When Eira exited the Entrance Hall, the courtyard was empty of the usual student body. Granted, it was two in a very hot afternoon, and most of her classmates were either congregating in their common room for a cooler area to take their break or in the library to do their homework.

Eira, however, took to brooding in the open air, tapping her wand to her palm. Her eyes studied the outlines of the trees that were just a stone's throw away from where she stood. Normally, she would be wandering off through the dungeons or practicing her charms in the secret area she stumbled upon- but the whispers she heard from higher year Slytherins piqued her interest in the Off Limits area.

It's not that she delighted in breaking rules, she was adamant on following them the best as she could after all (not allotting the places she had been stalking about), but they had mentioned that there's a herd of thestrals living in the Forbidden Forest and even unicorns.

While she is definitely not aiming to continue the Cravensworth family's business of magical beast husbandry, her interest in the elusive creature rivals her fascination with snakes and their magical serpentine counterparts.

But... how shall she approach this?

While she had learned a handful of defensive spells and handy charms, there is no telling what she will encounter in the dangerous place. There's a known centaur colony residing there, but as far as she had gathered, they are not very welcoming towards wizards, no matter their intention.

Plus, she can't even see the bloody thestrals now, can she?

She had read that thestrals pull the carriage at Hogwarts, but she has yet to see a hair or hoof in the grounds. When she read her curriculum, she didn't have Care of Magical Creatures class til third year so asking a professor was a no-go.

And the requirement to see them... she shivered. The thought of death always made her fear her own mortality, a pinch of anxiety scratching her mind when the topic of death was brought up. It was bad to the point that she declined going to her own grandfather's funeral when she was 6, even in the insistence of her father. Her absence from the event lessened her cousins' favor for her after that.

Such a complex notion, given that her own wand's core was a thestral's hair. The same wand that won't perform as perfectly on defensive spells as it ought to.

Maybe Mr. Ollivander made a mistake on his assessment?

Nope, no. The subject to focus on right now is entering the Forbidden Forest and seeing what the fuss is about. If she's lucky, she might be able to see a unicorn at least.

Walking to one of the stone benches near the fountain, Eira grabbed a spare parchment from her satchel and began to draft a plan.

Harvey was reluctant to leave the Slytherin dormitory for many reasons. Mostly, all of his personal belongings were tucked away in his room and the boy had a weak spot for his possessions. He liked to look at and polish all the shiny metals and reorganize an already neat trunk and wardrobe. The way the fabrics felt in his hand and the smell of the expensive leathers always brought him peace. A yearning for material objects that one day might spell his doom, but for now just a harmless fascination. Plus Harvey was most at peace sitting in his reading chair with a new book or one of his textbooks. What need was there to go outside? Well, the goblin DNA flowing through his blood had no problem toiling away in the dungeons, but his human side craved some fresh air and sunlight. Though leaving the cool air of Hogwarts' underbelly to replace it with the summer heat was not ideal, the boy was feeling a bit cooped up and needed to stretch his legs.

As the castle doors opened to the courtyard, Harvey would take a moment to scan the horizon. Hogwarts really was a beautiful place. A bit rural for his liking, but the Scottish Highlands would be a more than acceptable spot for a vacation home one day. His dark, beady eyes took in the forest just at the edge of the grounds and his curiosity was peaked just like every other time he took in the view. Now, Harvey was no thrill seeker. No one would catch the boy breaking rules just for fun or allowing his curiosity to drive him into dangerous places, but he'd be lying of the chance to glimpse one of the legendary creatures that dwelled within the forest wasn't a daily temptation. The pictures and illustrations, even the magically enhanced ones in their textbooks could never compared to seeing it with one's own eyes.

However, just as he was not a thrill seeker, Harvey was also not an animal lover. He wanted no pet outside of maybe an owl for sending letters, but that was more so he could flaunt his wealth than anything else. The school owls did the job fine, but to send a Great White Owl? Now that was prestigious! Yet despite that fact, Harvey had eyed the Hogwarts stables and even done quite a bit of reading on magical creatures, both wild and domestic. It was quite the business the rearing and trading of such creatures. Every witch or wizard kept a wand on their person and the cores of said wands were surely not all wild caught. Not to mention all of the potion ingredients that must be used by the thousands across the wizarding world. Harvey had no desire to handle animals himself, but perhaps a worthy investment for his galleons one day. However, the thought of finding one of these unique materials was rather enticing.

His little legs carried him out into the courtyard as perhaps maybe he would go and take a closer look? Yet keen eyes would spot a familiar witch sitting on one of the stone benches. Eira Cravensworth. Now she was worth a few moments for a chat any ole day. "Hello, Eira." Harvey approached and offered a courteous bow of his head. "What brings you out today? If I may ask?"

There are a lot of things Eira can do with utmost ease: Defense Against the Dark Arts homework, Charms spell work, enchant the silver teapot to refill an empty cup without being prompted, and then some.

But there are also a great many things she struggles with; brewing potions, keeping a plant (both magical or not) alive for more than 24 hours, keeping herself awake during History of Magic and... creating a fool-proof plan.

The girl huffed in annoyance, tucking her bangs back as she scrapped yet another lengthy parchment, casting a controlled Incendio and watching the smoke curl as the flame ate the paper. Unless she managed to get her hands on a genuine Invisibility Cloak or cast a flawless Disillusionment Spell, she would land herself in detention faster than one could say "Incarcerous".

She was about to rip another plan (involving the use of Extinguo and maybe a bottle of Confusing Concoction that she would try to throw as a distraction) when she heard footsteps approaching and a familiar voice greeting her in a polite tone.

Eira looked up and saw Harvey Barrows bowing his head, his appearance meticulous, neat, and just as perfect as she had last seen him.

He asked what she was doing, and it caused her to internally debate whether to tell Harvey her plot or not. On one hand, as a fellow housemate, if she mucked up this little operation, it would cost them house points, and even more rules would be implemented. But on the other hand, Harvey's new perspective may help her achieve her goal, and she might even encounter a thestral, or a unicorn.

She will even settle with a bowtruckle, if she's desperate enough.

The pros outweigh the cons currently, so she promptly stood up and responded with a curtsey, "It's great to see you again, Harvey!"

With a sly grin, she threaded her fingers together and asked, "Is it too forward of me to ask for your assistance with my plot?"

Everyone had strengths and weaknesses. A fact that Harvey never loved to accept as he strove to be perfect in everything that he did. Well, except herbology. He had resigned to the idea that such work was beneath him and there was no reason for him to try all that hard. The boy would just happily accept an A in the course, never to look back again. The truth was that he had no skill in it whatsoever and that fact drove him mad. So, the little lie he told himself kept his mind at peace and he'd just have to live with his grandfather's punishment for not achieving strait O's.

One thing that he was particularly good at was proper planning. In fact, there was a planner in his enchanted satchel right now that a schedule written for the entire next month. Meal times, study sessions, spectating sports, even the boy's relaxation periods were planned out. Without it he felt his mind would start to sway and then disorganization would follow. When that came...everything unraveled. It wouldn't really, but he surely felt that way. This tedious behavior trait of his did make him a reliable source if one needed help devising a plan and as Harvey and Eira exchanged pleasantries it would seem that he was in the right place at the right time.

Curious. The little flicker in his eye would give away his intrigue. The way she worded her question had his mind starting to crank. Plot? Why use that word with an accompanying sly smile? Harvey was usually steadfast when it came to following the rules. They were there to maintain order, were they not? Pulling pranks and rebelling against authority always seemed like brash and childish behavior. However, were there not situations that also required a bit of rule bending to achieve one's goals? If he was going to make a name for himself in business one day he would surely have to get his hands a little dirty and Eira did not strike him as a girl looking to break rules just for the sake of it. Alright! He was in.

"A plot you say?" Harvey wagged his brow as he gave into the intrigue. "Not too forward at all, Eira. What did you have in mind?"
