Everyone has weaknesses. Everyone is scared of something. Some people face their fears and get over them. Luka was not one of those people. No, in fact, he was quite the opposite. He hated people, specifically gatherings of people. During his previous visit to Hogwarts, he learned that large gatherings of people also do not like him, as they tend to send him into a panic. And last time that happened, some kid showed up, which is likely the strangest way he'd ever met someone. During his visit to Hogwarts for the Spring Ball, he hadn't done anything that would result in any unnecessary interactions with people. He hadn't gone to the Astronomy Tower late at night, or to the Quidditch Pitch to read, and he'd even ignored someone he bumped in the corridors to avoid forming any sort of relationship with them. And so came the night of the ball, where we find him debating socialization.

Luka stood in front of his bed where his suit for the ball was laid out. He scowled at it in disdain. He could feel the exhaustion and anxiety radiating off the outfit. He didn't know why he was still debating going to the ball; he knew it would be hell, he knew he would hate it. Yet he still stood there, staring at his suit like it was the most vile thing in existence. Finally, after nearly ten minutes of internal consideration, he sighed, "What if I just..." He picked up all the pieces of the suit, kicked open his trunk, and dropped them in. Much better. He hummed in contentment and shut his trunk, but not before his sketchbook fell out. His moms had given it to him for his birthday the previous December. He picked it up and flipped through the first few pages, which he'd filled with drawings of random things he'd found inspiration from. A small smile flickered across his face, Why not?

His footsteps echoed through the empty halls of Hogwarts. There was a faint buzz of life from the other side of the castle, where the ball was being held, but Luka walked in the opposite direction from the noise towards the library. It was such an odd feeling to walk through the corridors of the castle alone. He took his time, appreciating the lack of people and admiring the paintings on the walls. Some of the portraits were asleep, while others kept to themselves, doing whatever it is living portraits do. I do wonder what it would be like to be confined to the walls of this castle, watching everyone walk by and live their lives, but never being a part of it.

He slipped quietly into the library, the lamps were still lit, but everything was still. The walls blocked out the sounds coming from the ball, the only sound coming from Luka's breath. Perfect silence like this was rare, even for someone who always sought it. He sat down at a random table and flipped open his sketch book to the next blank page. A lone book lay on the table next to him, titled Corvids. He opened it and found a lovely painted diagram of a crow. He took out a pencil and began to sketch it, his hair falling around his face as he leaned over the books in concentration. He was so enveloped by his art that he didn't even register the sound of soft footsteps entering the library.

Another year, another ball. The themed balls of Hogwarts were always an event, something people always look forward to. They get dolled up in pairs, dancing and laughing. Didn't someone get proposed to at the last ball? Point is, it's a thing, and it's romantic or something like that, Aston knows people go there as friends, not everyone can get a date for this stuff, he was one of those. Despite being one of the people who planned the ball this year, the theme was one he loved, the tavern and garden turned out wonderful if he said so himself, he didn't want to go. He had no one to go with, for some reason he didn't plan anything, and...well this felt like a foolish reason but he felt underdressed. Felt like that one old suit of his wasn't enough among everyone's beautiful themed outfits. What's Aston even gonna do there? Just stand in a corner and eat food? God knows he is not a good enough dancer to just ask random people to partner with him. Singing was always more to his liking anyway.

Whatever reason it was, he is now standing in front of the library at the night of the ball. Did he have a plan? An idea on why he was here out of everywhere? Or even just what he's gonna do here? No, no he didn't. The extent of his reasoning was that The library is a nice place, quiet and pleasant. On a night like this, it's bound to not have many people, frankly Aston was expecting no one in there, afterall who else will be here instead of dancing and having fun. With his sketchbook in hand - at this point he takes it with him whenever he doesn't really know what to do - Aston walked into the library, just to be met with a surprisingly familiar face. Would it be weird if I join him at that table? He probably came here for quiet. Overthinking was something Aston seldom did, especially when about social interaction, in fact he liked to think that he's good at talking to people, this seemed to be one of few exceptions. Fuck it, might as well.

"Hey, Luka right?" Aston's glad he managed to at least remember what the boy's name might be, their meeting was certainly a memorable one. "Mind if I sit here?" He put his sketchbook down on to a new page, planning to draw a section of the library, might as well since he's here. Aston took a peek at what Luka had on his page, it looked like a bird, maybe a crow? Either way it looked good, a nice piece of art. Aston gestured to their books, "Great minds think alike eh? Glad to see I'm not the only one who ditched the ball, anyways how's it been? It's been a while since I last saw you"

Despite the fact that he never socialized, Luka also needed breaks from people, just like everyone else. And drawing provided that for him in the same way books did, the only difference was that in the end, there was something to show for it. He'd gotten this sketchbook from his moms for Christmas along with a nice set of pencils. He'd never been particularly talented in any form of art, but he'd tried to draw something at least once a day because, as they say, practice makes perfect. Luka had always felt that saying was dumb; perfection is unattainable.

Just as he had finished shading the crow's beak to a standard of his approval, soft footsteps could be heard approaching him determinedly. He tensed up slightly, Who would be in the library at this hour? Especially given the fact that the Spring Ball should be in full swing by now. His pencil had stopped moving on the paper, and he looked up to see who was walking toward him, half expecting it to be the librarian or some professor telling him he couldn't be there. But when he did that, it wasn't a professor he saw, but it was the person he'd been hoping to never see again.

"Aston... Hello," Luka greeted him, slightly shocked to see the one person in the entire Hogwarts castle he had been trying to avoid. It wasn't that he disliked Aston, of course not, he'd been nothing but kind to Luka. But rather, he was embarrassed. Their first meeting hadn't been one he was proud of. Having a panic attack because he couldn't handle being around people wasn't a great reflection of his character, or what he claims his character is.

Luka gestures to the chair across from him, "No reason you can't."

He observed Aston for a moment. Why was he there? Why was he sitting across from Luka when there were a million other places he could've gone in the castle? "It has been fine, I suppose," He said rather stiffly, making fleeting eye contact with him. "I hope you've been well," He adds after a pause.

He appeared calm on the surface, but he was internally berating himself for sounding like a robot.

Aston smiled as he took the seat across from Luka, happy to enjoy the boy's company. Luka seemed a bit stiff but it was probably just because Aston came to bother him here, he brushed it off pretty quick. "Happy to hear it, I've been fine. Probably should've put in the effort and found someone to go the ball with but whatever. This is probably more fun anyway." Aston replied as he got settled in, beginning the lines that will become the walls of the library. The main appeal of the ball for him was always the visit of other students, chances to meet new people and talk about new things. He definitely enjoyed planning the thing, discussing the ideas for decorations and events was wonderful. Aston hopes the people doing the escape room are having fun, he probably would have gone there if he wasn't actually involved in its creation.

"Anything exciting going on over at Durmstrang? I feel like being there would feel a lot different then Hogwarts. The only other school I've been to was Beauxbatons in February, I think it was for valentine's day? I didn't pay a lot of attention to the events to be honest." He ended his sentence with a chuckle, he probably should have done some more things while he was over there, too late now. Hopefully there will be some more visits in the future. Ilvermorny always sounds interesting when his father is talking about it, though his dad probably can make everything sound interesting to Aston, it's like a magic he has, along side his actual wizard magic of course. It's a pity that there are only so many times other schools come to visit in a year, Aston would like to spend more time with Luka he thinks, learn more about the boy. He seems quite closed off but Aston definitely likes his company, he feels like a nice person to be around.
