"The flower that smells the sweetest is shy and lowly”-
--------- William WoodsWorth
——
The smell of salty summer air wafted through the small wizarding port town of Maudeline. The clear ocean water shimmered in the sun’s embracing rays. The soft pale sand danced slightly in the gentle humid breeze. The sound of seagulls cried out, flocking about while the occupants of the town seemed to mind their business chattering about, young children running about frolicking in the ocean's gentle waves.
While the beach was a welcoming sight to a certain young girl, her matching ocean-like eyes gazed softly down at the ocean as she sat atop of a quarry of large boulders that were above sea level. Away from prying eyes. A peaceful little area that Isadora preferred. Nobody usually knew where to find her besides her Muma and her Maman and other family members that knew the girls hiding places.
Isadora held her knees close to her chest, her curly auburn hair was pulled back in a pony tail as she wore a thin beige beach shawl draped over her shoulders along with a cream white boho crop top and blue jean shorts. Her feet were adorned with beige sandals that had little flowers embedded atop of them. Neatly tied around her head was her signature bandana with an array of tropical flowers of varying colors of pinks and blues atop of her head.
Isadora was lost in thought her mind was all over the place. The girl silently wished she had brought her journal along to write down these haunting thoughts of hers.
Many things have happened in Isadora’s first technical year at Castelobruxo though she started late as a second year many things seemed to have happened that quite frankly made the girl think she was cursed.
The girl was a monster during the full moons, but yet she felt like her life was cursed, a fated curse to turn into a werewolf during the fullest of moons. She dreaded those nights it always felt awful for the girl. Though she took her wolfsbane potion as if it was tradition by now she still felt terrified of what she would become. Who could truly love a cursed beast? Or care for them? Wherever Isadora was, something drastic seemed to happened. First it was that attack at Hogsmeade which traumatized the young pre-teen but that was just a coincidence that Isadora brushed off, secondly the young girl got into some trouble at Castelobruxo, but if it was not for the fact that Alphonse came to save her the young girl would have been a bloody mess. Yet because of her the boy had gotten expelled from Castelobruxo leaving the girl and her other cousin alone without Alphonse. Thirdly while the girl attended the spring ball though she had some good outcomes making a few acquaintances like Devon Wallen and Hans Jenssen the girl also made a good friend with Matthew Campbell. Someone she bonded with quickly and yet that ball ended up in flames literally. It was as if Isadora was cursed.
The young girl sighed softly, staring at her reflection in the clear blue ocean's surface. The water rippled slightly and a few fishes drifted by some darting quickly as if startled, but Isadora did not mind it was relaxing.
The girl found comfort in her own company. It was less of a chance of something awfully horrible happening when she was alone. Loneliness? What a strange thing that the girl despised yet she felt rather safe alone. When others are around her is just asking for trouble. A cursed beast destined to destroy those around her.
Hugging her knees tightly the young girl continued to gaze down at her reflection in the watery surface. She had no idea what her family saw in the girl. Her Muma always praised the girl. She was smart, excelled in classes and seemed to have a good idea on Potions. While her Muman seemed to try and urge the girl to make friends and find people to bond with. The girl was a bit nervous to tell her mothers about those she met over the spring at Hogwarts, but she also figured it was not a rather large deal. After all those people she barely kept in contact though occasionally she would owl Matthew, but supposed the boy was a bit of an exception.
Not only that her Tantie always showered the girl with new plants and advice when she needed it. Isadora could only wish that she was as brave as the older woman. She held an air of authority and though she could be terrified she could hide it fairly well at least that was how Isadora perceived the woman.
Isadora had to admit she was lucky to be surrounded by a family that seemed to love and adore her. Of course Isadora was a special case she supposed. Her Mother’s pride and joy. Both women loved the young girl even for the cursed beast she was.
Yet Isadora felt empty, as if something was missing? Though the girl had to admit she was avoiding Alphonse like the plague. The boy that she was once attached to by the hip she was avoiding as if he would be infected or disappear in the darkness that seemed to consume the girl. Afterall it was her fault that he got expelled and was forced to go to Ilvermorny, her fault that he got into a bloody fight. Everything that went wrong was her fault.
Hugging her knees tighter Isadora felt her heart clinch in pain as tears seemed to threaten to spill from her ocean blue eyes. A cursed beast that had no cure. A cursed beast that was destined to make those around her suffer. A curse that Isadora had no idea how to fix yet something she would have to learn to deal with alone.![]()

“If I tell you my darkness? Will you still look at me Like the moon?”
Silver Linings
Truth be told, the Toussaint boy experienced a sense of apprehension when leaving the house without the proximity of his parents, friends, or family after getting his ass beat by two of three of Geneviève's elder brothers.
Refusing and rebuking the very notion of telling a soul who exactly jumped him a few days back despite his family's mortification of the blackened bruises and sand-caked scrapes collected as souvenirs of the beating, Alphonse feigned a half-baked story that his parents likely didn't quite believe wholeheartedly. Even though it was quite evident that he had been brutally subdued, his pride hurt and tail tucked between his legs, the boy was no snitch.
His mother eventually gave up prying for information from her most stubborn and chuckleheaded son, and Sarai didn't bother to tend to magically heal his swollen and bruised face out of frustration. Even if it wasn't Geneviève's elder brothers who attacked him, Alphonse still wouldn't have shared the identity of his accosters, yet his budding friendship-relationship with the French Duellist seemed to complicate matters further. The Toussaint boy was fearful that Sarai would initiate some sort of blood feud and refuse him from seeing or communicating with Geneviève via owl if Alphonse disclosed the truth of what truly occurred that day.
It didn't seem to stop there; his own blood, Briar and Isadora, seemed to act differently towards the eldest Toussaint progeny once they met her. They remained polite towards Geneviève—Alphonse wouldn't tolerate anyone disrespecting his girl by any means—but behind closed doors, the boy was greeted with a cold shoulder by those once closest to him. Why? He had not a clue.
In the case of his twin brother Briar, Alphonse could fathom the bad blood to an extent; Isadora, however, remained the boggling mystery of her sudden detachment following his expulsion from Castelobruxo. It was she who Alphonse risked it all to protect that day in December; her sudden lack of loyalty was not lost on the Toussaint boy, and admittedly, it stung a bit despite the proud demeanor Alphonse so comfortably wore.
A short walk to his aunties, Makaria and Luciana, to locate Isadora yielded varied results; rather than bestowing Alphonse with the answer he sought, the women pressed their nephew about his bruised face. An injured Alphonse wasn't truly all that much surprising anymore given his aptitude for trouble, and the Toussaint boy said no more than necessary to quell the women's curiosity with the same lies he used on his mother.
It seemed like a lifetime before they finally dropped the subject, realizing that Alphonse wouldn't bestow a straight answer, and Luciana reluctantly explained where Isadora could be found: the beach. Alphonse was familiar with exactly which patch of the beach to find her—a secluded area that was away from the tourists and overtaken with rounded boulders, tall grasses, and Caribbean wildflowers.
When Luciana and Makaria weren't looking from the porch of their home, Alphonse would snatch Isadora's dark lilac-colored bike (that was too small for him) from their shed and set off down the paved pathway through the wizarding port town of Maudeline. Diverting from the cobblestoned pathway to cut across the grass towards their beloved little nook, Alphonse skidded to a stop to prevent himself from accidentally toppling forward off the sudden drop-off into white sand. He'd drag her bike into the tall brush beside him as he approached the large boulders where Isadora remained.
Alphonse climbed up and took a seat beside her and admired the view for a short while, then quipped without meeting her gaze: "Are you gonna keep avoiding me forever, or will you finally talk to me?"

"The flower that smells the sweetest is shy and lowly,” —William Wordsworth
Crashing waves echoed around Isadora. As the ocean waves smashed against the cool rocky surface of the edge of the seaside rocks. The girl’s crystal sea blue eyes reflected the rays from the sunlight that grazed down upon her. The salty air burning the girl’s nostrils with each crash seemed to spray the salty water up closer and closer to the girl's line of sight. The young Teenage girl seemed confused with her thoughts, everything seemed to be crashing around her as if by an unknown force the girl was destined to walk a path of destruction and chaos or just misfortunate events she supposed.
Lost in the sound of the crashing waves, the young girl kept her knees close to her chest gazing across the cool ocean surface. Something about the ocean was calming and relaxing, maybe it was just being surrounded by water that was relaxing to the young girl as if nothing dreadful could happen near the ocean. The ocean is a vast massive body of water full of mysteries.
So lost in her thoughts Isadora did not notice the young boy that seemed to sit down beside her before he spoke up. Startling the young girl. Isadora turned her gaze towards Isadora feeling her mind spinning quickly with her thoughts jumbling together she had no idea how to respond at the moment her mind confused and startled as she quickly glanced downwards at the oceans surface.
“Avoiding is a strong word…”
Isadora muttered softly as she hugged her knees tightly, her mind spinning thinking of a proper response to give her cousin. Though she did not have a proper response, maybe a petty one. Something along the ways of fear of harming him more of him getting into more trouble or him just disappearing strange things the girl supposed but things that were not impossible not in this lifetime nor ever. Isadora took a moment of silence before taking a shaky breath thinking of her words carefully not to upset her cousin, but to explain her worries and fears.
“Bad things happen around me. Destruction, fire, you getting expelled. Merely protecting you from misfortune from the curse.”
Isadora spoke softly as the young girl shifted slightly. A curse that was how the girl felt around others. A monster during the fullest of moons and yet a curse during the normal moon cycles as well with fires breaking out and explosions the girl was still young to understand anything besides feeling as if it was slightly her fault as if she somehow caused any of this. Of course things happen for a reason either fate or coincidence.
Isadora had no idea why things seemed rather chaotic in her life. Once something carefree and happy until that dreadful accident where she became cursed the girl had no idea how to feel or how to think on the matter. Living a life of uncertainty and fear in the shadows of her mind, yet the girl just wished to keep her family protected and safe. Her goal was to try her best to keep everyone safe. She had to try at least right?
