Scribbled Schemes
@Evelynn Decipio @Winnie Harper @Mathias PrideEve,
I thought I'd leave this on your desk since I'm cramming for classes and don't have the time to go looking for you.
Did you get the invitation to Winnie's wedding?
It's terrible, isn't it?
Not just the pink.
Winnie @Winnie Harper doesn't want to be helped. I've tried. I think you may have too. But this isn't just about her anymore. The Hollow Order? Let this be a vow that cannot be broken? The past is never truly buried? And why mention that thing about the mirrors? Or the seventh arch? As if no one knows the importance of the number seven...
I don't suppose I have to tell you any of this, but there are some things that you should know.
Do not trust whatever they will be serving there, not the food and not the drinks, no matter how delicious it may seem. I have been with been around Gideon and I know for a fact he always checks his food and drink. I never really understood why, but Pride made a very similar point to me once. It's a long story. Whatever you do, I know you don't really have a choice about going or not, DO NOT TRUST THE FOOD.
I don't think I'll be going. I don't want to give Pride any more reason to gloat, and it's probably dangerous besides.
Write me back as soon as you are able, or use a paper plane if you must, but use invisible ink if you do.
- Finn
P.S.
I might go if you can turn me into a ferret again so I can look around, or is that a bad idea? I could ask Professor Kane how long such a change might last for. Because I hope it's not permanent.

Before the day's end, Finnegan would find a folded note delivered to him in the grasp of a familiar white-plumed barn owl. Clicking his beak, Janus had swiveled his head inquisitively as though looking for something with the exchange. If the boy happened to have anchovies on his person and just happened to know that was what the owl sought or if he alternatively pampered the owl in another fashion, he would be spared. If not, Janus' plummage would fluff up with agitation, the beak chattering growing indignant, before finally flying off after nipping at the boy. Inside, the letter would read as follows:
Of course I got the invitation--I am the maid of honour. Aly, Dee and I have known about it for some time now. It really is not so terrible, is it? Winnie seemed very pleased with how it turned out. The graphics are quite lovely, if perhaps a bit...well, pink.
But I do not entirely disagree about what you reference. I have my concerns as well, yes. We all do. And yes, we have tried talking her out of this. Unfortunately, there is nothing to be done about it. She is free to make her own decisions. Before you argue that, yes, I truly believe she is making this decision willingly. I do not know to what extent she is aware of everything going on behind the curtains--I doubt any of us can fully visualize the tapestry that the Athanatos name spins--but I do not believe she is blindly entering into this. Not entirely. Or perhaps it is merely wishful thinking.
Regardless of whether you choose to attend or not, though, I would advise against trying to further talk her out of it. You will risk having her cut you off, and limiting your means of access to help when she is ready to accept it. That said, I appreciate your concerns and the warning about the food. I should like to think that a family as prestigious as the Athanatos' would not risk serving magically tampered foods to members of wizarding Society. The mention of mirrors, though, that I am curious about. They are a scrying tool, and it is said things can be trapped within a mirror, but their implication in association with Sanctum Noctis is strange to say the least. It also only suggested that they will not be present, not that guests may not bring them. So perhaps it is merely a reminder that for anyone who might need to touch up makeup, they are required to bring their own. I have yet to find conclusive information about the Hollow Order, however. And despite the warning about the seventh arch, I have to question whether they would really risk allowing members of the public near to a Veil, though I will not deny that I am curious about the significance.
Furthermore, I am not so sure about turning you into a ferret, despite how useful that could prove. It is not a permanent spell, no, but I promised Winnie to help dissuade shenanigans, not perpetuate them. Of course, if you should attend and happen to be well provisioned with items to assist you in gleaning additional information while allowing me to remain at Winnie's side...
Perhaps we can come to some arrangements.
