Mischief Managed...Sorta

Robin enters the library with papers and books in her hand. She looks around the quiet area and find a secluded spot near the window. It has been a boring day for Robin. Classes seemed to stretch out forever and the work just seemed to be piling up. Robin wished for some fun.

She sighed and dropped everything in her arms with a huff. She looked around to see some kids laughing quietly and some actually doing their work. Robin opened her Transfiguration textbook and laid her homework beside it. With her pen in her hand, she looked out the window. At least she opened the textbook. Robin usually finished her work as soon as she got it but when she woke up this morning, Robin just wanted to go do nothing. It was a pretty day today and Robin wished she could just go outside and enjoy the day.

Robin groaned and put her head on the textbook. She was never going to get this done. She lifted her head and looked at the book. All the words seemed to be super tiny and the pages went on forever about one topic. Robin dropped her pen and rested her chin on her hand. Robin looked around and watched the different students. Feeling envious for the students who actually woke up today ready to work. Robin wished for a little fun.

Sunday mornings at Hogwarts seemed to drag on forever. Even the birds chirped tiredly. Drained by the week's work, most kids would sleep until noon. Normally, Cormac would have slept well past noon, but, that particular Sunday, things weren't going the usual way.

He had woken up fairly early due to un urgent need to go to the bathroom. The Boy's Lavatory was probably the dirtiest, most unsanitary place in the whole castle and the stinking smell was hardly bearable. As he opened one of the stalls' door in a rush, he was taken aback by the sight of a big, blue, shiny oval-object sitting on top of the toilet.

He got closer and inspected it for a while. After touching and holding it, he concluded it had to be some sort of egg. Who in their right mind would sneak an egg into such a place? The right thing to do would have obviously been to hand the discovery to a Professor. But 'the right thing to do' didn't even cross Cormac's mind and, letting curiosity take over, he placed it in his robe's inside pocket and headed back to the Common Room.

He decided that, in order to take up the responsibility of caring for an egg, he first needed to know what sort of being was growing inside. The library seemed like the place to go.

Scanning through the Magical Creatures section, he found a Fantastic Eggs: An Introductory Guide copy. He sat down with it in a nearby table, next to a blond Hufflepuff girl. It didn't take him long to a find an exact replica of the blue egg; under the image, read the name: ‘Portuguese Long-Snout’.

Cormac cursed under his breath, unable to believe his eyes. He had just hidden a dragon egg in a suitcase by his bed. A thousand questions ensued: who in Merlin's name was its original owner? Should he hand it in? Should he keep it? Feeling a mix of shock and excitement brewing inside him, he whispered to the girl beside him:

“Do you, by any chance, happen to know anything about dragon care?”

Robin looked at the boy sitting next to her. She hesitated with his question. She looked back and forth between the boy and the dragon egg. Well, at least that is what she thought it was. She's never seen one this close before. She wanted to touch it but she thought better. She thought back to the boy's question.

"Uh, a little. Only the stuff from classes and such." Robin whispered back slowly.

She had no idea how this student got a dragon egg. He probably stole it from the mother somehow or from the teacher. At that moment, Robin didn't really care. There was a dragon egg right in front of her. It was a nice shade of blue and was a bit big. Robin glanced at the page that the boy was looking at. Robin's eyes widen. On the page was the egg in front of her and the words Portuguese Long-Snout.

"That's- that's a Portuguese Long-Snout! How did you find that? I thought they were extinct." Robin said. She has heard rumors and talks about this dragon. The fact that it was in front of her made her heart skip a beat. This boring day just got better. Robin took the book from the boy and started flipping through it. She skimmed through different dragons and what they needed or look like. There wasn't much on this specific type of dragon since it was rare and supposedly extinct, so she just mostly looked at the other rare dragon and a bit about common ones too. The egg care and early life care mostly said the same thing.

"Okay, from what I see its practically the care is the same as any other dragon. Kinda. You need to keep it warm until it hatches. Then that's where the fun stuff happens." Robin smiled at the boy. Then she thought about it if this boy keeps the egg he could get in trouble. Especially when the egg is this rare. Even though she didn't really know the boy other than the fact he found a dragon egg somewhere or stole it, she didn't want for him to get in trouble.

"Are-are you gonna keep it for a while or turn it in?"
