"Arh, I didn't realize we were going to have to be studying physics at this magic academy." he sighed, falling back and stretching out on one of the large wooden pews that made up the spectators stands.
He watched the clouds float dreamily by in the afternoon sky, soaking in the heat of one of the last few warm days of early October.

He and Elz had had the idea of studying outside, the thought had occurred to the two, that perhaps the wild forest air and sun would kick their tired brains into gear as they struggled through two particularly tough Transfiguration essays.

"I swear Professor Lian's like the hardest marker here... It's always the coolest teachers who end up marking really hard. She's so nice and fun and then you get your grades back and it's like being kicked in the teeth." he rolled over and scanned the Quiddich pitch. He noticed a small pile of practice brooms, perhaps left there from an afternoon class or a team practice...

He sat up with a devilish grin slowly developing across his face, and closed the huge leather-bound tome which was in no way going to be read for the remainder of the afternoon.

"You ever played Quiddich before, Elz? I kinda liked flying but I haven't tried tossing around a ball yet."
He said getting to his feet, "Look its Friday afternoon, we've got the rest of the weekend to hide in the Library and finish these essays... let's goof off for like an hour... and then I pinky promise we'll get back to it..."

He'd already started his way down toward the practice brooms, a wide grin on his face.

It was a nice day out, perfect for studying lord knows Elzabeth needs it. She had gotten a not so good grade on a paper for Transfiguration, a class she had heard from many wouldn't get any easier throughout the year.

Thankfully James seemed to agree so they decided a study day might benefit both of them.

"I swear Professor Lian's like the hardest marker here... It's always the coolest teachers who end up marking really hard. She's so nice and fun and then you get your grades back and it's like being kicked in the teeth."

Elzabeth laughed, she couldn't agree more. The first time she did the homework she was quite comfortable with it but as soon as she got her grade back it was obvious she would need help with this subject.

"Tell me about it, I haven't been so confident and so wrong in a paper ever." She muttered, looking out over the Scottish hills. She looked down at her notes briefly, reading over some parts that seemed to confuse her. She looked up with the intention of asking James but instead got sidetracked with the mischevious grin spreading across James' face.

"You ever played Quiddich before, Elz? I kinda liked flying but I haven't tried tossing around a ball yet. Elzabeth had no say in the matter, James was already up and walking towards the pitch. Elzabeth huffed and got up. As much as she would love to sit and study, James was right, they needed a break.

"I haven't actually. My father played a while ago but I've never actually thought about taking it on myself." In all honesty Elzabeth staid away from sports in fear of breaking something. She was already dainty enough as it was, breaking something would be so easy for her.

Elzabeth caught up to James, smiling with anticipation. "What about you? Are you any good?" She asked, looking down at the brooms.

"What about you, are you any good?" Elz said as James sprinted across the field.

"I have no idea!" he called out over his shoulder, "There's only one way to find out!"

He skidded to a halt in front of the pile of discarded practice brooms. Many of the wizard-born kids had complained about their quality. The speed and responsiveness were all off according to them. James didn't care, he didn't have anything to compare it to and the though of soaring through the skies, even if it was on a slow and unresponsive piece of cleaning equipment, captured his imagination like nothing else in the school had yet.

He stretch out a hand above the ramshackle pile and commanded the broom into his hand, just as he'd been taught by Professor Bercegeay. The thick wooden shaft smacked into his hand and he mounted the broom without a second thought. He soared up into the air, the air immediately began to cool and the ice bite of the Scottish afternoon made him feel so... alive. His stomach lagged behind a little at first as his body got used to moving around in three dimensional space.

He tried soaring along past the bleachers and yelled out an exclamation of joy as he felt the rush of watching the world stream past him.

"Come on slow poke!" he called out to his earth-bound friend, "Bet you a Sickle you can't get the ball past me into that goal!"

Elzabeth watched in amusement as her friend stopped by the pile of brooms, sometimes James came up with the strangest things.
"Come on slowpoke!" he called out to his earth-bound friend, "Bet you a Sickle you can't get the ball past me into that goal!"
Oh, so they were betting money now. "You're on!" Elzabeth laughed, running down the hill to try and catch up with the flying boy. If her father played shes bound to have some quidditch blood in her right? This shouldn't be so hard.

She looked up at James, who had already mounted his broom and was soaring over the Quidditch pitch. Her mom would kill her if she saw what she was planning on doing.

Elzabeth reached her hand down and commanded the broom like she was taught to do. The broom shot up and into her open palm. Quickly she got on, stuffing down the thoughts in her head that told her to get off, and kicked the ground.

She soared up, shakily grasping the wood. She looked back at James who seemed to be having the time of his life. "Whats the words that could happen?" She asked herself, putting on a determined smile.

She raced towards James, enjoying the feeling a moment before slowing so she wouldn't hit him. Thank god she had put her hair up today.

"Let me warn you, I don't ride brooms very often so don't laugh if I make a fool out of myself." Elzabeth joked.

James swooped around and hovered just above Elz, yelling back down to her in response.

"Neither have I, this is my third time! So zero judgement here." he leaned down and scooped an old practice Quaffle up in his hand. The old leather, peeling slightly from years of use and abuse felt good in his hand.

"I honestly don't know that much about Quidditch. My Dad became obsessed when my family first found out I was a wizard, but I sort of got more caught up in everything else, y'know? So I didn't get much time to learn about it. But I kinda got more interest in it when we started flying lessons."

He blushed slightly as he zig-zagged lazily through the air, "Never, ever tell any of the others this... especially not Gem or Charlotte... but I have a tiny bit of a crush on Professor Bercegeay." his face went a dark shade of crimson and he shot off to the other side of the field and tried to weave his way around the stands, as he held tightly to the heavy leather ball and then shot back to Elz.

"Ok... ok... now I've told you my darkest secret... you've got to tell me if there's any Professors you find super hot." he blushed as he threw the Quaffle to Elz.

Elzabeth watched in amusement as her friend flew around the pitch after confessing his crush on one of their professors. Professor Bercegeay was cute, Elzabeth could definitely see it but those thoughts would never leave her head.
"Ok... ok... now I've told you my darkest secret... you've got to tell me if there's any Professors you find super hot."
Elzabeth laughed and caught the quaffle he had sent her way, her cheeks turned a light shade of pink as she thought about her options. Her charms professor was quite the looker, on the other hand, she also didn't mind the herbology teacher either.

"I guess Professor Vernatis, he's just very charming no pun intended." Elzabeth laughed, blushing a deeper shade of pink. She had never really talked to him but from the way he spoke to the other teachers and students it was clear, he wasn't a horrible person.

To distract herself from thinking any more about the Professor, she flew a bit away from James to get a clear view of the three hoops.

"How do you want to play this?" She asked, looking down at him, a teasing smile on her face. From what little experience she had, she knew how to fly one haded but throwing and catching was a whole different story. It seemed like Elzabeth was going to have to figure thoes things out and figure them out quick.
