The Clear Difference Between Cats and Wolves
interacting w/ @Kyle DeRook
Gem had been thrown off of Rook as quickly as he had him down, a wheezing mix of laughter and a pained hiss managing its way out the back of his throat. He was floored for a lingering second, but he'd gotten himself up nice and quick so the other boy couldn't kick him right in the stomach-- his ribs were burning, but he couldn't stop smiling. This was about the most fun he'd had since... well, forever.
"You bet yer ass I'll give ya my worst!" He didn't wait much longer to flog towards Kyle again, using his fist to knock him right in the nose, just like what he had done to him, using all his might. Well, maybe not all of it, but enough for it to hurt - this kid's bones were made of steel or something, it was like nothing really knocked him off his balance. Maybe he was made of steel, or maybe he was just... good at being stoic. He didn't have too much time to dote on it, since he was trying to avoid losing any teeth today - still, it was nice to have someone he didn't have to hold back with, that was pretty... unique, he supposed.
He was already trying to get Kyle down on the ground again, so he gave him a nice Glasgow kiss, right in the face again. He used his hands to grip his shoulders, attempting to get Rook right on the ground so he was on top and had the power again. He knew he wasn't gonna win, but it was nice to know he didn't go down without a fight, right? He was so screwed.

Gem got back to his feet and squared off with him once more. Kyle was excited that not only was he willing to go along with the initial punch but he has taken the rest of the fight in flow as it happened. This Gem guy was alright. Their next move was rushing forward once more and this time he grabbed onto Kyle's shoulders and tried to force him down to the ground once again, but this time Kyle was ready for him. Being taller and stronger than his opponent Gem was unable to force Kyle to the ground, This however did not stop him from delivering the sharp Glasgow kiss right to his nose. He heard a crunch and while he didn't know if it was broken or not, he could definately feel the blood already running down his face. Kyle stagger back a step and ran the back of his hand across his face to wipe up some of the blood but despite what hollywood would lead you to think, the nose bled ALOT when struck like that.
Kyle surged forward, lifting his left hand up high as if to pull Gem's attention toward it while his right hand balled into a fist and pulled back down towards his waist. As he stepped in Kyle would attempt to grab hold of the area where Gem's shoulder met his neck, while at the same time he attempted to drive his fist into the other boys gut, hoping to double him over and knock the wind out of him.
Despite the sour mood he was in at the start of the day, he was having a blast now. Who didn't love a good Scuff up?

Gem wasn't sure if his skull had broken, or if he had snapped Kyle's nose. When he finally got the chance to stumble back, he noticed the waterfall of blood spewing out of his friend's nose, running down his lips and chin like death. His eyes were wide, but the flatness of Rook's expression struck more fear in him than anything else. He couldn't give a damn that his face was broken, he didn't even look hurt.
Still, if he wanted to keep going, he would. He took the bait, looking up when Kyle's hand lifted up high and threatening. He almost expected him to crack a fist down on top of his head, but he felt a sharp punch into his stomach, instead. He stumbled back, a miserable mix between a wheeze and a yelp coughing out of his throat. He keeled over, wrapping both of his hands around his stomach. He'd call uncle, but he was too busy scraping up his throat for air. He felt real tears well up in his eyes, the thought of a bruise right in the middle of his belly making him feel... indescribable. He needed to throw up, he swore he was gonna be sick, all of the tension and hotness making him panic. He did end up throwing up, right on the floor.
He lost his dignity a long time ago, but this was to an entirely new level. It was nice that he caught his breath, and now that he'd gotten rid of today's breakfast, he felt... better. He brought himself back up with wobbly knees, weighing out his options for what he could possibly do to try and redeem himself. His shoulders were hung all low, the blood that had long since dried out staining his skin, and there was still more, fresh, coming out, getting all over his clothes. He had just the right amount of strength to deliver a right blow before he was inevitably stomped out by Kyle's hand.
Right there, with a shit-eating grin on his face, Gem was able to uppercut Rook with a shaky fist. He took a few steps back right afterwards, his knees shaking like a cold, old dog, the skin on his knuckles all skinned and bruised. He felt dirty, gross, and horrible, but there was a sickly sweet satisfaction in there. Maybe Kyle liked this because he was unbeatable, but Gem liked it because it gave him a sort of rush he never expected to have before. It was good, he'd almost fallen in love with it. He licked his bottom lip, which had busted thanks to Kyle's iron fist, and tasted his own salty blood. Sour like satisfaction.

As the blow crushed into Gem's stomach almost felt bad, almost. Gem staggered back and Kyle noticed from the sounds he was making that Kyle had managed to knock the wind out of his friend. Moments later Gem doubled over and vomited what remained of his breakfast and Kyle knew he had managed to land that blow just right, it was a hit he himself had taken in the past and he knew it was not a pleasant one to receive. Despite this not only Did Gem not go down, or tap out, or even cry and moan. He straightened up and had a look of determination and excitement going on. This was a look Kyle himself wore whenever he got into a good fight like this, and it had been too long since he had gotten his blood boiling.
As gem moved in once again Kyle went as well, though he was not expecting the uppercut that followed and it struck under his chin hard, he could hear his teeth connect from the blow and some skin from either the inside of his lip of cheek was caught between the teeth as they met and he felt himself bite off a bit of meat and soon the familiar taste of blood was on his tongue as well as his lips from his possibly broken nose. Kyle staggered back from the blow and turned his head to the side to spit out some blood before he looked back towards Gem.
Kyle moved forward on increasingly heavy legs before he pulled back and threw one final punch, a right handed haymaker towards Gems face. Kyle had put his whole body behind the blow and his leaden legs failed him so he would go down himself after the punch before rolling over onto his back and letting out an exhausted chuckle as he tried to catch his breath. His face was bruised and bloody, his knuckles were red and scraped, and his face and shirt was covered in blood. All in all, this was a good time.
"Yer...Alright...Smolach" he said between breaths before he chuckled and it turned into a cough near the end

@Kyle DeRookIt wasn't at all that Gem hadn't expected a punch in the face, but one that hard? He felt like he was going to pass the fuck out. His ears were ringing, right when his hands flew to his face, covering up his bleeding mouth. He'd been floored, then, huddled up in a fetal position with his face in his hands, all red and violently stinging. It hurt so much that he almost didn't feel anything, sort of like when something is so cold, it burns.
He was shocked he even got a little bit of the end of what Rook had said, something about him being all right? He sure hoped so, and as fun as this was, it was difficult to talk without choking on his own thick, bloody, red, mess. He forced himself to sit up a bit, spitting whatever saliva and blood collected in his mouth out on the ground-- a few times, actually. The very last thing he needed was to throw up again.
"Ehm... fanks, y- ugh, you too," He sniffed, cringing when he felt any of the blood splatter in the back of his throat, getting to the back of his tongue. "Uh..." He pressed his lips together, blinking real harshly due to the fact that his left eye seemed to have a staggering need to be nice and sore. How was he even gonna explain this to the nurses?
"That was fun, kinda," He stuck his finger in his mouth, feeling around to see if he'd lost any teeth-- so far, so good. "We should do 'is again, sometime. Yunno, bondin', or whatever. Gettin' rage out, haha." It was a forced sort of laugh, but he'd scooted over next to his new friend, holding a hand out to shake. "Friends?"

Kyle lay flat on his back and he stared at the clouds. His face and body ached, he knew was bleeding and bruised. He wasn't worried about an explanation for the nurse, after all he was a beater. That means he had an easy way out, just blame it on taking a beating from a bludger that he clearly was not prepared for dealing with today. He was sure that his scraped knuckles could also fall under injuries sustained while fighting and fleeing an aggressive wild bludger. Worst case scenario they didn't buy it and he got detention...again. which really wasn't all that bad honestly.
Kyle then noticed Gem talking next to him. Saying it was fun and they should do it again, a way to blow off steam. Kyle was glad to finally find someone at this school who saw that fighting could be fun and didn't mean you couldn't be friends with the person you were fighting. This Gem Kid was alright. He lifted himself up on his elbows and looked at Gem, cocking an eyebrow. With a chuckle he extended his hand as well and gave the other boy a firm handshake. "Yeah Smolach. Were Mates. Lemme know if ya ever need someone to watch yer back, yeah?" he lay back flat once again with a heavy sigh. the grass was oddly comfortable and the sounds of the lake were really relaxing. Kyle Closed his eyes and took a deep breath. This was nice.

@Kyle DeRook
As much as Gem felt his body burn, ache, and crack, (he felt like he was eighty years old) a warm fuzz of accomplishment was able to make him smile, especially when Rook held his hand out and shook it. He'd made a new friend, and if he paid any good attention to stereotypes, a loyal one.
"Not that ya need me help, but if you ever... do, need someone ta do yer homework for ya, then let me know." He sighed, rubbing his face with his hands, dirty with mud, grime, and his own bodily fluids. Yuck.
He sat still and quiet for about five minutes, up until it got a bit boring waiting for something else to happen-- not only that, but the stinging pain in... every part of his body was getting sort of unbearable. He reached around, rubbing his lower back, trying to keep it from cramping or getting tense. The worst part of a fight, playful or not, was recovering, no matter how fun and nice it was to remember the energy it once held. He'd be limping from class to class for a week, if he was lucky.
"Right, laa, I'm goin' ta head out," He grunted, pushing himself off the ground painfully. "I had fun. F' ya ever wanna do this again, ya know where ta find me. I'll see ya around, yeh?" He clapped Rook on the back with a reassuring grin, and wobbled his way back to the Ravenclaw common room.
Gem has left the thread.
