History/Background Story:
Pre-First Year
Carl is short for his age and incredibly thin, his father credits that to his fast metabolism. His skin is fair and he is hardly athletic, this is due to him spending a lot of time reading. Carl carries himself as an observer, his face at times is neutral but he tends to read the situation before he decides to engage be it socializing or taking direct action. Carl enjoys reading and also likes meeting new people.
Carl could have sworn that growing up to a mother who served as a Barrister who practiced tax law and a father who was a well-respected economist that his life would be normal. His parents tended to worry about standard things such as limiting his TV time, encouraging reading, and feeding his curiosity. There was another thing that stressed them out and that was whenever aunt Susan came to visit. Her mother loved her younger sister dearly but even Carl knew that his aunt was a bit of an eccentric.
When he got old enough to realize that she was different he became bold and asked his mother what Aunt Susan did. "Well dear aunt Susan is an artist and lives that kind of lifestyle," he said dismissively. Despite her difference, Carl always looked forward to her visits, in a sense his aunt was his best friend.
Things were normal until he was nine when he woke up in the front lawn, the security system at their home reported no open doors in the middle of the night. At ten he literally fell through his wall (without making a hole but as if the wall was liquid,) and into the bathroom next door. At 11 an owl flew through an open window and dropped a letter on their kitchen table. It was an invitation to go to a special school but the name came off as a bit of gibberish. His mother took the letter seriously and within 24 hours Aunt Susan arrived. They had a family meeting in which they sat him down and told the secret history of his mother's and Aunt Susan's childhood.
At first, Carl could not believe it but then everything seemed to add up. The following weeks seemed to pass quickly before his Aunt Susan arrived to take him on a small trip to Diagon Alley.

Geoffrey Edwards (The Father)
Geoffrey is mousey in appearance but holds a personality that is larger than life. Geoffrey and Carl were always close. He is the source of Carl’s curiosity and his desperate need to expand his knowledge. He grew up without any siblings in Hogwarts so he is clueless compared to his wife Margaret.
Margaret Edwards (The Mother)
Margaret was one of four children and only one of her siblings was abnormal. Regardless, she always was incredibly close to her sister Susan. Margaret is affectionate and at times overly protective of Carl. Carl at times finds himself smothered by his mother who is overly concerned with his wellbeing. They are close but when he’s up to no good he learned to be secretive on his actions and learned to let his dad find out before his mom. Margaret is known to be the disciplinarian of the family.
Auntie Susan (The Witch in the Family)
Susan has always been eccentric, but Carl always adored her. Something about her completely disrupted the normal routine of things whenever she came to visit. Their relationship has grown closer upon Carl’s admittance to Hogwarts.
