if they were sleeping in a room of fire with a apparently insane student screaming about candy land and whatnot. Seriously? What kind of birthday is this? Just then jay transferred all of their attention to the candy land maniac. What the feck??? This kid is more hallucinative than Gray herself...

They looked back at her, Anyhow, who do you think you are? Deathmote?? I’m not some corpse!” They continued, Jay said this because back in September Jay had passed out and he came in and started going through their pockets, thinking that they were a corpse, and now there was this girl dragging them!

Bruises on their forehead, a headache staring, a scratch on their elbow, a person attempting to drag them... it kind of angered them...

Chris swings wildly at the giant before him, trying to inflict some serious damage to the dangerous intruder. Unfortunately, events repeat itself as he moves away from his strike, forcing him to lift up his weapon again for a second go. However, a sneaky student in front of the giant hit him in the unknown regions, disarming the big guy for now as he fell to the floor. Chris lets off another flurry of coughs and throws his wood to the floor, his eyes looking down to the giant as he thought about what to do next. Behind him, a loud yell could be heard "Chris!" said a familiar voice as she walked over to him. In front of him, a kid who got the final blow got flung into the wall by the giants final attack, leaving laying on the floor unmoving. From where he was standing he didn't notice that knife was sticking of his back, blood gushing out of the wound. He wanted to go help him, but another student had beat him to the gun and started to help him away. Chris swallowed hard and hoped for the boys safety, his head slowly turning around to face the source of the voice.

It was Illowy! she must of heard his shouts earlier, but didn't decide to leave. None the less, he was glad to see her safe "Jesus christ Illowy, i'm happy your safe..." said the boy in a relived tone as he turns his body away from the giant to face her. His face turned to a look of disappointment as he looked to the ground, ashamed for leaving her alone in this mess "And... I'm sorry for leaving you alone like that... it was a stupid of me..." He said in between coughs as his eyes look back at hers once more. Half of him knew he did the right thing as well, with the help of others he managed to distract the half giant from attacking anyone escaping, but that of course cost him a price. His mask was still on but harmed by the effects of the smoke, it was tainted and darker than before, as well as the other side of his face which wasn't protected by the half mask. The clothing on the other hand was quite messy and all over the place at this point, yet savable if he got out of this place unharmed "We've got to help the remaining students get out... but if you want to leave I dont blame you..."
Action: Faces away from the giant and talks to Illowy

Katrina decided to hang back. It was total chaos now. That was when it hit her. The fire. The chaos. The screaming. Nightmares.

Ever since her parents died in a fire last spring, a reoccurring nightmare had plagued her. Her heart doubled speed and her head pounded. Visions flew before her eyes. Katrina had to shake her head to keep them from overtaking her. Katrina had to refocus on the moment. Breath. In. Out. In. Out. Now was not the time to have a panic attack.

A small sigh of relief escaped her lips as the smoke cleared. Katrina slipped and fell, the giants were far too close to her. Katrina scrambled back looking up at the terrifying beasts. They were human, but their faces were hard and callous. She stood to her feet and scampered away, but not before she ran into a chair. Her head collided with it as she fell.

Katrina sat up and blinked the kaleidoscope of lights before her eyes. Shuddering breaths raked her body. She felt so stupid. All she had done so far was help Dymphna, and she didn't even do it right. What was she even doing here? The Gryffindor stood and brushed her auburn hair from her face oblivious to the bit of blood on it from her fall.

The giants were menacing. Katrina thought she had heard someone say to not use magic on giants. And throwing a spear the second-year knew was not an option. She righted herself and made her way to the giants.

"We need to find a way to get everyone out of here." the girl mumbled, aware that she needed to help someone else instead of do her own thing.

"What's the plan?" Katrina said loud enough for people to hear her, but not loud enough for the giants to over-hear.

Dan decided to look around a minute, and found that one of the giants were out cold. And upon looking closer, the one he was targeting was all tied up and gagged. That made things a LOT more simple.
He also saw that apparently, the students were hell bent on killing each other. Why they decided to that was anyone's guess. Despite now not knowing quite what to do himself, he didn't know why they were attacking EACH OTHER when one of the giants was out, and the other couldnt move or speak. Dan concluded that they were probably accidents, but Jorah had a knife in his back, many others were knocked out by flying shoes-

Flying shoes.
Dan smirked.
He picked up the shoe that had nailed him, and looked at the rather small, and slightly thinner than normal high heel on it. A heel that would.....
Yeeesssss. Yes this would do nicely.

The smirk turned more than a little malicious, as Dan made his way toward the giant on the floor. The one that was niiiice and unable to move or speak. While he moved, he tore the small bit of gripping rubber off the heel with his teeth. He wouldn't be needing that. As he got closer, Dan saw that he was struggling to move, a sight that pleased him immensely. Exactly what he deserved for ruining his night. That, and ruining the nights of so many other people, but Dan focused nearly entirely on him and Ozzy. He also focused on Jorah, who had almost been kidnapped, and who now had a knife in his back, and now unable to fight back. So, if the giant DID get free...

Ah, it wouldn't matter. Not after Dan got through, at least.

When he arrived at the struggling giant, he didn't banter, he didn't softly caress his cheek like a normal maniac would. No, he was well past being creepy and maniacal. He didn't want intimidation, or cool points. He wanted the giant to be in pain. Horrible, agonizing pain. And with the utter lack of sharp implements around, his ways of doing that were limited.
He knew of the knife if Jorah's back, but he knew better than to pull something OUT of a wound. If he did that before he got treatment, Jorah would bleed to death.

So instead, drawing back to get maximum force, Dan brought the shoe down, in order to drive the high heel into the half-giant's right eye. Deep enough to cause blindness, blood gushes, and indescribable pain.
Actions: Stab the tied up giant in the right eye with a high heel's high heel.

Serena stood there in pure horror as the scene unfolded before her. She had no idea how to react to any of it, everything was just going to fast for her. She saw people running, the fire, the giants, her heart was beating way to fast for her. She started slowly hyperventilating, she was breathing too fast for her lungs to fill back enough to give her the breath she wanted. She started feeling dizzy, then it happened, a bright flash erupted in front of her eyes.

She couldn't see anything, which made her panic even more. "Oh my God...is this me dying?! Did something happen to me...am I seeing the light?!?!" She thought in shear panic, causing her to start panicking even more. Her body couldn't take it anymore, she just fell down, her head hitting the ground, not hard enough to make her bleed, but definitely enough to give her a lump and a headache for when she wakes back up.

Despite of how much of a panic mess she was before she passed out, she had quite a pleasant dream. (Going into dream phase). Serena stood in the middle of a forest somewhere, wearing the same dress that she wore to the ball. She heard someone yell her name behind her, making her spin around, revealing a sort of tent thing with people dancing under it to lovely music. She slowly walked over to another girl who was wearing a mask, just like the ones at the masquerade ball. The girl asked her for a dance, which Serena of course didn't resist. They started to dance together to a song that sounded like mostly just violins, and they would be dancing for a long time.

Open for interactions. (No seriously, someone drag her out of there.)

I was wearing a dress that looked inspired by butterflies and so was the mask. At that time however the long dragging dress was caught on fire and I didn't see the crowd of people leaving, I only saw the chaos and saw a girl passed out on the ground. For all that my strength is worth I pick her up and join the chaos trying to run as my dress burns further and people scream as others are fighting. At this moment I realise that my dress is on fire, but I keep running as I need to get her out of this room. To me however, it looks like never ending death and fire.

I run to the exit where I see a train of people exiting. I think to myself "I'll never get out" and remember an article in the school newspaper about something similar happening before this. I suddenly find an opening to escape. I look around before leaving and suddenly something that was thrown hits my left eye. Blood pours out of it and I can't seem to see from it. I mutter "hope magic can fix that" and then run out, with the sharp substance still in my eye

"Yeah, I'm leaving," is all Karilyna bothered to toss over her shoulder before following her best friend out of the ballroom. Astrid tried to rush the giant with a piece of wood before sheepishly following the pair, which arguably wasn't the best idea. She did have to hand it to her other friend though, as the four-or-so spells they had learned in the first month at Ilvermorny weren't exactly the best spells to use for fighting half-giants.

Clutching her wand even tighter, Karilyna glanced back just in time to see a few things happen simultaneously. One that she would've laughed at under different circumstances, but two that would haunt her memory forever. Astrid hopped over and took a small piece of wood--Karilyna didn't know why, whether it was for a souvenir or just on a whim--then ran back over to rejoin Karilyna and Phyllis.

The other two actions she saw were what really made the young girl stop in her tracks. The first, a pocketknife flew throw the air, sharply whistling. Karilyna was unsure where it came from and was relieved as it seemed to aim towards the floor. But no. A boy around her age was in its path. As it stabbed deep into the back of the poor boy, the Thunderbird forced herself to look away, her legs shaking. Which abysmally stupid person in the name of Merlin throws pocketknives? Karilyna almost raced to the boy's rescue out of her rather selfless but reckless nature but was stopped by what she saw next.

A rather rotund boy [Galton] stomped into the ballroom, causing yet another ruckus. Lunging at people, he tried to lick a few people to the disgust of what was surely more than just Karilyna. Realizing that trying to help the fallen boy was suicide due to the new presence of this crazed boy, Karilyna turned tail and fled. Now, she was no coward, normally, but it was just too much for her. She had seen too much death in her life and didn't want to see people undeserving of death die. On the other hand, though, if the boy died, she would never, ever forgive herself. Seeing a few older, capable-looking students rushing to his aid, Karilyna ducked out of the room, one final time. This time, she wouldn't return.

Dale decided it was time to leave, he helped out... sorta, and now he had to leave. Now the question was to where would he leave, the answer was to where ever Lark went. The last time he had seen her was when she had been hit in the head and knocked out by some shoe, he couldn't help because he was dancing like an idiot due to his spell backfiring, rage boiled inside of Dale, at no one but himself, he knew he was terrible at magic, so why did he even attempt to cast a spell, he should've just... done anything else...

Dale dropped his makeshift "spear", the giant he was fighting was knocked out, and it looked like the students already had that under control. the newest threat was a very round boy, he proclaimed himself king of this... candy kingdom? Did this guy really think this was some sort of... whatever didn't matter, the boy didn't seem to be too much of an issue, he was just trying... lick people, disgusting for sure, but not very threatening. Besides he had to leave the ball as fast as he could, he needed to find Lark and make sure she was safe, he took off towards the door, after he was out he headed straight towards the medical wing.

Interactions: @Heather Ruby, Open for more

Free of the Ballroom, stumbling out the doorway, Andrew could at least breathe a sigh of relief that he and Heather were no longer trapped inside with the fire and the half-giants. They were safer in the Hallways…so he thought.

But all that was quickly erased from his mind when he glanced over his shoulder, his complexion paling beneath the mask at what he witnessed of the aftermath. The fire had been put out, the smoke vanished…Leaving behind a crimson-stained battlefield…Actually, it was still a battlefield, what with the hoard of students trying to tackle, subdue, and/or maim the half-giants. Andrew cringed, a sickening feeling in his stomach overtaking him as he swept his gaze over the puddles, smears, and footprints of blood, tracing a path in the direction of the staircases - to the Hospital Wing, hopefully - as well as his own red footprints and Heather's too, as the pair of them headed down the hallway, raising the alarm for the magical portraits to alert the House-elves to aid those that were still inside the Ballroom.

The House Elves are gone, the portraits said.

Andrew's eyes widened in disbelief.

"Gone? What do you mean they're gone?!" He raised his voice at the portraits, confusion spiked with fear and annoyance.

It was pointless to try and interrogate them. He couldn't really blame the portraits though; they had their own limitations as well. But it was frustrating for him and Heather to reach a dead-end, somewhat, in their attempt to find help. The portraits weren't as helpful in helping them find help as Andrew and Heather thought they'd be.

What do we do now?

Andrew removed his mask, having forgotten it was on his face in the first place, but as the initial shock of the Ballroom scene wore off, he started coming to grips with his bearings, struggling with his own fight-or-flight instinct. People were still in danger inside the Ballroom. He and Heather were safe…for now, at least. Should he really jeopardize that safety by going back to the Ballroom?

"Okay…" Andrew regained control of his hyperventilated breaths, though his heart was still pounding with adrenaline. He turned to Heather. "I'm gonna check on the Ballroom, check what's going on. You've still got your cane, right? I can help you find someone to take you back to the Ravenclaw Tower, if you need."

The Hospital Wing was bound to be jam-packed and honestly, Andrew didn't feel at all safe or comfortable retreating back to his Common Room right now. If there were kidnapping half-giants that managed to infiltrate the Ballroom, who was to say there weren't more intruders prowling about the Castle?

Whether or not Heather accepted his offer or wanted to head elsewhere or come with, Andrew would retrace his path to the Ballroom, peering his head around the corner of entryway to scan the scene of what he'd be walking into, before stepping over the broken doorframe. It seemed like a wild pack of students had the half-giant situation under control. Those who were fallen, the ones with the most critical injuries, appeared to have other Good Samaritans already tending to them. Andrew would carefully skirt around the half-giant issue (if he could help it - wait, was that @Dan Palmer wielding a high heel??), looking for anyone that might need his help, while keeping an eye peeled for any professors that would give him direction or help him make better sense of the situation.

Action: Andrew returns to the Ballroom to help out with the wounded, etc., unless directed otherwise

If anyone would like Andrew's assistance/interaction, feel free to give a shoutout to him. On a side note, Heather Ruby's glasses and Catwoman mask are still missing, so if anyone happens to stumble upon the glasses/mask lying around the floor of the Ballroom or find the mask snagged on their costume, feel free to leave a tag about those as well.
