Cirrus squinted his eyes as his pupils dilated, fighting back against the oncoming attack of the sun's light overhead. He smacked his lips as he sat up, the lingering taste of peppermint still prominent as he stretched, a couple satisfying cracks echoing through the empty fields. Cirrus readjusted his khaki converse hat, a couple wispy tufts of golden brown escaping the band of the cap as he did so.

As he stood up he felt suddenly a bit of a draft from the back of him causing him to shiver, much different to the nice warm rock he had been napping on moments before. The boy turned his head to try and catch a glimpse of his backside as well as reaching his arms to feel the culprit of this insatiable chills, his hand met with the slackened wet cloth that clung to his back. He frowned almost immediately as his fingers made contact to the dampened splotch that spread across the whole width of his spine.

Cirrus let his gaze fall to the spot where he had been laying moments ago, a tragically crumbled and disfigured mango juice box sat smooshed and dripping. This only caused his eyebrows to knit tighter together in... Disappointment, his mother every month sent him a small gift basket, which consisted of usually a juice, flaming lime turtle chips, and a tiny activity to do whenever he was bored.

This month she had sent a small journal with a small note advising the boy to go out and explore nature, collect flowers and preserve them in the book, just perfect for the blooming buds of springs. The Hufflepuff put aside his overwhelming feelings, there was no use crying over uh... Spilled juice? WHATEVER!

The boy took a deep inhale through his nostrils, the sharp breath tickling the conundrums of his nostrils as he trudged forward, his honey colored eyes scanning the vast grounds of the school. But instead of flowers his eyes locked instead into something else, a form of a girl with hair the color of liquid stars cascading past her shoulders, she sat curled up with some sort of book unreadable from where he sat.

Although they had only met once, Cirrus recognized her immediately... Elena Clark. A smile without permission spread across his features as he approached closer, he held onto the tree as he tilted to catch a gaze at the contents of the pages with curiosity before he spoke.

"Hi Elena!" Cirrus said before plopping down next to the Ravenclaw. "Hou have ye been?"

He then looked off into the fields, squinting his eyes, it was moments like these where Cirrus remembered why he needed glasses, was he gonna where them though? Of course not! They were rather impractical especially given the activities he constantly partook in. He then leaned back against the tree holding up the scrapbook for Elena to see with a bright smile.

"today A'm flower pickin for scrapbooks, did ye want tae?"

I exist. In a thousands of agonies - I exist. I'm tortured on the rack - but I exist ! Although I sit alone - I exist ! I see the sun, and if I don't see the sun, I know it's there. And there's a whole life in that, knowing that the sun is there.

Deeply buried in one of her favourite books (The Brothers Karamazov, Dostoevsky), the moonchild was hiding from the burning rays of the sun, and found shelter in the shadow of a weeping willow. Its long branches, with falling leaves, hid her from the gaze of students passing by, and offered an illusion of heaven - the gentle rush of a nearby source of water, the soft chirping of birds, the sweet breeze playing with the golden strands of her air. The grass nearby was scattered with scented flowers, the smell mingling with a persistent scent of... mango ?

Frowning, the young girl raised the nose from her book, only to meet two warm honey-coloured eyes and a bright smile. A familiar sight, one she quickly linked to the party back in december, where she was blinded by the radiant warmth emanating from him. Lemons and beaches, sand and ice creams - the embodiment of a sweet childhood summer. It took her a few seconds to react, as she blinked twice, not moving an inch. His greeting was the declic, and she jumped, a gasp escaping her. "Ah !" He plopped down next to her, the smile never leaving his lips. Trying to gather her thoughts, her eyes wandered down to the clothes he was wearing. "You like the Smiths ?" she asked bluntly, a light excitement audible. Elena, focus, reply to his hello. "I mean," she cleared her throat, a matching smile now curving her lips. "Hey Cirrus ! I've been good, and you ?" There it is, good job.

Luckily the sunshine-made boy seemed to have a thousand thoughts running per seconds, meaning he would not take offense in her impressive lack of social skills. Holding off what seemed to be an uncompleted scrapbook, he then blabbered something incomprehensive - forgive the young raven for not understanding his heavy accent. Luckily, she managed to pick up a word - flowers - and decided to go along with it, as often when she could not hear what the other was saying. "Sure !" She smiled, nodding. "Flowers are marvelous, especially in this season."

Small particles of gold drifted through the air, like floating fairies of the coming summer causing a feeling of a sneeze that wouldn't come. He rubbed his nose with the back of his hand, hoping to rid his nostrils of the attack from the blooming pollen allergenics.

Cirrus then brought his hand to hold his chin in a thinking position, slouching again the bark of the sleeping willow.

"I'm gud, and hmmm A dae like the smiths, but they're more o ma dad's favorite band than mine. A only really know a few songs, but ma fav is a pretty basic choice... A love a boy wi a thorn i his side?" He said a soft smile playing on his lips as he grabbed up a nearby stick, picking at the thinning bark mercilessly not bothered by her bluntness in the very least and instead chose to entertain her question.

"but yeah, A like it because o the usual preservin throuch adversity message. Y'know? whit aboot ye? dae ye like smiths an whit's yer fav?"

Cirrus thwacked the stick back and forth, abusing the poor blades of grass Infront of him. Pushing the stick upright so that it could stand by itself, before pushing it more until it broke into splintering pieces as he ranted. It was obvious that the boy had grown very much to those around him since he started his year at Hogwarts, going from the quiet nervous kid to being more comfortable in himself and around others.

To believed that the year was almost coming to a close was shocking, but also prevelant in the children's lives, as it showed them transitioning from blissful ignorance to being more experienced and responsible when in terms of the Wizarding School. Well at the very least it was for the muggle-born boy, but the orginal magic that well... Magic held had disappeared slightly in the boy's pooling eyes, his eye then narrowed towards the book.

"Whatcha reading?" Cirrus said tilting his head slightly poking the cover with his brokened branch.

After a small silence as he held up his scrapbook like it was a day at show-in-tell, the Hufflepuff withdrew closing it with a sharp snap. He got up groaning like an old man with bad joints, before politely holding out his hand to help the red-sweatered girl up, beaming ear to ear with happiness with her acceptance of his offer.

"Come on! A know a guid spot thon A stumblit upon accidentally while bug hunting!" He said gesturing his hand for her to follow as he lead her further and further to the border of Hogwarts grounds. The grass becoming more wild and unkept the longer they trudged, and the wildflowers that Scotland had to give became more prevelant.

Cirrus then began to lean down picking the flowers strategically, breaking the stem at the base of their greened leaves. As they gathered and scavengered the mousy-haired boy came up to the girl of the moon, a crown of conjoined unnamed flowers in the palm of his hands like an offering. As if a gift for her participation in his activities, before going to gather more.

Flowers were releasing small particles of pollen, swirling in the sunlight and gently settling on top of the two children. Brushing one off her jeans, Elena noticed her new friend seemed to be quite sensitive to the little devils - an allergy she was pleased to be immune against, though the way their house was perpetually filled with flowers of all sort might have had trained her immune system. Hmm, now that she was thinking of it, perhaps she could drag an ill-tempered cat there ? Despite their friendship being unexpected, she did felt like the two of them had grown closer, and knowing his love of plant he was sure to adore her mom's greenhouse. Snapping out of her trance, Elena's eyes narrowed as she tried to distinguish the words Cirrus was uttering. Nevertheless, her face lit up as she heard the title of a song she adored. "The boy with the thorn in his side ?" she squeaked excitedly. "My parents often dance to the rhythm of this song, I love it."

She nodded at his analysis, then grew silent for a few seconds to gather her thoughts. Anytime someone asked to rank things she liked, she suddenly forgot all about it. "I would say...," she mused, "I Know It's Over." Despite being a bit sadder than the rest, this song held so much meaning to her it was an obvious choice. "And yes, I do love the Smiths. Even if they're not my favourite band. What's yours ? Favourite band, I mean ?" Stumbling over her words and forgetting some, Elena cringed at her incapacity of holding small talk. Remembering to relax her shoulder and stop staring at that one single strand of grass, she instead focus on the poor stick Cirrus was tormenting. When he broke it, she picked another one and pushed it before him.

"The Brothers Karamazov, Dostoevsky," she replied, lovingly running a hand on the hardcover. "It was my father's and he gave it to me when I left for Hogwarts. Do you happen to read ?"

Before she knew what was happening, Elena was dragged upward by a steady hand. Raising to her feet, she gazed at the brown haired boy in confusion, wondering which part of her conversation had made her sign a pact with... well a mischievous elf, in that case. 'Devil' would be used the describe whatever the opposite of Cirrus was. She had no time to protest before being guided through the woods, grass growing wilder at each step they took. As he leaned to pick up a flower, it suddenly clicked. "Oh," she laughed, "the scrapbook !" He must have somehow asked her to accompany him and she must had gave an affirmative answer. Pleased that her poor understanding of his dialect turned out to be the right choice, she immediately began picking up flowers. Irises, harebells, snowdrops and heathers soon came together in a harmonious ensemble of purple and white.

Turning around, she noticed the coffee-haired boy had somehow crafted a beautiful flower crown, and was humbly presenting it to her, an offering. A bell-like laughter erupting from her throat, and she ceremoniously bowed, allowing him to place it on her golden locks. "It seems I have been crowned Queen of Mirth," she giggled, taking advantage of him being too focused on his new picks to sneak behind him. Soon, an ivory and lilac crown adorned his soft curls, and she winked before leaning to pick a thistle. "Did you know they were considered Scotland's national flower ?" she asked, presenting it to the sunbathed boy. Taking a few steps before twirling softly, she spotted a few other candidates. "What kind of flowers do you need for your scrapbook ?"

The hufflepuff smiled fondly at the girl's gentle chime, obviously very much having positive connotations to the son mentioned. Suddenly the thought of Elena's parents waltzing with one another, hand in hand as the music felt distant, filting out of a brazen phonograph. The false recollection could only be described as looking through a lense of a vintage film camera, soft, hazy, and out of touch.

Cirrus listened attentively at liquid gold haired girl, as she gave him the time of day with her musings, to further entertain the conversation. He paused his abuse of the wood, she had chosen such a gut-wretching song. One that tears could easily fall too, definitely a song that stood out compared to their usual discography and sound. He couldn't help but be curious about her choice, it was Elena's favorite so it must of been for some good reason?

"Pretty sad song choice..." Cirrus said with a soft chuckle. "gin ye dinnae mind me askin why thon ane?"

The boy without thinking accepted the new stick that would ultimately meet the same demise, tossing the other aside. It was like he was a sappy soap opera villian and the stick was the main character... If that made any sense?

"Favorite band?" Cirrus mimicked the question, bringing his hand up to his chin, pushing his thumb against his lips, as his eyebrows knitted together in thought. Dramaticizing his speech and moving animatedly, as to ease her awkwardness. "Hmmm...maybeeee.... TV Girl or IKON? I dunno—" He laughed. "Whit aboot ye?"

He did a once over at the book as her hand swept across the cover in a nostalgic way, Cirrus looked up as she explained it was a gift from her father, causing a slight grin to pull at the corners of his lips. But in honesty, what didn't make the boy smile?

"Whats it aboot? an dae mangas count? A read plenty o thae."

Cirrus placed the ring of fresh wildflowers on the crown of her head as she bowed like royalty. With the accompaniment of the warm sun and the flowers it truly made her hair glow an almost blinding marigold. The boy let out his own quiet laugh to accompany the sound of hers, like a fairy, a small jingle of bells.

As the boy begun to pick more flowers he was pulled out of his zone by the feeling of the other's presense hovering over him. Feeling the light weight of the crown decorating his head ontop of his baseball cap, he looked up so that he was now looking at her face.

"Did you know they were considered Scotland's national flower ?"

"Oh really? A didnae know thon.... An any flower will dae as long as they leuk nice." He smiled standing up and turning to face her, a bouquet of flowers in array of colors in hand, complimented with a friendly grin.

Unbeknownst to the Hufflepuff the sunny sky filled with wispy clouds had grown dimmer, being replaced with large darker clouds that stretched across the sky in a slow motion.

Despite the answer to his question being an obvious one - and one she didn't want to share, not in this setting - she actually took a second to reflect on his question. The first time she had ever listened to it was by stealing one of her father's old vinyle, in the dead of night, to try and find some company within the endless dark hours that seemed to stretch behind infinity. The sheer despair held in his voice had truly cracked something in her, and without thinking tears had streamed down her cheeks. She had listened to it ever since. "I adore the poetry of the lyrics, I suppose," she mused, "though I must admit it is the music that got to me."

Watching him break another stick in amusement, she raised her eyes once he started pondering her question. "Oh ! I know of TV girl, but I do not know the other... IKON, was it ?" She questioned, tilting her head slightly. "Mine is Radiohead," she then smiled. "Though I also like Mitski and Hozier. Oh, and ABBA." Too many to quote, actually.

"It's...." she frowned, "philosophical. A bit too much on a sunny day like this, actually, even for me." Dostoyevsky was more of an autumn read, and her mind kept wandering to the light breeze and the sound of leaves gently deposing themselves in the clear water. "Sure, mangas count ! Happy to hear you share my love for books, though I believe I've never actually read one before. Manga, I mean, not books, because I am reading one right now." Stars, just shut your mouth, Elena.

Rushing through the fields like a true queen of may, Elena had never felt more alive and content. Curiously, the extroverted boy's laugh was quiet - not something she expected yet the soft sound of it reminded her of childhood memories. Nodding, the girl then began to gather more flowers, offering them to the boy with the matching crown each time her hands were becoming too full. After a long moment, they both had their arms filled with all sorts of plants that Elena was fighting the urge to name.

Suddenly, the sky darkened. Yet oblivious, the two of them were too far lost in their flowery madness to take it into account, until the first water dropped right on top of Elena's nose. "Uh oh." In less than a few seconds, a pouring rain crashed down on them. Yelping, Elena let out a high pitched scream before grabbing Cirrus' wrist and running towards the castle. Why are we so far away ? Mid race, her foot hit a rock and she stumbled, luckily managing to stabilise herself. Resuming their race, she could not stop the grin splitting her face from transforming into another access of laughter, as they both traced under the pouring rain.
