Benji pulled down his bow from its hook in his room. It had been an adventure to try to get the thing to Brazil. He had needed to take a trip with his father back to the store they had bought it from, acquire "proper documentation," declare it at customs, and pack it far away from everything else. But it was worth it to have it sitting above his bed in all its green magnificence. It was the only thing he had hung up in the room, although his mother had sent him with more things than he knew what to do with. They were all stuffed neatly behind a dresser, allong with his arrows and quiver, which he now pulled out.
Grabbing his case - which his parents had insisted on, telling him that nobody at Castelbruxo would appreciate a kid with a bow on his shoulder, he packed his bow and snapped his arrows cleanly into their respective slots. His bow was a simple wooden recurve, but his arrows were much fancier, made of aluminum and fake fletching. He headed out of the building without glancing at the students mingling about. He knew their names, mostly; he doubted they knew his.
He slipped away from the main hub of the campus, down a path he knew would be less traveled. All the times he had walked it, he had only seen a few people, and that seemed good for shooting arrows. It headed towards the outer fringes of the campus, away from the chances of skewering someone.

Date : November 16th, 2024 Color code : Written|Thought|Said Jason had just returned from the school grounds, there was something he had to make sure of there. Both hands were stuffed into the pockets of his brown cargo shorts, the Brazilian Boy with black t-shirt took constant steps on the stone path while grumbling inside. This was a perennial complaint regarding how vast Castelobruxo was and how many steps had to be made just to go here and there, all because of the horizontal landscape chosen as the overall layout of this magic school. His annoyance only lessened because he was already... 'somehow used to it'. He used some of his freetimes to walk around the school. Well, just to 'somehow used to it' took him over a year.
Almost reaching the lodging house, he passed a neat and clean looking boy: brown eyes matching his short hair. Compared to the boy's appearance, Jason was more interested in the case he was carrying. Jason had seen something like that before. Bow case. What is he going to do? His brows furrowed, green eyes stared suspiciously. He's not going to hunt down the school's raised mammals, is he?
Feet still moving, Jason walked closer to the boy coming from the opposite direction, "I hope you know what you're gonna do," Jason whispered as they were in the same line, before he stopped and turned towards the boy. Meddling in other people's business was not his forte, but some impulse made him continue, "Where are you going..." gazing down, "...with that archery gear?"Interacting with : @Benji Marecos @Avis Marlong

Benji barely glanced at the boy who walked toward him on the sidewalk. He was used to it, people simply walking past him on the sidewalk, the halls, going unnoticed. He really would make a great cat burglar. He looked a bit less Paraguayan than his family, a bit more ethnically ambiguous. Or in other words, Benji was boring. Average.
Unfortunately for Benji, carrying a large bow-shaped case seemed to diminish his invisibility, and he almost jumped as the kid actually spoke to him. "I hope you know what you're gonna do," Benji glanced at him, then checked behind him in case the kid was talking to someone else. "I do, yeah." He pulled his focus back in front of him, as that seemed to be the end of the conversation.
Until the kid turned around to walk with him. Benji furrowed his brow for a moment, glancing at him. He had just been walking in the opposite direction, and this was very ineffective. He must have forgotten something. Or maybe he was lost. "Where are you going with that archery gear?"
Or maybe he was going to try to continue the conversation. Benji gestured toward the forested area they were entering. "Into the forest." The path curved into a lighter part of the forest, where the canopy was lighter and the sun still had plenty of room to fill the open space. If they went further in, the trees would grow closer together and the canopy would fill in the gaps, but Benji wasn't going deep into the woods. His goal was really just to not hit anyone else.

Date : November 16th, 2024 Color code : Written|Thought|Said Okay. So he knew what he was going to do. Then what? A boy named Jason Aguilar should have just shrugged and continued walking towards his lodging house, leaving that student to his own company. Strangely, today he seemed to have too much free time until he was up with decision to follow the boy. He took some distance behind him, but not trying to hide his presence. For some reason he still felt uneasy about the archery gear inside the bowcase. Hearing that the boy was heading into the forest, of course his suspicions grew bigger.
He didn't try to start a conversation until they reached the outermost part of the forest. Sunlight still went in through the gaps between the leaves, but this place was shady enough and also hidden from the crowd. Jason stopped walking, folded his arms and leaned his back against one of the trees. He let that boy continue walking, keeping him with his sight. A moment later, Jason finally spoke, "Hey you... What's your name? What year?" Jason then gave his full name and mentioned that he was a second-year student. "Archery in the forest? You could seriously hurt living creatures here... or at least be accused of doing so, you know? Do it on the school grounds next time."
With his chin held high, the Brazilian boy said, "Feels super confident with your skill, huh?" There was a clear underestimate in his tone. He raised an eyebrow, his haughty green eyes still fixed on the boy, forcing him to prove his skills.Interacting with : @Benji Marecos

"Hey you... What's your name? What year?"
Oh. He wanted to keep talking. And in English too. That was strange. Benji was used to getting lost once in a while with the Portugese that most students here spoke, but it wasn't that different. English though, that was a whole different beast.
"Benji; The year one." He glanced back at the kid, one eyebrow raised in a questioning return, nodding in acknowledgement as the kid gave his name. His full name. Middle name and all. Was that what people did here? Benji shrugged and amended his words. "Benjamín-Elías-Veraz-Marecos-Cardozo."
His word were quick and quiet, matter-of-fact. He was simply giving what he owed, making a little deal of it as possible.
"Archery in the forest? You could seriously hurt living creatures here... or at least be accused of doing so, you know? Do it on the school grounds next time."
Jason was talking faster, or so it seemed to Benji. He missed quite a bit of the sentence trying to translate to Spanish, but caught the last part. "Do it on school grounds." Benji frowned slightly. "On grounds? Where I can hurt students with arrows?" He shook his head. "No, I will shoot in the forests, where the arrows hit trees."
"Feels super confident with your skill, huh?" "Feel confident" was all that Benji caught, though he tilted his head at the hostility clear in the older boy's tone. Was feeling confident now a bad thing? He shrugged it off once again, pausing in the middle of a clearing, where the sunlight could flow through the canopy without disturbance of branches. "I am confident that I will not hit students. Because I am in forests, see?" He gestured around, showing off the trees.
He set down his case and unlatched it, pulling it open until the lid stood up. He pulled out the quiver first, strapping it around his waist before stocking it with arrows and finally pulling out his bow. He turned away from Jason; it would do no good to hit a kid while in the forest, before nocking his bow. He pulled back the string and anchored his finger to the corner of his mouth, letting go and watching as the arrow hit a nearby tree with a satisfying twang. He gave a soft nod of approval before turning back to Jason. "You want to learn to shoot the arrows?"
@Sere Nade
This whole no English this is harder than I thought to write, hope I did okay. Benji will have a Spanish accent here.

Date : November 16th, 2024 Color code : Written|Thought|Said Dang, such a thick accent. It wasn't a form of exaggeration when Jason raised an eyebrow, closed his eyes, and then shook his head before finally showed the green gaze again. Right, this school is pretty much international. I have to start getting used to this kind of things. Jason himself didn't have as strong an accent as this 'the year one' in front of him, named Benji; perhaps because both of his parents related to many international clients, so that working proficiency carried over into the household. He didn't shout 'Oh my God' overdramatically or spell hotdog as 'hotchie-doggie'.
Aside from the accent thingy, Jason got another impression of Benji: this boy was stubborn. Did he know how many creatures lurked in this forest, which could be hurt by his arrows? Wouldn't it have been better to choose an open area where he could be sure there were no people or other creatures around? Didn't he know that this school took pride in every living creature they protected in the entire Amazon, and that they idolized their Herbology and Magizoology curriculums?
On top of those things... was he really that insecure about his archery until he had to hide in the woods, placed the student safety as a cheap reas--- "Oh my God!" Jason, who had been leaning against a tree, suddenly stood up straight and applauded at Benji's performance. Realizing that he might seemed too impressed, the Brazilian boy cleared his throat and clapped slower, "Well, that was... pretty impressive." The impression had changed. He didn't even know why the boy had to worry about hurting anyone. It was something unnecessary, apparently.
When Benji offered him the chance to learn archery, Jason saw no reason to refuse, "Sure. This is not gonna be that hard, I assume." Jason Aguilar and his cocky attitude were inseparable. "Just tell me how to do this."Interacting with : @Benji MarecosReducioSorry for the late response!

Benji flinched backwards at the sharp and sudden outburst coming from the boy near him. His cheeks flushed a light pink in pride at his shot, which hadn't even been that great. But he didn't smile; rather, his forehead creased, and he shook his head softly at Jason, gently correcting the older boy as he strode to pull his arrow out of the tree. "No, no. You can not be loud when a person is shooting. You may distract, and then he might shoot you not on purpose. You seem very worried about shooting people."
Back when Benji had first gotten his bow, his father had made him learn with wooden arrows that he had rounded the tips off of. They still hurt, of course, but they wouldn't do any proper damage. This turned out to be a good thing, as his older cousin "babysitters," had, for a while, enjoyed playing a game they called "Arrow Gauntlet," which involved running in front of Benji as he was trying to aim. Benji still wasn't sure whether the goal was to get hit or not to get hit. Around the time that he graduated to aluminium arrows, his cousins had also, thankfully, graduated out of their little game. Benji, as a result, didn't get distracted easily, but proper archery manners were never a bad thing to teach.
Finally reaching the tree, he placing his palm against the tree and pulled his arrow out, placing it back into its quiver. Crossing back across the meadow, he handed his bow to Jason before taking a step back. "You hold the bow like this" He held his left arm out and gestured to the slight bend in his elbow with his other hand. "The arm is a little bit not straight, or the string can burn it. Do not pull string and let go without arrow. This will break the bow and also you." He handed an arrow to Jason, and slipped a step behind the boy. It was difficult to hit people to the sides, but one never did know how incompetent a person could be. "You noch the arrow on the bow and put the arrow on the rest. And pull the string to your face and let go. Do not forget to aim."

Date : November 16th, 2024 Color code : Written|Thought|Said Well, this little boy is definitely an annoying smart-ass when he opens his mouth. Jason shrugged after a playful insult inside himself. A smile formed on his lips as he watched Benji pointed out the importance of undistracted situation in archery. He couldn't retort because this Paraguayan smart-ass was indeed... smart, and had proven himself that he was really a pro at this sport.
Jason listened to Benji's explanation while doing what the boy said. "Okay, holding it like this, never lock the arm straight..." He repeated Benji's instructions unconsciously, to make sure he understood the Spanish accent correctly, positioning his left hand holding the bow, "Drawing and releasing the string without an arrow will damage the bow..." Jason accepted the arrow, "I noch---what?" Is that a professional archery term or something? He was starting to get confused, but nevertheless, Jason continued with his gut feeling; placing the arrow where it felt right and pulling the string toward his face. "I'm aiming at the same tree. The one that you shot earlier." He paused for a few seconds before releasing the arrow.
"Hell, that hurt!" Jason looked at the three fingers on his right hand that he had used to draw and release the string. "You said nothing about these fingers!" He looked up towards Benji, threw a protest, but then one second later he cleared his throat and asked casually to the boy behind him, "How did it go?"ReducioI'll let you decide about Jason's result.Interacting with : @Benji Marecos

"I noch---what?" Benji tilted his head. Noch. That was the word for it, was it not? Encoque. Oh. Nock, not noch. "Nock, I am sorry, I mean Nock. You add the arrow onto the bow, like this." He took the bow and pointed to the end of it, where there was a little divot, where Jason was to clip it onto the string, parallel to the rest, where the arrow would sit. It snapped in with a sharp snap.
Pulling his hands behind his back, Benji quietly watched as Jason shot the arrow. It landed it the tree, surprisingly enough, though much higher than Benji's and a bit off to the side. "Hell, that hurt!" Benji flinched at the language and the outburst. This kid really thought everyone cared about everything he had to say.
He shrugged again. "Maybe. If you shoot more, your fingers will become happier. You shoot good." For a beginner, in any case. "You need to not keep your hand tight. If you hold the bow tight, your hand shakes." He gently pulled the bow from Jason, demonstrating how to how the bow out from, gripping it with only the thumb and index finger. "You will think the bow will fall. It will not. Unless you drop it." He gestured to the tree. "After you shoot an arrow, you must go get it."

Date : November 16th, 2024 Color code : Written | Thought | Said Jason was still hissing, his teeth clenched, and his right fingers could feel the pain. It had been his first time shooting an arrow and he wasn't exaggerating. It hadn't been a positive experience, and Jason didn't like the pain. He let Benji evaluate the results. When his interlocutor said he was doing pretty well, Jason ignored all other input about his fingers. All he could hear was praise, and it sounded good in his ears.
The Paraguayan took back his bow and gave him another long lecture about how your bow won't fall even if you only hold it with your thumb and index finger, and something else Jason couldn't fully understand because of Benji's thick accent. All he knew was that the boy was asking him to take back the arrow he had shot earlier. "Alright, alright..." Jason murmured, "...like you don't have any other arrows."
Jason stepped closer to the tree and gripped the arrow tightly, trying to pull it out with all his strength, and...
Crack!
Instead of being pulled from the tree, the arrow broke. "Oh, shit." Jason was sure Benji could hear the loud crack. He turned around and cleared his throat, "I-I..." The Brazilian boy was about to apologize, but what came out of his mouth were rather long, unpleasant sentences, "Y-you know what? This is not my fault! You didn't even show me how to pull the arrow out properly! A-and the way you talk, it's all slurred! I could barely hear anything over that annoying accent!"
