A smile formed on Kaitlyn’s lips as she sat on a stool in the deserted Potions Classroom. She had her cauldron already set up and filled with water. Her potions textbook lay open on the table at the station where she was sitting. Despite it being the beginning of her third year, she figured it wouldn’t hurt to practice potions she already knew. While she was well aware that they weren’t used in the magical society, she had used Post-it notes in her Potions textbook to keep track of the various potions learned thus far.
As expected, there were many notes littered in the book. Soon enough, it would be counterproductive to use them. Hence, she also had her textbook-quality notes with her, as well. She took the time to write out the ingredients and brewing instructions for each known potion, thus far. Plus a description of the potion’s use and whatever extra needed information she thought was necessary, with diagrams! She loved drawing little pictures in her notes. Not all of them were strange doodles, at least.
Her current use was not for learning a new potion. After all, there would be plenty of time to learn new potions … and undoubtedly, there would be many potions to learn this year! No, no, she wanted to use her time wisely. For review purposes. In this case, that would be for The Sleeping Draught. Thankfully, she hadn’t needed that potion yet. But, it was always beneficial to have one prepared just in case … or for one of her friends, especially for when exam season hit! By that point, she would wish she had extra vials lying around.
With a quiet giggle, Kaitlyn’s blue eyes studied the ingredient list. 4 sprigs of Lavender, 6 measures of Standard Ingredient, 2 … ‘blobs’ of Flobberworm Mucus (she loved this particular ingredient), 4 Valerian Sprigs, and 1 head of Gillyweed. After quickly washing her hands, Kaitlyn skipped to collect the necessary ingredients for the potion. The skirt of her Slytherin uniform swayed at her knees at the same rhythm as her pigtail braids swaying in the air. She’d just gather the ingredients for now and then measure them at her station.
