Lies Unfolded
Halston stood in the doorway leading up to the Owlery. She gazed at the thousands of steps, wondering whether she'd survive the flight. She could only hope so.
In her hand she carried not one, but two books, one on Magic Theory and the other on Potions. She was going to study them later but right now she had tasks to finish, and one of them was climbing up this staircase.
As she walked Halston thought about the heartfelt letter she had just written. It took four tries but she had finally gotten it perfect.
That was one of the two letters. Halston had another, the regular one she would send to her mother. This one was absent of the lies of the previous. Although her father didn't seem to care too much about how well his only inbred daughter was doing, sending him a letter showed the respect that Halston seemed to fail otherwise to give. But the strangest thing was that she didn't feel one bit upset about that deceitful letter. It was hard to care where a care wasn't given.
Halston finally reached the Owlery. She grinned at the sound of the squawking birds, she couldn't wait to get her own. Halston went over to the regular-paced ones and began preparing her postage.
That's when she hurried a noise behind her. Halston turned around, eyes wide as she looked around the room. She had thought she was alone. She found a boy nearby and swallowed, but she needed to send this letter to her father, the one for her mother's could wait.
Halston quickly tied to the letter to the owl and sent it on it's way. Then she quickly made for the stares, not noticing how a letter slipped out from between her books.

Dear Sir Duval Wright and Mrs. Magdalena Wright-Kildare,
Hello father and stepmother. How are you two faring in the Wright abode? I should think well. I feel that you would be proud to hear that I've been doing quite well academically. My marks have been prestigious by my professor's standards. Ellery has even applauded me for a job well done.
But I am not here to brag, I am here to tell you that I am also doing well. I have made many friends here and am trying for the Gryffindor Quidditch team—yes, Gryffindor! I've made it into your house, father! I hope that you are proud of me.
Overall I think that Hogwarts is boding well for me, and will continue to do so for the next seven years—graduation seems right around the corner!
Your Loving Daughter,
Halston S. Wright, of Gryffindor

Lies Unfolded
Two weeks. A bit more actually since he has left his home to come here and was sent to the Slytherin House by the Sorting Hat. He wasn't surprised at all by this decision. After all, he knew for a very long time that the values of the green house were the closest to him. At least, for once, maybe his parents will be pleased by something comming from him. And of course, the next morning, he received an owl from his family to ask in which house he was send. The same house than his older brother. Everythinf they wanted.
And the days have past. He wasn't very close of anyone yet, and he didn't know if he will be one day. He wasn't looking for friendship anyway. All he had to do was to stay in the rank and get good marks. Not to difficult so far. Even if he was quiet in class, his homework were quite good and he never got anything but "O" and he hoped to keep it that way.
Today, he decided to go to the Owlery to send a message to his younger sister Carry. The only person that really cared about him in this family. She was the only one left in the boarding school now and he didn't wanted to left her all alone. So he promised her to send at least one letter each week to give her news and tell her about the castle. He wrote his letter earlier this morning, just telling her about the classes he had all the week, he didn't have much things to say anyway, and hopped that it would be enough for her. He already knew that the answer will take a while to came, because he was sending this message to his parents, that will send it in the muggle way to the boarding school and the answer will have to go through the same path.
Finally, he arrived at the Owlery, after quite a long climbing...Who had the idea to put so many stairs to go to a place were students were supposed to go quite often to send news to their families ? Whatever... Rapidly, he find an owl and attached the message before letting her fly. He was looking at the shape of the owl fadding in the sky when the sound of the door opening behind him made him turn around. He saw another girl, approximately his age, with curled golden hair and hazel eyes. He smiled politely and slightly nod his head in a quite impersonal salute, before turning back to the window. But he couldn't prevent himself fron noticing that she didn't seem confortable to see him here...Maybe not looking at her will help. She quickly did what she had came for and he heard the door opened again. He gave a quick look ang saw a letter fell from the girl's arms to the floor, and she obviously didn't notice it since she lived the owlery anyway. He picked up the letter and got out of the room before calling her, in a soft and polite voice, hopping that she would hear him...He did'nt wanted to run after her in the entire castle

-Excuse me Miss ! You drop something in the Owlery
He still had the letter in his hand and was trying to show it to her.

Halston was three steps down when the boy called out to her. Heart still racing, she froze in place, unsure of what to do. She had only dropped the letter, and it didn't sound like he was opening it, so there wasn't anything to worry about.
She slowly turned around, bushing hard. Halston bit her lip and looked from him to the letter and back. It was of course her mother's letter but she couldn't figure out why she felt so bad about it, it couldn't just this boy's presence.
Halston walked up to him slowly and looked him in the eye for no longer than a second, and then looked away. “Thank you...,” she murmured. She rubbed her arm and held out her hand for the letter. “That was really kind of you to...hey, what?”
The girl snatched the letter from the boy, not caring for a moment about how rude that was. It couldn't be...Halston sucked in her breath and her face changed into the look of someone about to cry: she had owled the wrong letter! Her father was going to get the one where she talked about how much she hated being at home, being at school, and all of her life's problem. Halston's life was officially ruined, and there was nothing she could do about it.
She sunk to the ground, her eyes covering her face as she sobbed. “My dad's going to hate me, oh my God...” Her face was red now, in terror and embarrassment. Halston couldn't figure out how she had been so careless.
She didn't think about the kind boy for the moment, she was so angry with herself, but more fearful for her mother. When her father found that she has been sending all kinds of letters to her mother that would be the end of it. “How could I be so, stupid...?” She asked herself, rocking back and forth. She was having a mental breakdown.

Luckily for him, the girl wasn't far from the owlery and she had stopped when he called her.
He felt compulse to give her back the letter but he didn't wanted to search for her for hours. He stayed at the top of the stairs, waiting for her to turn around and look at him. She seemed to have some trouble doing it but she finally did and look at him. He sustained her look, not agressive but not smiling either. His face remain neutral as usal. And finally, she moved and get the letter back, barely looking at him. But whatever he didn't care.

-You're welcome...
He was about to go doow the stairs but she seemed to notice something on the letter and she get really panic all of the sudden. He didn't understand what was wrong with the letter but it was obviously a disaster for her judging by her reaction... She sunk to the ground, mumbled a few things that did not help Aloysius to understand what was wrong with the letter... He didn't what to do right now, he was never good in helping other people...Or just with other people, no matter the situation. He thought of going to look for someone, an adult, someone responsible but when he looked at her he knew he couldn't leave her alone.
He finally put his knees on the floor next to her and tried to talk to her. He wasn't speaking very loudly but he hopped that his calm voice will help her to calm down. He hesitate a bit but finaly put his hand on the girl's arm, to help her notice that she wasn't alone, that someone was there and was trying to help her.

-Hey...listen...I don't know what's wrong but it can't be that bad...There is probably a solution to your problem...I might help you if I can and if you want...But you need to calm down first...Try to breathe calmly...You can use my breathing as a landmark if you want...And try to relax...You'll be okay...
He continue to talk to her, his voice as calm as usual, hopping that this would help her. He was also hopping that someone else will come and wille be able to go look for help because he wasn't sure that he could really help her with that crisis

Halston sobbed for a few long minutes, ignoring the boy behind her. She was expecting a Howler any second now, or even for a father to just apparate in front of her...with the belt. She shuddered at the thought, staring at the floor below her in a blur of tears. All she could do was sit there and cry, and cry, and cry, until the end of time.
That's when she noticed the boy again, or the fact that he was still there. Halston squinted at him in confusion and then it dawned to her that he was still trying to help her. Her lips trembled in sorrow but she still managed a shaky grin. Wiping her tears, Halston said, “I'm sorry, I look really pitiful, I know.”
She choked back a son, heaving a little as her face contorted into something grotesque that matched how she was feeling inside. She felt so rotten, having written all of those terrible things about her family, her school, and her life. At the time of riding it hadn't seemed like a big deal but now she felt like some sort of...criminal.
She remembered faintly of what the boy had been saying, recalling his breathing techniques. Halston meant to chuckle but it came out as a crazed laugh. I'm pretty sure he thinks I'm crazy now.
Halston copied his position and sat on her knees, studying him from his clothes all the way to his face, where she stared into his eyes. The desperation and fear before had suddenly vanished and all that was left was a girl with a sad look in her puffy, red eyes.
“Why are you trying to help me?” she asked, more like demanded. “Why don't you run away from a crazy, selfish girl like me?” A single tear rolled down her check as she glanced down at the crumpled letter which had been meant for her father. Now all she wanted to do was shred it into pieces.
