Galton and Toad had settled in for the year quite well. The boy and cat were truly the best of friends, and in quite a short time. A month since his adoption and Toad seemed all the more healthy and happy. The scab that had spanned the feline's belly had turned into quite a nice scar. This scar only added to Toad's true beauty. At least, that is what Galton liked to believe. Most would probably not find the shaved cat that cute. But a hairless cat was, in Galton's mind, the only solution to his parents cruel pet policies (but that is another story).

The sun shined outside, sparse clouds inviting the duo to enjoy a leisurely stroll about. Galton still needed to show his naked friend his new home, in addition to possibly making a few new friends. He'd heard that dogs were a great way to have people approach you, and from the looks of Toad, Galton would be swimming in admirers. Maybe if the day's breeze was light enough the duo would swim. Toads could swim well enough, Galton was sure Toad would be able to as well.

A short meow came out of the pale feline as they rounded a corner of a dirt walkway. The breeze today was quite strong despite the sunshine, and the possibility that Toad was chilling was well within Galton's mind. What do you do for a cold cat? Galton hadn't thought about the risk of exposure. Poor Toad.

Toad let another meow out, rubbing up against Galton's leg as they walked on. Her distress became more apparent as she pawed at his leg, preparing to jump onto the boy to seek shelter. Galton began pondering how to best hide the cat from the dastardly wind. Only wearing a shirt and shorts he was left with few options. He crouched down, scratched Toad's head as he scooped her into his shirt, holding her so the front rolled forward, envelope her in a makeshift hammock, leaving his belly button exposed. Toad meowed again, a sign to continue on? Galton liked to think so.

Though Olphie normally found life to be vibrant, she could not help but find today, this bright and cloudless day, to be tinted gray. November often felt dull, but today was especially difficult. The exciting hubbub of the beginnings of a new school year had calmed. A respite from childish issues was long away. Not even buying a new wardrobe of outfits could save her from this mundane morning.

It was quite obvious that something was off about the Flying professor this morning, as she was wearing quite a muted outfit, though it called out to her most recent crush on the mysterious astronomy professor. She strolled aimlessly on the ground, uncertain of what to do to lift her spirits. Hogsmeade was too far for a drink, and though she would be certainly happy with a make out session, she had yet to run into any eligible professors. For the first time since she had arrived at Hogwarts, she wished that she could go back to being on the Harpies. She was never bored there, with her closest friends and multitude of lovers.

A sudden chill overtook her as she realized just how brisk it was. Certainly she had missed a page of the catalogue of the latest fashions; maybe she should go back and ensure that she had achieved her goal of buying something from every page. Olphie was just about to retreat back to her quarters when a sudden 'meow' shocked her for the second time. Eyes lowering, Olphie's gaze fell upon a small...

Was it a rat? Mouth slightly agape, she couldn't help but stare. Who would have bought that horrendous thing? As she looked dumbfoundedly on, Olphie continued to watch the scene as that chubby boy from one of her classes took the animal upward and wrapped it in his shirt, revealing his rotund stomach. Not a small girl herself, Olphie couldn't criticize him, but she couldn't help but refrain from wondering if the boy had any sense of style, for this was not a good look. Cat or outfit.

She couldn't refrain from looking onward any further and, clearing her throat, wondered, "Can I help you?"

With the question, Olphie wondered if perhaps this situation would be the excitement she was looking for on this physically sunny but emotionally gloomy day. She could only hope.

Normally when Galton was asked if he needed help he’d just laugh an awkward laugh and run away, letting the sound of his footsteps away be his answer. But today was different. Not just anyone was asking if he needed help. It was her, the famous professor. So Galton wouldn’t run today, at least not quite yet.

Professor Bercegeay was waiting for an answer and Galton had to think fast because he’d sat in mild amazement (stared) for what felt like a bit too long now. “Well, Toad and I are on an adventure but she got cold!” He looked down to his hairless friend and shifted awkwardly to free and hand and pet her on the head. “I think the wind might ruin out adventure.” He said the last point like he’d just lost some kind of major award.

Looking in on the situation, moving the adventure indoors was probably Galton’s best bet, but they had significantly less floor to cover. Toad was rather adept at running off and exploring the castle. Even if Galton didn’t actually know that’s where Toad was, it’s what he believed. Toad would never flee from Galton’s warm embrace for any reason other than wanderlust.

As the boy waited for a reply from the nice professor he let his natural smile show. Maybe a bit late, but A for effort?

Her neck prickled uncomfortably as the boy stared at her. Olphie was used to stares, of course, but she hadn't entirely expected to feel so...awkward. It wasn't like she could flirtatiously wink back, like she normally did with her fans, as this boy was a child. She had a strict flirting policy with fans who were legal, and though the number of legal fans was limited at Hogwarts, she had no plans to abandon her standards. Uncertain as to what to do to fill the silence, though, she instead focused her eyes on the squirming creature that remained concealed in the boy's shirt, ignoring the fashion faux pas of a bulging belly in the crisp autumn air.

Finally, he spoke, detailing an adventure that his pet and he were to go on, only to be thwarted by the wind. Olphie blinked as she took in his words, focusing particularly on the animal's name of "Toad." She returned a prolonged stare, like he had before, as she waited for some sort of explanation. That...that thing, which she had thought was a cat, though it looked like a naked one, didn't appear to be a toad. Then why was it named Toad, exactly? Maybe she had imagined it being larger than it actually was?

The boy offered a natural smile, and Olphie couldn't help but conclude that no explanation would be given. Off-put by the interaction, she hesitated a moment further before deciding to wonder, "It...it's a cat, right? I...er...can't tell then way he's bunched in your shirt-"

She froze, an idea hitting her. Hadn't she seen something about animal fashion in one of her catalogues? Perhaps... but before she could help the animal from the biting temperature, she had to be certain it was a cat, after all. Cat fashions were in, but toad fashions? Last she heard, people were trying to remove warts rather than embellish them.

Galton stifled a laugh with the question. Had she never seen a cat before? Maybe they didn’t allow cats on that fancy quidditch team of hers. But they allowed them at Hogwarts, and many students had them. Cats at flying class wasn’t normal, so he’d let it slide. He smiled wilder looking down at Toad.

“Yes! This is Toad, she is a very nice cat!” He pulled the pale beast out of its nest and presented it to her, two arms extended and Toad dangled from them. She meowed in response. The meow sounded strangely happy given her nakedness, the harsh wind, and man-handling she was currently experiencing.

Galton peered around from behind the cat he still held extended in front of him. “Do you wanna go on an adventure with us?” Toad meowed with Galton, a clear invitation by both accounts. Galton returned Toad to his shirt hammock.

The lad thought about all the extraordinary adventures he could go on with Professor Bercegeay. They could defeat probably like anything. With her speed and Galton’s wit, those puny monsters would be doomed! Or maybe they could fly to somewhere really far, like Hogsmead, or even better, the other side of the lake. That would be crazy. Galton was sure that Toad would love riding a broom. And if she fell off what could really happen? Cats always land on their feet.

Though Olphie was perplexed, she remained unobservant of most things and thus did not notice the stifled laugh. Instead, she focused her eyes on the shirt creature, waiting for a confirmation that that was actually a cat in there.

When the boy confirmed that the animal was in fact a cat, Olphie couldn't help but stare suspiciously as he held it closer. It meowed like a cat, had ears like a cat, had four legs like a cat...but where was its fur?

Before she could ask, however, the boy's large blue eyes peered from behind the cat and invited her on an adventure. Olphie instinctually wanted to say no, as it would look a bit peculiar for a professor, a student, and a cat to be going on an adventure, but she then thought further. Only a few minutes prior, Olphie had been looking for something to do, for an adventure to go on. This boy and cat were like an answer to her desires.

Olphie presented the boy with a wide, toothy grin and nodded eagerly. "Sure, but a few questions first. What is your name again, dear? What kind of adventure? And most importantly...why is your cat so...naked?"

She accepted! What a day this was. His mind began running through every possibility of what they could do. There were just too many possibilities for him to comprehend, and now he had to answer her questions. No time to day dream now, it was time to live the daydreams.

“My name is Galton Lansdale, Miss Professor Bercegeay!” He did he best to bow still keepIng Toad safe in her T-shirt nest. As he did he became a bit more aware of how cold it was due to exposing some of his belly. Oh well, sacrifices for love.

“Well, we could go and walk around and find monsters to fight! Or we could look for lost treasure, or try to find special ingredients for crazy potions or really yummy food!” He couldn’t speak faster, he had to show that the adventure would be fun.

Galton moved a hand to cup half of his mouth and then looked around. “Don’t worry, if it’s too spooky we have Toad to protect us.” He whispered, trying to make sure someone else wouldn’t overhear.

“And Toad was just born like this, I think.” He looked down at his friend. He wasn’t sure if he should ramble on about why a hairless cat was so appealing and his parents strict pet policy but he thought it best to save that for later.

“But aren’t most cats naked?” He smiled, quite happy with coming up with that.

Olphie couldn't help but chuckle at the bow as boy and cat dipped downward. "Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Landslide," she replied with a half-smirk, "and pleasure to meet Frog, as well. She seems like a very...nice... cat."

Even if the cat was nice, she couldn't help but think that it was rather unfashionable. Again, the cat fashions came back to her, and she couldn't help but wonder if there was anything that would fit this cat. Before she could inquire the details, however, the boy launched into quite the shpiel.

Olphie couldn't help it - she let out a boisterous laugh at the boy's excitement. He reminded her of the twins, Fae and Arnoux. When they were young and she'd return for the summer from Hogwarts, they'd always want to drag her on these elaborate "adventures" that involved slaying dragons and other creatures. Her stories from school had captivated them.

Though the twins were much older than the child before her, Olphie viewed him like a singular version of the two as she extended her hand, smiled, and declared, "Let's do it." She giggled once more when he said the cat would protect them, and murmured, "Ferocious as a lion, he seems."

Gideon channeled her focus back to the cat's lack of hair, and Olphie felt that this was her moment to perform a fashion intervention. "Most cats are naked, yes...but not as obviously so. Do you have anything to keep Platypus warm, dear? Like a little jacket or some boots? He's got to be freezing!"

If the boy answered that he did not, this would be her moment to save this cat and, honestly, Hogwarts. For no one wanted to look at such a bare-skinned feline such as the thing before her. And quite honestly? Olphie wanted to help this cat out because it had been far too long since she had solved a fashion emergency.

Galton had hit the jackpot here. A professor that was going on an adventure with him. It was still setting into his mind as his daring partner answered him. Though, she repeatedly got Toad's name wrong. Was it a hard name? Or was he just not loud enough? No, he was always loud enough. Sometimes his mother had said if he talked too fast and loud it would be hard for anyone to understand. Maybe that was it. Galton needed to correct the situation, but smooth, he had to show Professor Bercegeay he was a totally competent adventurer, eager to begin whatever trouble they got into.

"Well actually, Toad, she's a girl, and umm..." Perfect, Galton had aced the reply so far, now to finish strong. "Well... Sometimes I draw a face on my sock and then put it on Toad's tail and we pretend she's a double-ended newt!" As he talked he got louder and more wild, he was sure she would be impressed, Galton would be.

"I have a sock on right now I can take it off and show you if you'd like!" He lifted one of his feet to show off the sock sticking out of his loafers before losing a bit of his balance and slamming it down, wobbling about before returning to a stable state. He looked down at Toad who just meowed at him. He smiled at Professor Bercegreay.

Olphie stared at the boy, eyes wide and mouth agape, as he explained his form of dressing the cat. She had to put a perfectly-manicured hand to her mouth as she fought the horrified gasp of disgust that so violently wished to escape her mouth. The only thing that prevented her was that she remembered how much her younger siblings loved impressing her, even when it was something as idiotic as a discombobulated gymnastics move.

A long pause preceded her statement as she recomposed herself. When Olphie was ready to speak, she lowered her hand back to its relaxed position against her hip and inquired, "Is it...a nice sock?"

She meant fancy, like a dress sock, but assumed the boy would know what a lady of such high class meant. At the very least, if the animal had a nice sock, she wouldn't feel as bad for it. Hairless, clothless, and the responsibility of an overly enthusiastic, yet clueless boy - the animal led a sad life, honestly.

The fashionista continued: "So, if he only wears socks... doesn't he get cold, dear? The weather is getting quite chilly. I just fear... with so little hair, Tiger is bound to freeze to death. Do you need help ensuring he stays warmth?"

Though she still found the situation quite ridiculous, Olphie let out a gentile smile as she gazed upon the boy, waiting for his reply.
