Merrily Adorned Ornaments
@Piérre Marchonné
Errands. They were usually a way to socialise or meet new people, but as Koko's friend Ruby had set one up, Koko felt obliged to do it. The girl wore a festive outfit for the occasion - a red sweater, a blue denim skirt, black leggings, and her usual boots. Her hair was tied back from her face with a green scrunchie that had been gifted to her by her social-media-obsessed adoptive brother. These were clothes that she was not worried about spilling crafting supplies on, nor was she worried about tearing them on scissors. They were replaceable.
There was a boy. Not one who she liked romantically - ew, all boys were gross and probably had cooties - but one who she was intrigued by. He was different from all of the first - and even second - year children that she had met. Someone who wasn't as selfish as the rest of them. Someone who cared about other people. A child who seemed to be an optimist. Another thing that made him stand out was that Koko remembered his name - Piérre Marchonné. He was important enough; he stood out from the ocean of normal children. He was unique.
And so Koko had owled him to see if he would meet up with her to do Ruby's errand with her. That would be good enough bonding, wouldn't it? A way to get to know each other. Crafting was also a way to unleash creativity, and making ornaments would be lovely. Perhaps Koko would mail one to Victor and Holmes once she finished. A giddy smile spread across the girl's lips as she sat down at a table and folded her hands. If Piérre showed up, she would be incredibly glad.
The Great Hall was as beautiful as it usually was; candles floating above her right before the ceiling would appear to drop away. It gave Koko a sense of being close to the stars and the sky once more. That was the reason that she enjoyed flying. It made her feel close to the sun, close to the stars and the moon. As if maybe, just maybe, if she flew a little further, she could touch them. It was a childish fantasy, but it was her fantasy, and probably one she would not tell others about.
Koko gazed at one table, where supplies were set up. She would wait to grab the supplies until Piérre arrived - if he did. She wasn't sure about him, but she was also fairly sure that he would be interested in this. Gryffindors liked trying new things, right? Trying new things was something that Koko believed should have been loved by everyone, but not many people enjoyed it. Piérre still seemed like the type of person who would be excited to try new things - or if he had done something similar before, it seemed like he would be interested in doing so once more.

@Koko Riddle
”Adorniamo le sale con rami di agrifoglio!
Fa la la la la!
È la stagione per essere gioiosi!
Fa la la la la, la la la la!
Indossiamo i nostri abiti festosi!
Fa la la la la!
Per innalzare nella festa del Solstizio i vecchi canti!
Fa la la la la, la la la la!”
Piérre was sliding down the bannisters of all the stairways he could find in order to get down to the Great Hall as quickly as possible while singing ‘Deck the Halls’ in a loud, childish Italian tune. Only a half hour before, he had received an owl, Dubuque, from Koko, about an errand that was begin set up by another Prefect for some Sickles.
Piérre had been all over it from the start, and had been in such a rush to meet her in the Great Hall that he had forgotten to send a reply that he would be there. After all, Piérre needed to scrape together as much money as he could, if the fact that he was snapping at every opportunity to get some pocket change was any indication. Christmas was coming soon, and he would have to be ducking out for Winter Break to reunite with Romeo, say hi to Mathilda, and generally sow chaos in his own home. When he had first gotten the letter from Koko, truth be told, Piérre thought it was going to be something about another detention, especially with the little polish incident in his last detention, but when he had read about making ornaments, his giddy side had been called to action and he was prepped and ready to get to work.

So quick was he to get to the Great Hall quickly, he had forgotten the charade he had first set up for Koko in making her think he was a Slytherin, that he pulled on the first uniform he could find, which was, by circumstance, a red and black harlequinned sweater with gold details and a pair of black trousers. He half thought about perhaps snagging a hat or gloves to complete the look, but in the end, decided it was good enough and began to leave.
However just before he had left the common room, his eyes lit in more ways that one.
It was the most magnificent string of Christmas lights he had ever seen, and there was a tree nearby with bows...
Need I say what happened next?
Leaping from the bannister, Piérre nearly smacked more than one individual in the face with his new necktie of a five yard long string Christmas lights, readjusting the gold and silver bows on either side of his head like they were space buns. They twisted into his messy hair easily and with a gay trill, Piérre skidded on the ground, sliding in the view of the Great Hall and flourishing his arms proudly.
”Senza curarci del vento e del tempo!
Fa la la la la, la la la laaaaaaaaa!”
He held the pose for about a second. There was a silence that fell over the room, before a few slow claps echoed, followed quickly by resounding laughter, which only made the boy smile wider. After the initial thunder had died down, Piérre bowed grandly, swinging the end of the Christmas lights like a lasso at his side and glancing across the room for Koko.
He found her sitting at a table nearby, reacting accordingly to his little show, and with a small laugh, he trotted over to her, looking around for supplies to use in crafting. It was a little funny, Piérre thought, of how she wanted to meet with him again. He thought he had caused her far too much trouble that she would want to see him again, let alone talk to him, but here he was, and he thought that he should make the best of it.
”Hi Koko!” He waved, sitting across from her. ”Fancy seeing you here. You excited for Christmas?” Piérre’s feet were kicking at the floor, dangling only inches above the ground, his own personal nervous habit at seeing the Prefect again. Besides, he didn’t know how the girl was going to react to his splendid and quite honestly, a little more than goofy, entrance. That didn’t stop him from still murmuring something that he planned on doing when he had the chance. ”I know I can’t wait to get outside and build a snowman a little later...”

A voice pierced through the air as Koko watched the table she sat at with great intensity. It was a tune she recognised, but she did not recognise all of the words. As the boy - was he her friend? She didn't know - sang the last line, she joined in with a quiet hum. "Fa la la la la... La la la la..." A small smile was on the shy Slytherin's lips, and a breathy chuckle escaped her lungs after she whispered the last 'la'. She tapped her fingers on the slick wood of the table, the tune now stuck in her head. This was new for Koko; the sense that she could just relax. Because let's face it, Koko didn't really think that making ornaments could be dangerous. Wizards wouldn't use hot glue, right? So unless some idiot used incendio, no one would be burned. Yes, scissors could be used as weapons, but she felt safer here. Maybe because she could protect herself, or maybe because Ruby had set up the errand, or maybe even because Piérre was here. She didn't know.
Piérre was now in sight, and Koko had to choke back a laugh at his appearance. The blonde-haired Slytherin probably looked goofy at best, and like she was about to throw up at worst. Holding back laughter was surprisingly difficult. Koko began clapping, albeit slowly, trying to maintain control of her breathy giggles. She whistled. "Whoooooo!" Koko cheered him on, just a little, before she realised that he was probably breaking the rules. Probably. She didn't know where he had gotten the Christmas lights - and she would give him the benefit of the doubt.
Piérre soon began to walk over to Koko, and she tore her eyes away from him and down to the table, still chuckling lightly. The clapping had begun to die off. The Slytherin wondered for a moment why she even found him funny, but she soon decided that it was because she knew he wasn't joking around in poor spirit. A lot of people joked in poor spirit instead of trying to make others laugh, so that was why this was different. Laughter really was the best medicine.
"Hello," Koko chirped as the Gryffindor sat down across from her. "Nice to see you, too! I'm... I dunno." She shrugged, looking up. "Christmas has never been my favourite time of year, but hey - at least this year it will be warm!" She recalled the beauty of London for a moment and then compared it to Los Angeles. Both places were beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. However, her house in Los Angeles was near the ocean. The ocean was a lovely smell... "O-oh, yeah! Building a snowman would be good in this weather! It reminds me of this Muggle movie my dad likes - Frozen. There's a snowman in it; he's really cute." Koko may have thought herself to be a pure-blood, but there was no way she would just stop watching Muggle movies with Victor. "Have you seen it?"
The first easy observation that one would be able to make was that Koko, someone who was extremely shy, was being pretty talkative. She was also grinning instead of chewing on her lower lip. "What type of ornament would you like to make?" Koko asked, her voice still light and chirpy like a bird's. "If you want me to, I'll grab the supplies!" She began tapping her green-painted nails on the table, only somewhat anxiously. It wasn't anxiety. No, she was just energetic. One would also be able to notice the girl bouncing up and down in her seat, her foot tapping the floor, almost to the beat of a song. "Thanks for coming!"

Merrily Adorned Ornaments
It seemed that Christmas cheer was contagious, for Piérre saw Koko barely mouthing the words that he was singing as well. He was happy to see someone in a good mood like he was. When she mentioned the Muggle movie Frozen, he smiled brightly, causing his eyes to twinkle. The Christmas lights he wore were being twisted about his fingers, and he quickly ended up knotting it around his wrists on accident, briefly tying his hands up before managing to untie it and respond to Koko’s inquiry.@Koko Riddle, sorry for the SUPER late reply, I didn’t even know that you had posted. Whoops!
”Yeah! I remember Frozen!” Piérre nodded excitedly. ”Romeo loved that movie. Olaf was so cute!” He clapped excitedly, rocking back and forth. ”Did you hear that there’s a second movie? I hear it’s pretty good for a sequel!”
Piérre was a little more than surprised to see Koko being as open as she was being it’s him at this moment. He had, in their previous two encounters, made of her as the quiet, studious type, not the type to interact with someone as unpredictable as Piérre, and especially considering that the way they had met was because of trouble Piérre had caused. Up to this point, all that the boy had seen of her was her constant shiftiness, as if she were worried that he would pounce like the Slytherin house’s crest or like his own lion. Now she seemed... real. Approachable even.
Piérre wasn’t going to take it for granted though. This social event was more than a chance as Sickles. Koko had obviously invited him for a reason, and he wasn’t about to let her down, not when she was the first person to request a second meeting with him.
”What kind of ornament?” Piérre asked, wringing his hands. ”Well... I mean, paper could be used... but it falls apart too easily... Seashells could be cool. I used to find them a lot near one of our beach homes in Naples, and with a little string and a well punched hole, they make really pretty ornaments and reflect lights really nicely. Do you have any ideas yourself?” He smiled a little more when Koko said she was glad that he came.
”Aw, it was nothing! I love crafts, even though I’m not all that artistic, so I should be thanking you really. I’m glad that you’re just as excited as I am!” Piérre glanced around the room at the other houses mingling, friend groups chatting it up and laughing as they made ornaments. Piérre couldn’t help but look at them longingly. Was this what having a friend felt like? The only time he had gotten close to having a buddy had been in Romeo, and he had abandoned him at the beginning of the year. Perhaps it had been better for his younger twin. Things had seemed to be nothing but dangerous here ever since he had settled in. ”Do you have any plans for break? Going anywhere festive?” Piérre knew that he wasn’t going anywhere, and he was heading back to Mathilda’s cottage on the outskirts of London, but he thought it could be interesting to see if she had anything going on.
”I mean, if you don’t want to share, that’s fine too, but I’m gonna leave over the break. Are you a native Londian?”
