| xxx | The duel was gradually progressing, and while the lions had managed to gouge a significant dent in the Ravenclaw's defense, the birds were finally managing to catch the wind and soar upon it. Despite their coordinated efforts to debuff and distract Eden, it wasn't quite enough for Meenauh to land a solid hit against him. Shrapnel and splinters flew, snagging his robes, but only in a glancing manner. Still, with him focused on that, he evidently wasn't prepared for the crackers that Evelynn had lobbed towards the two boys. The radiance of the blast caught them squarely, drawing a self-assured smile from the lioness even as she pirouetted deftly out of the way of the Conjunctivitis Curse cast in return fire. They were whitling down, though not quite as quickly as the redhead might have liked, and they were catching on in their own way. She was just settling into a balanced position again as smoke seemed to spread from the opposite side of the piste. Movement was marked from Aida's position and a sidelong glance cast to her own teammates immediately before she found herself swallowed by a gray impenetrable haze. Wetting her lips, she squinted through the fog, trying to make out the shadowy movements of friend and foe, ears straining for a hint of what was next to come. |

Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw: Match 2
Aida squirmed, uncomfortable both with the enduring claustrophobic crush as well as the intolerable boredom of being unable to contribute to the match. Finally the wix was able to get out, but it was not clear to them if it was because of their own maneuver or because of a weakening of the spell.

Damion was eager to win the match however he didn't wanna jinx it at all and lose at the last moment. The match was going as he had thought of it at this point of time. He wanted to be a good captain for now and he kept glancing at his team mates. He wanted his house to do well and win. He was able to cast his spell perfectly despite being hit by the opponents spell.

It was comforting to see the fog roll in around him. No one would be able to see the flash of embarrassment he'd show as Meenauh got hit with a spell after his avis. It had been a while since he had been on the receiving end of a nebulus, but the familiar feeling of relief was quick to soothe the bubbling nerves. The duel was far from over, But Galton could see their next step forward - even if the end was heavily obscured in fog.

Alive and thriving, Cassius was no longer bound by the restraints of paralysis to stand by an inactive bystander as Damion suffered the brunt of the attacks. He could finally begin to return the favor.

Ravenclaw continued to be bogged down by the lions' attacks. Aida finally made some progress on the cords that bound their arms. As they pushed against the bindings, they began to feel them loosen slightly. Unfortunately, the bird was hit again by the same spell, this time originating from Galton. They felt the bindings tighten once more, and they weren't the only one hit. Cords also conjured around Cassius' arms, restricting him from casting anything. Before that, Evelynn and Cassius exchanged Blasting Curses, and the Gryffindor's was on target, striking at the feet of both Cassius and Damion. Cassius' missed the slippery lion but splinters flying from the exploded piste still managed to catch on Evelynn's skin, slicing in just enough to bleed. Damion, now free of the golden mist, felt the dizziness fade away. He focused on producing a blinding ball of light over the heads of the lions. As long as he kept concentrating on the spell, the Gryffindor team would find it hard to see their opponents. Finally, Meenauh turned her wand on herself, bathing herself in the glow of a healing spell that also alleviated the swelling of her eyes and prevented potential disaster for her in the next bout of spell slinging.

The quick Reparifors and she felt the damned pain in the eyes fading out until she could see again.
And what she saw was a couple of big explosions hitting the birds nastily. And on top of that the cords from Galton's wand, perfectly placed onto Cassius (she was not sorry, he was a killing machine), and poor Aida, who had just seemed to be getting released from the tight grip.

As Meenauh healed herself and both Evelynn and Galton got off a pair of beautifully split and aimed spells, the sixth year had to admire—even through the wincing of sustained nicks and a warm trickling of blood courtesy of shrapnel from a nearby explosion ("Surely you can do better than that," she had taunted @Cassius Eden)—how their teamwork really seemed to be coming together. She couldn't recall any other duel being quite so dynamically approached with such a variety of offensive, defensive and environmental control spells. Whether it was luck or the endless hours they had all put in to practice, Evelynn couldn't be certain; but what she did know for sure was that it just wouldn't be quite the same once her two teammates graduated at the end of the school year. Then the flash of blinding light cut off her string of thoughts, hand lifting to shield her eyes against the affront. Her tongue clicked against the back of her teeth, the corner of her mouth curling faintly. "That will not protect you," she remarked melodically. |

One of Valentin's friends was a big strong guy -- Romeo, wasn't it? A bit more than friends, wasn't it? At times like these, Aida thought of how nice it must be to have a friend like that. Perhaps Valentin was three times stronger than Aida, but they were both delicate by comparison. It was a pity that duelling wouldn't allow help from people like that, Aida figured. Instead it was always a rather dull struggle for the perpetually thin wizard. So that is all Aida did, squirming like a bug in a web.

His love for dueling was fueled by casts like this. Honed aim and practiced incanting skills combined to trap his opponents. Add in the success of his teammates to the picture and it was crystal clear why they'd been practicing so hard. A moment to show the cumulative effort of his time at Hogwarts. And he couldn't help but sprout a small smile as Evelynn exchanged remarks with the Ravens.
