Another racing captain position was open. It was a position that came open somewhat frequently and each time Simon gave it some thought. Could he be the next broom racing captain for his house team?
Simon had a lot of skills and qualities that could lead his team to victory. He was an exceptional flyer with expert broomstick handling from many years of practice and dedication. He had good leadership abiilities, knowing he could foster trust and help keep the team calm under pressure. If a situation arrose between two teammates, he was pretty certain he could help resolve conflicts to keep a good team dymanic.
He had quick reflexes and agility, mental toughness, knowledge of opponents, problem solving under pressure, and charisma and persuasion. What it was he lacked was strategic thinking. The captain must be able to develop game plans, adampting to changing cirmumstances and knowing all the ins and outs of broom racing so that the badgers could fly to the best of their ability and that was something he just didn't have a good grasp on.
Perhaps if he just researched the rules and dived a little further into broom racing in general he could grasp a better understanding. He went to the section on Broom Sports and gathered up a few titles where perhaps he could find the information he was searching.

Lillian had just 'discovered' broom racing a few weeks ago. It was little late in the year to realize something as common in the school as that, but she was never very attentive. She preferred to read and study.
She had been thinking about broom racing. She thought that if she gave it a try that she would like it. But, before trying to convince her parents, she had to be sure that this was something that she wanted to invest her time in. She needed to do some research. Lillian wasn't exactly sure what she wanted to find; she just wanted to learn more about the sport as a whole.
That was why Lillian was at the library today. She was heading towards the shelves that had books on broom racing. She frowned. Some of the books were missing. But she still found two books that she wanted to look at anyway. The titles were A Beginners Guide To The Sport Of Broom Racing and A History Of Broom Racers. Just some general stuff. That was exactly what she wanted.
Lillian started glancing at A History Of Broom Racers while heading towards the nearest table. She sat down and then realized there was someone else already there. He was a boy a few years older than her, but too young to be a seventh year. He looked vaguely familiar. Mabie he was a prefect, but she didn't see a badge. Anyway, it was too late to leave now. He probably wouldn't even notice her. In her experience students hung out in there own grade level.
So, Lillian started reading. She sat down A History Of Broom Racers open faced on her half of the table. Now her excited blue eyes started quickly scanning A Beginners Guide To The Sport Of Broom Racing for anything interesting. Now, she was in the 'spell' of books. She had temporary forgotten that she wasn't alone. Lillian was now fully focusing on her book for interesting pieces to read.
