Interests and Double Entendres

Age: 16 Date: Valentines' Celebration Mentioning/Interacting: @Maximilien de Fostoncy Location: BeauxbatonsInterests and Double Entendresxxxxx Gellert had felt the budding feeling of warmth within his chest and the enchanting desire of looking at the french boy. His body had started to feel tingly as he leaned and walked near Maxi. He knew the other most likely did not know what he was feeling, but the crush was growing stronger and stronger every time he had seen Maxi. The first time at summer camp, then again and again, and now again at Valentines, where he had seen him but had not spoken to him yet. Gellert had sent an owl asking if Maxi had wanted to meet up to practice French and German respectively, but he would genuinely want to meet with Maxi even if they were not practicing their own mother tongue. There was a smile on Gellert lips as he wondered what it would be like to kiss his crush. The dark hair flowing in the wind, perhaps as Maxi whispered french words, the world around him disappearing. He felt warm on the inside as his fantasies made the world around him disappear. He was sitting in the courtyard with all the lovely Valentines’ themed decorations and they contributed to his fantasies and his romantic mood. Gellert had hoped to fall in love together with Valentin, and they probably had, but it was the wrong time. Perhaps this was another chance at a true first love.
Gellert was wearing a beautiful black turtleneck that accentuated his strong athletic figure born from broom racing, an earring on one ear, a gift from his friend and mentor, Tristan. He had continued his passion for healing and had begun to hope to go into a career of healing once he graduated from Durmstrang. In his hand, he had a blue rose in his hand, behind his back. He had learned from a friend that blue meant that one was not afraid of being themselves. Gellert wanted to encourage Maxi with the rose and explain that he believed that his friend could live a life that was not the one expected from his family and be himself fully. That he did not have to be Maximillien de Fostoncy, he could be Maxi, or Max, or anything that he believed in. The beautiful sun shone golden through the landscape, the evening breeze perfect for the occasion. In some ways it felt like a calm before the storm, but in other ways, it felt like peace and an answer to his questions. Gellert smiled and waited with a smile on his face and an ever present warmth in his chest that he would feel anytime he thought about the other young man.

Maxi padded down the corridors, humming a tune to himself as he walked past the Valentine’s decorations. He liked it when Beauxbatons took on a festive air, the colours brightening the hallways and bringing smiles to everyone’s face. Maxi supposed he had that smile on him as well at the moment, even if he hadn’t really worn it intentionally, and he wondered if that was what holidays meant. Oh, and of course, friends.
Language learning sessions were appealing, just like what they discussed during summer camp, and he didn’t hesitate to say yes when Gellert put it forward. As a (self-acclaimed) writer, Maxi loved to mess around with words. He had already picked up bits of Spanish during his school years, courtesy of his Spanish classmates, and just think, after learning German, he’d have more words to rhyme in his next poem. And maybe he could create a heroine who’s trilingual… Besides, it was Gellert. Being around his German friend was easy, and yes, Maxi knew that he longed to get to know him even better.
He soon spotted that symbolic platinum hair when he entered the gardens. Maxi waved at the figure as he approached, hoping to catch Gellert’s attention. “Herr Mr. Schroeder!” He chuckled, tone delighted, showing off the bit of German he’d learnt from a fellow Beauxbatons student with German roots. “Salut.Hi.” Switching back to his mother tongue, he nodded approvingly at his friend’s attire—anyone who wore turtlenecks surely had extremely good taste in clothes. “Am I late?”
He asked casually in English with his usual laid-back manner, tucking his hands into his pockets, smiling at his friend. “I do hope you are enjoying your stay here.” Maxi continued. “How’s the cabin?” He had opted to stay in his own dormitory for the duration, and while Maxi loved his bunk very much, he was indeed curious about the hospitality of his own school.
Maxi looked around, taking in the view of the school he had been studying at for nearly six full years. Remembering that he had promised himself that he would guide Gellert on a tour before he got back to Durmstrang, Maxi considered it for a few seconds and soon decided that this was the perfect opportunity. “I may show you around when we expand our vocabulary.” He offered. “In case it gets tedious.” Maxi drawled, wilfully thickening a French accent, though he usually managed it less detectable when speaking English. He raised an eyebrow at his friend, awaiting his response.

The language study session tour would have been fun. It really would, if it hadn’t dawned on him.
“I — I’m sorry.” He gasped. “I didn’t know…I thought…I’m really sorry, but I can’t…” He shifted his eyes to the fish pond, watching the bubbles at the surface, as if it would help ease his anxiety. It wouldn’t.
“…can’t reciprocate. I’m straight.” His cheeks flushed, and words slipped off his tongue like they burned. They said that it was easier to express your embarrassing feelings in a foreign language than in your mother tongue, and they were right. English felt much better than French.
He couldn’t recollect even the slightest thing about Gellert’s reaction, what he said, what he did, or what his expression was like. Everything that occurred to him was a blur.
“If…if you will excuse me.” He heard himself saying, or rather mumbling, and he fled. At first he tried to make his receding figure look indifferent by maintaining an even pace, but soon he unconsciously hastened his steps, and finally he started to run.
Had he been sending out wrong signals all this time? Why hadn’t he detected it? Was he a simpleton? And usually he remained perfectly calm when he refused a person who happened not to align with his orientation. But obviously not today. What was going on with him?
He only had a halt when he came across a large heart-shaped Valentine’s decoration near the fountain. He stared at it. The bright pink colour glared back at him.
I should have known better…
