A Letter for Hogwarts PV Victoria

She came to with the letter that fell on her lap before the owl that came to the great hall landed on her head. She had experienced a shock when the owl landed on her head. She gave the owl some water. She had never seen the owl before. When she read the letter, she carefully let the owl land on her shoulder and left the Great Hall.

She entered an empty classroom and placed the owl on the table and Victoria began to write the letter.

Dear Koldovstoretz student;

I got your letter. It was a very strange way of sending, but the owl is very cute. I had heard that there were other schools, but I don't know much about it. Yes, there is a hat that chooses our house at our school. After each first-year student gets off the train, there is a selection ceremony in the big hall. The Sorting Hat is placed on the heads of the first-year students in order, and the hat chooses one of the four houses. I am currently finishing my second year.

How is your school doing? Or are there buildings in your school? Can you give some information? By the way, my name is Victoria. What's your name? It would be good to get some information in your next letter.

Wow! You have three names just like I do! My name is Kazimir Valun-Plemya, but friends just call me Kazi. I attend Koldovstoretz Conservatory in Russia. There is no crazy hat that chooses a house for us. Well, we don't have houses here. I mean, we have houses to live in, but our school is divided into groups depending on what type of magic you will specialize in. I will be in group seven I believe. We will focus on nature related magics, so we will learn to grow magical plants and how to take care of magical creatures. What house did the crazy hat pick for you?

My school is doing very well! Koldovstoretz has not been around for nearly as long as the other schools of magic. Only one hundred years or so I believe. We don't have many buildings right now. Mostly we live and learn in yurts. Big, sturdy, fancy tents if you've not seen one before. However, there is a whole underground section where a lot of the schooling takes place too! What's it like to go to school in a castle?

Let's see. Information on me? I am part-giant! I love to be outdoors amongst nature! I love to fly brooms! Oh! Did you know that here we mostly enchant trees to fly? Like whole trees to fly like a broom! Can you tell me things about yourself?

Wow your school looks really nice. Are you grouped according to your abilities? That sounds really nice. I think if I was in Koldovstoretz I'd probably be in group seven. My dad is a botanist (he studies Muggle plants) so we have a huge greenhouse at home and I love plants just like my dad. Crazy Hat sorted me into Ravenclaw. Is Russia too cold?

Because the school is so big, I can get lost on my way to classes. Sometimes we can be late because the stairs are moved. I was very late when I couldn't get used to it in my first year. How does it feel to study underground like a mole?

Are you half giant? A friend of mine was half giant too. Maybe one day you can show me the magic of how to make trees fly.

Something about me... I am also a metamorphmagus. That is, I can change my appearance as I wish. Okay, I can't change my height or create animal parts on my body right now, but I will be able to do these things when I grow up. Other than that, I love drawing flower pictures and collecting flower petals.

I wonder if we can meet during the summer vacation.

Yes! We are grouped based off of our natural abilities. We take courses on all types of magic, but your focus is based off your ability. Some come to school and have very little control over their magic, so they are group one. Then you move up from there until you hit the higher level groupings.

It is great to meet another plant lover! Herbology has been my favorite course alongside Care of Magical Creatures. I would love to have a greenhouse in our village one day. Perhaps I will ask mother if we could build one. My giant family does tend to break things though, but worth a try! Maybe one day I could even see yours and get a lesson from your father!

Russia is very cold sometimes, but I don’t mind it so much. Makes for great skiing and snowball fights! I do miss my plants though, but if I can set up a greenhouse I could have them all year! What in the world is a Ravenclaw anyway? At Hogwarts, is it ability based too? I’ve seen a picture of the castle and it does seem crazy big. I missed the chance to go there in my first year, but hopefully we will be invited back next year. Why would the stairs move? Studying underground is weird at first. It was originally done because they needed to hide from the muggles, but you get used to it.

I am half giant! My father is a wizard and my mother is a giantess. We are from a tribe that resides in the Ural Mountains. That’s great that you already have a half giant friend. I wonder if I’ve heard of their tribe before? Have they told you about it?

A metamorphmagus! That is so special! I’ve only read about such a talent in books before, but I would love to see your abilities! And you’re an artist? I’m going to save up some galleons so I can buy one of your pieces before you get famous!

I really would love to meet you! I will be attending the international summer camp in London. Will you be going too?

Your school looks really cool. I really like Herbology too. As for taking lessons from my father, he would happily accept it.

The selection of buildings is based on the characteristics we have the most in common. One of the most common characteristics of our building is intelligence, wisdom and creativity. The houses have their own common rooms and dormitories. When I enter the common room, I always feel like I'm in a mystical magical place under the stars. I think ours has the best view.

I don't know how to ski, maybe you can show me one day. But I participated in a snowball fight at school. It was a very fun time. I don't know why the stairs are moving, the people who built this place really like to make things difficult for the students.

No, she didn't mention it. Do you live in a tribe like the Indians? That's really cool. What's the name of your tribe? Is it only inhabited by half-giants like you, or are there also pure-blooded giants, even if they don't marry wizards?

Oh I would love to have a lesson from a botanist! I know many non magical plants, but we only really study the magical ones at school. Perhaps I can find a muggle text book when we go to London so that I can study!

I bet you are all three of those characteristics! When I read about Hogwarts I read of the houses that live in the castle towers. I can’t imagine what it must be like to live among the stars. We don’t have any tall buildings here, but my family back home lives high up in the mountains. You can see so many stars there. I bet you would love it! Do you like astronomy too?

Skiing is great fun! My Giant family rips up trees and carves skis out of them. We do it every winter, so I could show you all of the tricks. Snowball fights are fun! You should put me on your team though. I can throw really far! You would think they would fix the stairs after all those years, but maybe they just think it’s funny. Probably is unless you’re trying to get to class on time!

I do live in a tribe! My last name is actually the name of my tribe. Valun-Plemya is Russian for Boulder Tribe. We have a different name for it in the Giant language, but we all take that as our last name. We are not all half-giants. Many of us are full blooded, but sometime ago my people started to marry witches and wizards so our population wouldn’t dwindle away. Have you met a full blooded giant before? They are very big!

Your drawing is so pretty! Of course I will keep it! I am going to hang it above my desk so that I can look at it when I study and think of a friend. That would be wonderful to meet you at summer camp. Do you know what type of booth you would open? I will come looking for you unless you want to set a meeting point?

I'm good with books. I can recommend some Muggle books on the subject. I've had plenty of time to study them.

I can't even imagine your house. I was born and raised in a town, so I'm not used to large apartments, but sitting on the ground on the edge of the mountains and watching the stars must be so interesting and beautiful. I find the astronomy class very interesting.

Okay, if we ever meet, I'll add another item to the list of things you absolutely must show me. At this rate, the list will be two meters long. Haha. They don't fix the stairs and I think the professors see our situation and laugh at it, I'm pretty sure.

My booth will feature flower drawings I've drawn, and the first year I made beaded bracelets using beads and beautiful sayings I found in books. There will be space at the tables for anyone who wishes to create their own drawings and bracelets. I've asked my father for permission to use his ivy. I'm still unsure of the name, but I'm thinking of "Mysticism of Colors."
