closed Hi!

Hi Pheonix,

How did you come to England all the way from Shanghai? is wizarding culture very different in Shanghai? and what do you eat in the family meal? So many questions, I know, but I've really never been anywhere but the UK. Do you speak Chinese?

Chess sounds fun! I like to play occasionally, but I never win, my brothers are just too good. Who do you play with?

Classes do sound interesting -- I'm just worried that they'll be too much, and all the studying in the world might not be able to help. I'm really looking forward to Transfiguration though, it'll be brilliant to finally learn real spells. It's so tempting to use my wand and spellbooks preemptively! I've been reading a bit ahead, but nothing really makes sense yet. I suppose that's probably why there's classes. Potions sounds a bit more boring to me though; I get that they're useful, but it seems like there's fairly minimal explanation for anything, just do this, do that, don't experiment. What do you like about Transfiguration and Potions? are there any classes you dislike?

It's been great weather this summer so far! I've been playing a lot of football, and trying to perfect my handstands and cartwheels. So far I can balance on my hands but not quite walk yet. I think once I can reliably do the handstands, I'll move onto juggling. My brothers are all wrapped up in their own lives this summer, I guess to study, and mum says I have to leave them alone, so it's been a little bit lonely.

How did you get to be a camp counselor? that sounds like a lot of work, but I hope you're having fun with it!

until next time,
Lydia
