I'm going to find. The flower inside of me.
I'm going to find. The flower inside of me.
It’s a warm, sunny day. The sky was clear and blue like the ocean. The sunshine gradually filled Rosaline’s bedroom. She was just woken up by the sun dropped at her. She sat up and looked at the alarm clock beside her. It showed 7 o’clock.
She took a look around, thinking that she would soon leave this place and go to Hogwarts. It made her a bit sad.
There were light green walls and stacks of books, and some CDs around the room. A big glass bookshelf were in here too. Inside were Rosaline’s own collection of books. Some were picture books she had read when she was still a little child, and some were novels that she started to read recently. She had been obsessed with Jane Austen for a year. Though Austen’s works were a little too hard for her. Also there were a lot of posters pasted on the wall, the one that stood out the most was The Clash’s poster which was Rosaline’s favorite. She even had an old T-shirts of the band, use it as pajama. Her room also placed a guitar that she treasured a lot. Her room was a presentation of her curiosity and adventure toward the world. “I will definitely miss here.” Rosaline thought.
Then, she came downstairs to see her father’s biggest smile in the world. “Morning Rosiehoney!” It’s a nickname that her dad Julian loved to call her, but as she grew older, she felt shy about it. “Morning dad! Where’s mom? Is she still on her mission?” Rosaline asked. Julian was wearing an apron and answered: “Elowen is on the mission, you’re right. She called yesterday to let us know she will be home tomorrow! So you can see her soon.” Then he started to fried some eggs and bacon.
Her mom, Elowen. Wrenford, is an Auror. She often goes out for the missions, every time it may take her three to four days or even longer to complete the mission. Rosaline wasn’t always happy about her mom’s absence, but they still loved each other.
When she was still in the mood, Julian placed a plate in front of her. On the plate were eggs and bacon arranged in a shape of smiley face. Rosaline smiled to her dad, Julian smiled back and asked: “What’s your plan today? You must be excited about the upcoming letter of acceptance and to go to Hogwarts.” Rosaline answered excitedly: “Ah yes! I plan to go to the library today. And I’m really looking forward going to Hogwarts very much! Can’t wait to learn some magic!” Julian said: “I’m happy that you are not nervous about it.” He looked at his watch, “Oh no, It’s time for work. “He then picked up his briefcase, looked for something, and finally found it.” Goodbye Rosiehoney. Have a good day!”
Rosaline’s parents were busy at times, like today. She wanted to talk about Hogwarts more, her parents wanted to stay with her too, but wishes couldn’t always be fulfilled. She felt upset, poked her remaining bacon on the plate, stared out of the window next to the front door. The weather was amazingly good outside. As she was daydreaming, a black paw sneaked on to the table, wanted to grab the bacon. Interrupted by the cat, Rosaline got out of that upset mood, and spoke to her cat, Golden: “Golden! You are not supposed to be on the table!” Golden lazily sat back on the chair, licking her paws, like nothing happened. Golden squinted at Rosaline, did her silence protest. “Oh you mischievous little cat!” Rosaline now snapped out of the bad thoughts, she then started to prepare for going out. Refilled Golden’s water and food bawl. She picked the outfit she loved. Brought a book she’s currently reading.
She pushed open the front door. The summer breeze was blowing, brining fragrance of flowers. Soon, Rosaline would start her own adventure.

When The Owl Came
Time: Some day in July
Place: Home

Another day.
Rosa sat in the living room, a book in hand. The room was full of shelves and stacks, they’re the Everharts’ collection. All sorts of books, from classics like Dostoevsky to modern novels like Game of Thrones. There were also magical books, Rosa was reading Magical Theory at that time, she wanted to learn ahead before school. She had been excitedly waiting for her letter all week, but hadn’t receive it yet.
Her dad Julian was cooking in the kitchen, he was basically the chef of the Everhart family. Though Elowen could simply use household magic to cook, but she wasn’t very interested in it.
Suddenly, the Floo network in their fireplace shone with emerald flames, and there was Elowen. Rosa leapt from her cozy reading spot and throw her arms around Elowen. “Mum! I really missed you!”
Elowen kissed Rosa’s cheek. “Hi sweetheart! I missed you too.”
Julian popped his head out of the kitchen. “Darling! You’re back. We barely survived another day without you.”
Elowen smiled and stepped further in the room and chatted with him a while.
Julian put the delicious food onto the table. The Everhart family was finally united (though Elowen had only been away on a three-day mission). They discussed the houses of Hogwarts. Rosa wasn’t sure which house she belong to. Her relatives on her maternal side were always been Ravenclaws and Slytherins, Elowen was a Ravenclaw herself. Rosa imagined she might her mother’s path to become a Ravenclaw too because of her love for books and knowledge.
She asked Elowen with eager curiously, “Mum, do you have any idea which house I might be sorted into?”
Elowen replied, “Rosa, I really couldn’t say. Everyone carries traits from each house. I think you might be the sort of child the Hat takes its time to decide on.”
Hmmm, what if it can’t decide at all! What if I get stuck under the hat for a very long time? That would be awkward…… A flicker of worry crossed her face.
In the meantime, a scratching noise came from the closed window. It was a long-eared owl with a letter tied to its leg. Rosa sprang up to open the window. She calmed the owl down and gently offered it some owl treats to rest. She then opened the letter, it said:
“Dear Miss Everhart,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment……”
“WOW! It’s here! I really thought it might never come.” Rosa held the letter and happily read it aloud to her parents.
“It looks like we should all go to Diagon Alley to buy you a new wand.” Elowen said, composed but glowing with pride. Julian was excited too. He leaned in to read the letter with Rosa.
That night, the wind was still blowing outside. Moonlight glimmered through the windows. Lying on her bed, Rosa couldn’t sleep.
I hope everything would be alright.
After the excitement, she began to feel worried about all the new things she would encounter: a new life, a new school, new people and new subjects. She hoped she could do well enough to exceed her parents’ expectations.
Besides all these thoughts, Golden, the black cat, quietly crawled onto the bed. Rosa stroked her fur, she was purring. Feeling more and more relaxed, Rosa finally fell asleep peacefully.
