cherry blossom
I thought I was alone

here in my grave.

the grave i watched you dig,

where i drown in my tears.

But there is another broken heart

and she is in this grave, too.

I do not know who put her here.

She holds my hand

and strokes my hair

while her own heart crumbles away.

But there is something beautiful

about her tears

they are sad

yet something else.

I ask her what to do

because I do not want to feel like this

She looks me in the eyes and says

"grow from it"

And so we hold eachother

til our broken hearts

share their broken pieces

and our tears join

to water the earth.

and at her feet,

a cherry blossom tree begins to grow.

You're feeling like you're shot down on the ground
When will the fantasy end?

air mattress
if i had to describe

my broken heart

to your simple mind,

I would say it's like

sleeping on an air mattress.

you will fall asleep

at the start of the night

on a full, sturdy surface

yet when you wake up

you'll find yourself practically

on the floor.

You will not understand

why the mattress lost all its air,

all of its progress

And so you search

and patch

every damn hole

and pray the mattress will be able

to handle your weight

as it tears with every movement.

And you will wake up once more

only to find

three more holes on the mattress

you thought you fixed.

wishes
the stars know your nickname

and there are lashes in the wind

that whisper it .

the ashes of candles

still dance to the syllables

of your name,

and every lucky penny

has seen my hopeful face.

But something changed today

because as I looked

for the first star

my first thought was to wish

that I could forget you

rather than to get you back.

Chapter 3: Healing
untie
You took my emotions, thoughts, and feelings,

and twisted them up like yarn

until there were more knots

then I can count.

And here I sit

5 months later

caught in the loops of my sorrow

trying to untangle your mess

But now as I work my fingers

and try and try

I feel the first knot come undone

and then another,

and another.

And so I begin to untie,

each knot a memory

until I am halfway free.

It is not much,

but I have room to breathe.

Not only do I love the poems, and their meanings, I love even more that you were able to make these based off of actual things that happened to you. When I read your backstory, I don't know what I was.going to expect. But it was not this. You took every aspect of that story, of the guy that hurt you so much, and turned into this. While what you had to go through is definitely not ok, what's so amazingly it is that you didn't let it get to you, instead, you turned it into something beautiful. I know.writing some of these may not have easy, because those memories might trigger anxiety, or perhaps even just make you uncomfortable, but I'm proud of you for pushing through it. These poems truly are amazing, I enjoyed reading them very much.

A semicolon (;) is the most powerful symbol out there. The author could have ended the sentence, or the story, even, but chose not to.
