@Logan BairdHe really didn't know what to say to that. Her confusion almost appalled him in a way, making him feel rather confused himself because how could she even say that? How could she be so...bloody nice?
"You're kidding right?" he questioned. Giving her a squinted look of disbelief before it sobered up, "you're not kidding." he deadpanned, brain struggling to catch up with this newsflash.
She didn't know.
"Well," he began dryly, voice pained as if explaining something so obvious, "you could say that," he snorted, still feeling rather bitter about the whole thing even now. It wasn't his fault the twins grandparents were evil incarnate. He'd simply gotten rid of suck ups that had no problem lying to his face because of who his family was.
"I have a history with...bad friends."
More like a history of becoming said bad friend when he chased off the kids he found out were just hanging out because their parents forced them or because of his things.
"Honestly, I'm surprised you'd be alright with being friends," he admitted wryly, "you're much nicer than me and I'd just about thought you hated me after how angry you'd been." he snickered, remembering the dirty look she'd given him, "you really have an impressive glare. You almost match my mother."
"Terrifying really."

Logan looked at Elsian with a questionable look but a smile still on her face. "I don't see you as being a friends with anybody with a bad reputation." The Hufflepuff stated. Honestly she had thought that he was a wonderful person and could never imagine him being mean to others. She could never imagine being mean to someone but she did know she had a temper on her sometimes. Whenever the Gryffindor mentioned her glare she giggled.
"I have managed to master that glare over the years. I have two younger brothers who are identical twins, I need the glare to be able to keep the two in line or to be able to tell them apart." Logan thought about all of the times that Alexander would snap under her glare and admit that they were lying about something or who they were. She giggled slightly at the two 8 year old boys that were currently with her aunt.
"My aunt doesn't have a scary enough glare to get them to behave, so I kinda have to be able to control them." Logan giggled at the thought of what trouble the two of them were causing at this point, knowing they had probably destroyed part of the house by now. The Hufflepuff shook her head a little bit and looked at Elsian. "I bet you only get a glare like that when you are in trouble," she stated simply. The brunette had been talking long enough that her accent had become thicker and clearly noticeable against her normal soft voice.

@Logan BairdHe scoffed gently at the others words. Him not being friends with those sorts was exactly the reason he had a rough reputation with some of the other kids back home.
Elsian blinked when the other mentioned her brothers, eyes squinting slightly as he imagined the Hufflepuff giving the two boys that glare only for them to shrivel up under the scrutiny of it. He snickered at the thought, easily seeing the picture with how he'd been on the receiving end not too long ago.
"It sounds to me," he drawled, shoving his bangs away from his face, "like you won't have much of a home to return to for the holidays." he joked, thinking of the mischief painted picture she'd given him. The moment however she turned the topic on him he turned his gaze away, biting back the urge to preen about his misdeeds feeling as if looking her in the eyes would reveal all times his mum had scolded him back home.
Really...she wasn't wrong.
Would he ever admit that?
No. No he would not.
"Not really..." he said, giving the other girl a smile. "I'm an angel according to my aunt, so obviously that means I'm perfect. " he chirped. "My mother must give me that look because she's so jealous of her perfect son." he finished, giving an exaggerated look of loss.
"The burdens of perfection." he sighed.
She was a drunkard half the time but that was besides the point.

Logan laughed as Elsian spoke of himself as being a perfect child. "I highly doubt that you are a perfect child, but lets go with that," she simple stated as she looked at the Gryffindor in front of her. She smiled softly as she thought about all of the trouble he probably got into as a child, "Honestly, if anyone is a perfect child it would be me, but you can always think that you are," Logan jokingly stated. The Hufflepuff thought about all the times she got in trouble as a child, which wasn't often, but was often enough that she could never be considered a perfect child.
The first memory she can remember is when she accidentally threw the family cat out the window. Even though she hadn't meant to because is was her first use of magic, she did get scolded and wasn't allowed dessert for two days.
Logan glanced down at the little bat that she had in her arms, "My aunt doesn't have the correct glare to be able to get my little brothers to listen so I kind of had to develop my own." Her aunt was always too nice to everyone and even hated yelling at Logan's younger brothers for anything. The brunette missed her brothers and her eyes dropped slightly at the fact that she would be missing their birthday this year and wouldn't be able to buy them any presents until she got back. They would definitely be mad at her for that.

@Logan Baird"How painfully honesty of you," he snorted, leaning away slightly and giving the other a wry look, "and so very sure of yourself." he said, giving the girl a slightly disbelieving look when she declared herself the true perfect child.
He felt the mood sway slightly as Logan looked at her new bat, speaking of her family. He had to fight back the frown trying to worm itself onto his lips, obviously the Hufflepuff was feeling a bit homesick or something of the like. He couldn't really relate but even he knew how hard it could be to adapt.
"Is that who the letters for, your aunt?" he asked, gesturing to the letter he'd seen her reading through. He was still a bit surprised they'd finally met back up in the owlery, especially seeing as how this was one of the rarer places he went.
He'd personally not really sent many letters to his parents or anyone back home like some of the other students. It'd really surprised him the first time he's realized just how many of the students and their families sent letters like some sort of clockwork. One of his housemates seemed to have some sort of letter every week! It was sorta baffling really. And over the top in his opinion.

Logan smiled and laughed slightly at Elsian's mention of her being so full of herself. Honestly she had never been a perfect child, always making small mistakes here and there. She could see straight through the fact that he didn't think she was perfect at all, and that fact that she had been so blunt surprised even herself.
When he mentioned the letter to her aunt she smiled slightly and pulled the letter back out of her bag. "Yeah," she mumbled slightly. "This will actually be the first letter I have sent home since the beginning of the term. I just haven't really had time between classes and homework," she stated simply as she thought about the contents of the letter.
"My brothers turned 8 last week. I completely forgot to send a letter home wishing them a happy birthday and they got angry. I got a letter yesterday about how much they have been complaining about how I forgot about them," she mumbled to herself as she thought about how angry they would be when she got home for the summer. She could already imagine them setting up pranks in her room and moving everything around, just to get back at her for missing their birthday.
"I decided to send a letter to my aunt, just to wish them Happy Birthday and Happy Holidays seeing as I will not be home to take part in our normal holiday traditions." Logan simply stated as she looked back up Elsian. She hoped that he wouldn't think of her as a bad person for completely forgetting her brothers birthday, but she had been working hard so that she would be able to impress her father with her wizarding skills.

Feeling Batty
@Logan BairdHe snorted half disbelieving half amused at the thought of such a fuss over a birthday. His parents had never been too big on the whole thing, well...more like his family in general besides his aunt but the madwoman...really couldn't count for anything. She was far to unpredictable and weird to compare to the rest of his relatives.
Then again, other families had different traditions and such so his family probably seemed just as odd to other houses...still birthdays seemed so...odd to make a big deal over! It just seemed so silly! He kept the thought to himself knowing how 'excited' others could get when holidays were brought up, instead focusing on the bit about how the other would actually be staying during the holidays.
It surprised him to say the least. She seemed like the type to celebrate if the previous talk on her family was anything to go by.
"You're staying?" he blurted out, eyes narrowing at the other in confusion, "I thought for sure you'd be one of the types to celebrate with your family."
'Unlike him' he mused to himself, grimacing internally at the thought of being stuck at the annual Christmas Gala. He'd very much rather stay here and sleep thank you very much. He gave the other a small frown, thinking about just how close it really was to the holidays and really, it made sense he supposed. Any student going home typically wouldn't be sending letters home right before leaving...
"Guess that explains why you're still here. No offence." he said, not bothering to hide his surprise.

Logan looked down to the ground with a sigh as the mention of not going home to celebrate the holidays with her family. She started to pick at the sleeves of her sweater again as she started to speak. "My father thought it best that I stay here and continue my studies. He thought I would be too distracted at home with my brothers," she mumbled as she continued to stare at the ground and play with the sleeves of her sweater.
The small Hufflepuff thought about all of the Christmas parties her father would have to go to, and the fact that she wouldn't have to go with him for any of them. She smiled at the thought of him complaining about not having an excuse to leave anymore.
"Are you going home to spend the holidays with your family?" Logan questioned as she looked up at the Gryffindor in front of her. She really did not want all of the attention on her anymore, so she assumed that asking the boy a question would get him to start talking. She continued to play with her sleeves, a clear indicator that she was nervous about something and didn't know what to do about it.
The sound of the owls around her distracted her from the fact that her father did not want her home for the holidays and she knew the real reason was because he missed her mother. Logan allowed her hair to fall in front of her face slightly as a cool breeze blew through the owlery. With it being winter, the weather was colder around the area, and Logan could feel it seeping through her sweater.

@Logan Baird"No, never have." he answered honestly, "we don't celebrate unless its for the charities or parties my parents have to go to." His nose wrinkled at the thought it.
It might have been fine if the household were around but they always left closer to the holidays so he'd already have missed them by the time he got home. A shame since he actually enjoyed decorating with the household while his parents were gone but since they'd be gone already...no point. He'd just be stuck at the household until inevitably being dragged to the Gala.
Which for any sane kid his age was a hard pass if given the choice.
He'd much rather sleep in.
He'd actually purposely failed a test and done horrible on a few assignments just so he could stay and avoid the holidays back home. Mother had sent a howler after him which had been utterly horrifying since he'd been half asleep when he opened it without thinking but in the end? Worth it. So very worth the scolding and slight heart attack.
"I prefer being here really." he sniffed, enjoying the cold air brushing against his face.
"The closest thing I'll be doing to celebrating is the errands most likely since they need help decorating the halls," he sighed thinking about how he'd been practically threatened to help by his newest friend, "maybe make a decoration since a certain housemate of mine keeps saying I have to." said friend being the culprit...
Annoying since said girl just wanted to see the aftermath when she returned from the holidays. She wouldn't even be helping.

The small Hufflepuff sighed and shook her head, "My family normally holds a large Christmas party. My father invites some coworkers from the Ministry and they spend the night chatting." Logan stated simply as she looked over as an owl swooped in and landed on one of the perches. She smiled softly, excited for whenever she would have the money to buy an owl of her own and not have to use one of the school ones anymore.
The Hufflepuff couldn't imagine spending the holidays alone, better yet, not celebrating at all. She had always spent holidays with her family, either at a party or just in the drawing room of the house in front of the fire place reading.
"Does your family have any holiday traditions at all?" Logan questioned as she pulled her sweater closer to herself. The wind had started to pick up slightly, causing a shiver to go through the small witch. She thought about all of the traditions her family used to have and all of the new ones that they created now that her aunt lived with them.
"My family normally would set the tree up together and each of us would open one of our presents up on Christmas eve. That way, us children would be satisfied and wouldn't want to wake up early to see Santa." Logan explained as she pushed some of her hair out of her face.
The small girl smiled at the thought of when she would get to choose a present of her choice on Christmas Eve and open it so that she would actually sleep that night. She would always be so excited when it was magic related, better yet, space related.
