A Quiet Moment
@Lark Flaer
The library was one of Dale’s favorite places to spend his extra time, which he found himself with more of these days, he remembered his first year he was constantly stressed, he didn’t even know how large the library really was. But now that he had lots of time, he had explored more of the school, and with that came more places to take a nap, which he also found himself taking more of, maybe it was out of sheer boredom he did it, but he didn’t mind, he quite enjoyed this much slower-paced life. His favorite place was outside by the lake, his second favorite place was at the back of the library, near the muggle section. Almost no one came back here, in fact, he was sure not many people knew this place existed, there was a long table there, and Dale would sleep on it, not on the chairs but directly on the table, he found it much more comfortable to be able to fully spread out, some might wonder why would he not just sleep in his dorm, the answer was it would be quite loud there with all the boys talking and hanging out in there.
It was a rainy day, the library had maybe 2-3 other people there, other kids were still having lunch or in the small hall hanging out with friends, Dale, on the other hand, was feeling a bit tired, thanks to the rain he couldn’t go by the lake so he made his way to his spot, picking up a book that look sorta interesting on the way there, it was something on the history of potion ingredients, he was pretty sure he had read something similar before. He arrived at his table and down lied down on it, he started reading the book, he had read something like that before, well it served its purpose, in not only 5 minutes Dale was already asleep the book fell onto his chest, and Dale went off to sleep land, his right arm behind him providing some sort of pillow, and one of his legs crossed over the other. He hoped no one came by to see him like this.

A Quiet Moment
✧༝┉┉┉┉┉˚*❋ @Dale Kurt ❋*˚┉┉┉┉┉༝✧
The morning had dragged by and classes even more so.. must be due to being a Friday. Lark had rushed to drop her things off in the Dorms before racing towards the Library. The more time she had spent around her Muggleborn friends, the more she wanted to be able to understand their world. It was bad enough she was out of touch with people her age that lived in the Wizarding World but she wanted to know more about the other side of the world as well. Plus, if she was lucky she would catch a certain brown haired boy knowing he spent a great deal of time among the books there. The possibility made a giddy smile slide across her lips as she rounded the corner and entered the Library.
After kindly getting directions to the Muggle section, that sounded unfortunately limited in selection by the Librarian's tone, Lark gave her thanks and made her way into the back of the Library. It looked like hardly anyone was in there. Her heart sunk as she looked around, her golden eyes hunting for the familiar untamed locks and green uniform. 'Maybe he stayed in the dorms.. or outside. She bit the corner of her lip and sighed making her way to the Muggle section. What a bummer, she had missed the boy a lot recently and wished they had classes together. Not that, that would be any good for her grade... or attention span while in class.
Giving a smile to one of the few students studying, Lark peered up at the section numbering. "This must be it.." She muttered to herself and rounded the shelves. The gentle tapping as rain fell outside made Lark feel at home in the quiet of the Library. At least she would get some studying done. Maybe even a doodle or two!
Lark froze as she noticed someone lying on the table in the small section of books. Oh my gosh... A hand shot to her mouth trying to cover up a soft giggled at the boy's appearance. Tiptoeing over to the table she eyed Dale up and down. She had never thought a table to be that comfortable but there he was, passed right now. Book on his chest and arm to support his head. A tingle ran along her body as she stared at the boy. He looked so cute lying there. Giving a quick look around she didn't want to appear creepy but wanted a closer look... When they were around each other Lark felt a little self-conscious looked at him for too long. This was the perfect opportunity to really admire his features all she wanted. Golden eyes following along his jawline and neck a rose color tinted her cheeks. Leaning in closer the girl clutched her books to her chest, all breath escaping her lungs. His tanned skin and brown hair complimented each other so well, especially in Slytherin green. After taking an extra couple minutes to swoon over the boy as he slept she wondered if she should wake him or just hang out quietly and let him sleep. She wasn't sure of his sleep schedule and he did seem tired the last time she had caught him in the hallway. Silently she wished there had been a blanket of sort to cover him in like her mother often did for her father when he fell asleep doing his research.
Deciding on the latter, Lark quietly took a seat at the table and pulled out one of the books she had grabbed along the way. Smiling at Dale as he slept, Lark settled into her chair and stretched her legs underneath the table, resting them on the chair across from her. Nose in the book on Muggle Technologies, some chapter about computers and internet.. clouds? It all was interesting but left Lark with more questions than before, she started to feel her eyelids droop. Rubbing at her temples Lark sat on the edge of her chair trying to shift quietly in her spot as to not wake Dale. Pulling her legs underneath her chair and crossing them she skimmed through another book this time the topic being various Muggle holiday traditions.
Not realizing just how drowsy she had gotten between classes, rushing around and the calming sound of the rain... Lark started to lean forward and before she could do anything to prevent it had fallen asleep, her head resting lightly against Dale's right side. Her breathing slowed as she found her way into a pleasant dream.

Dale opened his eyes, still a bit groggy from his nap, he sat up and crossed his legs, he looked around, luckily there was no one around, he checked his watch, it had only been around 30 minutes, a short nap compared to his usual ones, must’ve been the rain, it had picked up quite a bit since he had last been awake. He uncrossed his legs and stretched them out, he layed back down on the table, legs crossed, arms as a support and stared up at the ceiling. Usually Dale would take this time to read or try to think of new ways to get the chemicals he needed for his… hobby, there was only one thing, one person Dale could think about, Lark.
Dale found himself thinking of daydreaming of Lark more than he would like to admit to, was it weird? Dale thought so. He found himself going to places she he thought she would be, the study hall, the tree by the lake… that’s it really, he didn’t know much about Lark, maybe he should ask her about where she hung out most of the time… but wouldn’t that sound too creepy. Dale sighed out of frustration, he covered his eyes and dragged his hand down his face, why did it have to be this complicated…
As Dale was having an internal crisis he felt something, something on his right side, it was a person, b it not just any person it was Lark, Dale quickly got up, doing his best no to disturb Lark, her head was now lying on Dale legs… oh great, how was he going to get her head onto the table without it waking her up. He thought for a second… an idea came into his head, he opened his book up and gently picked up her head, he put his legs underneath him and gently lowered her head down unto the open book.
Dale got off the table, and sat in a chair, directly across from Lark, he slouched back in and breathed a sigh of relief, he looked across to see the sleeping face of lark, his cheeks went a bit red, she was adorable, her head in the look, her blue hair was unlike anything Dale had ever seen before. Every time Dale saw Laek his heart started racing.
He hoped Lake didn’t think ill of him, taking a nap on a desk, but for some reason she wouldn’t. He picked out another book and started reading it, but he did less reading and more day dreaming, and eventually the book slipped out of his hands and fell on the ground causing a loud thud. Dale quietly groaned a looked over to Lark, hoping it didn’t wake her up.

A Quiet Moment
✧༝┉┉┉┉┉˚*❋ @Dale Kurt ❋*˚┉┉┉┉┉༝✧
Drifting in an out of her nap, Lark had settled into a steady breath as she dreamt. A rather peaceful image of her family and baby brother... or well what she had thought he may look like since she still hadn't heard any other news. A shimmering thought of her home.. father sitting with her at the kitchen table... her mother offering a plate of-
THUD!
"PANCÓGA!"
"PANCAKES!"
The girl sprung from her seat in a jolt almost toppling over the chair she sat on. A yelp of gaelic flew from her mouth before she could realize she wasn't actually sitting at home having breakfast. Her arms catching her from falling backwards in the chair, fingers gripping the seat, Lark's eyes shot to where the noise had come from realizing Dale was nowhere in sight- oh!
"My gosh.." Her chest heaved as she saw Dale staring at her. Lark's face burned a bright red as she sat back in her chair catching her breath. "Sorry." She took a deep breath in and let it out slowly. She hadn't meant to jump but the noise had completely taken her off-guard, she hadn't even remembered dozing off. How long had they been like that? How long had Dale been awake? Oh god her hair.. Fussing with part of her hair checking to make sure it wasn't standing on end, Lark readjusted her seat and closed the book in front of her.
Stretching her arms out in front of her she gave Dale a sideways smile. "Least we both got a quick nap in!" Hoping she hadn't overstepped by falling asleep partially on the boy. "Whatcha reading?" Lark nodded her chin towards the book on the floor.

Dale leaned back in his chair, "good job, no really good job." Lark jumped out of her seat she yelped something... but Dale didn't really know what she had said, it sounded like she had said Pancoga. Well, it didn't really matter there was a more pressing matter, he looked at Lark with a pained look.
"My gosh.."
Lark looked pretty shook up, she apologized, but for Dale didn't know it was his fault, "N-no it's my fault... should uhh... been more careful." Dale suddenly felt a little self-conscious about his looks, something he didn't often do. He ran a hand through his hair, trying to get to be not so messy, to no avail of course...
Dale looked over to Lark, she seemed more awake now, he wondered just how long she had there, Dale didn't really mind her finding him, he felt more at ease with Lark, well most of the time, other times he felt really nervous around her... but in a good way.
"Least we both got a quick nap in!"
Dale smiled, "Yeah, a bit of rest never hurt anyone." Lark asked him what he reading, Dale looked down at his book with a confused expression, to be honest, he really didn't know he just picked up a random book... He closed the book to get a peek at the cover "The many uses of mandrakes." Dale looked up at Lark, "That sounds way too boring even for me." Dale said with a smirk. "What about you? Did you come here to study?"

Hearing Dale's response made Lark's heart flutter. Thankfully he didn't seem too weirded out by her napping alongside him. The blush started to fade from her freckled cheeks.
"The many uses of mandrakes."
Raising an eyebrow she nodded and looked at the book. It did make sense.. they were quite useful in potion making and she was sure Dale enjoyed that. She gave a laugh at his last comment. "True.. you seem like you'd already know a great deal about them.. although it's good ta brush up on that sorta thing I s'pose!"
"What about you? Did you come here to study?"
Giving a quick nod Lark patted the stack of books she had carried over. "Though I might take some time ta get ta know more about Muggle things. Now that my parents can't really keep me from it, ya." Truthfully she had hoped studying more things like this would give her a better understanding of her Muggleborn friends including Dale. Not feel so left out of conversations. Blinking, Lark realized she hadn't really gotten through skimming the books she had brought over... what had they been about? "Ah.. uh.." She tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "It appears to beee.." She drew out the last vowel as she blotted her lips together trying to find the title. Glancing over the bright yellow cover with a cartoonish looking figure on it, Lark stifled a laugh.
"Muggles for Dummies?" She wasn't sure if this was a satyrical writing or what.. it had just sounded funny and like a good way to just ease into the ways of the Muggle world. Perhaps she had been wrong. "Strange title... but it looked like it 'as a mixture of Muggle worldly.. stuffs all in it." Flipping some of the pages she opened to a spot that had lists of holidays and various scheduled events that Muggles took part in all over. "My family never really did holidays.. so it seemed like a neat thing ta start with." Aside from the occasional Christmas celebration consisting of massive dinners and parties with her father's side of the family which had stopped a couple years ago, her parents were not one to celebrate much else. Birthdays sure, Halloween or well Samhain.. and one from the book they called Saint Patties day. Although she was positive it seemed like a different version from the one her family knew.
"There's so many.. I'm guessin' most of these aren't just Muggle based but still!" She rambled off a couple from the list, Valentines, Easter, an American one Independence Day, and even some smaller sounding holidays named after mostly men.
"Oh!" Flipping through more pages she searched for another bookmarked section. "There was one.. well before I fell asleep on ya, it wasss.. Ah!" There was an icon of various televisions and other devices. "Videogames?" Lark had absolutely no clue what this was. Most of it seemed in another language to her but the colorful images and pictures inside really tugged at her curiosity.
"I mean.. look at it! Well.. er you probably already know but... it looks like fun." She peered over the pages, eyes shimmering as they scanned over a large picture of a blonde haired boy with pointed ears and green outfit brandishing a sword. "Amazin'! Although.. shame the pictures don't move." She bit at the corner of her lip trying to imagine what this looked like. Why couldn't Muggle images move like theirs? Ugh.

@Lark Flaer
Dale looked over the book, The many uses of mandrakes... half of the uses were just elaborate ways to make pesticide, the other half were medicine, one caught Dale's attention, use a mandrake as an alarm clock. Dale shook his head and closed the book and put it aside, he didn't wanna go back to sleep just yet.
"I really don't know everything to know, but after spending almost my entire first reading in the library... I'm pretty confident in my knowledge... now if only I could remember the names of people" Dale said with a smirk, he could remember a lot of useless facts but he with everything else his memory was poor, he couldn't even remember if he had breakfast today or not.
"Though I might take some time ta get ta know more about Muggle things. Now that my parents can't really keep me from it, ya."
Dale looked at Lark with a confused look "Your parents kept you from learning about muggles?" That was weird to Dale, he just assumed it was because she didn't have access to muggle things, not that her parents isolated her from muggle things... Dale pushed the thoughts out of his head "some things are left unclear" Dale repeated to himself.
"Muggles for Dummies?"
Dale was sure that was written by a muggle-born person. He looked over to Lark, she seemed so... bright-eyed to learn about his world, that made him feel good, he had thought his world would be boring compared to Lark's, with all the grand balls and the great big castles... put his little dinky house to shame.
Lark listed off a few holidays, Dale's family didn't really do holidays either, "I didn't do holidays much either... But I can tell you a bit about them. " Dale thought for a second, putting his hand on his chin, "Well Valentine's day is a day for couples to do... romantic things?" Dale said that last part with an unsure tone, he didn't really know how to explain it well. "Easter is a bit weird, kids go out and try to find toy eggs that are hidden all over the place... I don't really know why they do this." Dale was starting to question his own knowledge about his culture... But there was one thing Lark had brought up that he could help with... video games.
"I mean.. look at it! Well.. er you probably already know but... it looks like fun.
"They are fun! In fact, I brought a..." Dale slid the book over to him, he flipped a few pages, he eventually found what he was looking for, a rectangular thing with two squares in the middle dale pointed to it "This thing, its called a DS, a popular way to play games, but muggle electronics don't work here... for some reason." Dale found out the hard way, the first time he opened his DS, it just threw sparks at him... he hoped it wasn't broken. Lark had pointed out a guy in a green tunic, "Yeah, that's Link, he a popular character you often play as in games" Dale thought for a second, "...Maybe I could let you borrow my DS over winter break? you could play it when you got home."

The more Lark flipped through the pages of the book, the more eager she felt to learn about the Muggle world. Magic or not... there appeared to be quite a lot of interesting things.
"They are fun! In fact, I brought a..."
Curiously Lark peered over at Dale watching his every movement. When he pointed to an image of some box looking thing she tilted her head to one side. "A Dee-ehs?" She blinked twice trying to mull over what the machine really did and how it worked. "Really? I wonder if some sort of enchantment is stoppin' it..." Her voice lowered, a little bummed. There were so many rules with the Statuate, perhaps that was part of it?
"...Maybe I could let you borrow my DS over winter break? you could play it when you got home."
Perking up in her seat she sat closer to the edge and beamed at her friend. "Really!" She was astonished. This thing had to be worth quite a bit and seemed so precious how could he be willing to part with it so easily?! A piece of her felt guilty. Wouldnt he want to enjoy this over break? Perhaps it was something Muggles had more than one of. "But it must be important.. Are you sure?" Golden eyes settled on the boy's brown orbs. He was so kind to her and thoughtful... it made a bit of pink rise in her cheeks. Honestly she wasnt even sure how her Holiday break would go.. she might end up at the castle... a small feeling of homesickness crept into her chest making it feel heavy.

Dale smiled as he heard Lark's strange way of saying DS, he thought it was cute... in an odd sorta way. Her accent was one of the many things about her he was getting quite fond of, in a purely platonic way, of course.
Lark had brought up an enchantment, she thought it was some sort of enchantment to stop muggle technology working here, it must be the headmaster's enchantment, maybe he didn't want muggle technology to be used here because of... hmm... "Maybe because the headmaster doesn't want muggle technologies here because they distract?" It was very tempting to just put down everything he was studying and just pick up his phone or DS... but that wasn't an option here if that really was the reasoning being used, the headmaster must really care for his students...
Lark seemed really excited after he brought up the that he could lend her his Ds for break, "But it must be important.. Are you sure?" She said looking into his eyes, his cheeks went pink, "N-no, it'll be fine... I d-don't use it much at home" That was true, he planned to use most of the time with his parents. Besides making Lark happy made him happy... for some reason.

Lark sat up straighter in her chair and beamed at Dale, golden eyes sparkling in anticipation. She felt wide awake, maybe from the quick nap.. but she expected it was something else. Something more.
"N-no, it'll be fine... I d-don't use it much at home"
"Dale... thank you!" She caught herself from leaping out to hug the boy in thanks, unsure how the gesture would be received. Looking into his eyes she felt a blush creep across her face. It didn't burn as bright as normal... almost like she was getting more familiar with the boy and less anxious around him. There was still a flutter in her belly and throat but not out of worry.. again.. something.. more. She let herself stare at the boy, her imagination taking a slight detour from the real world for a moment before a thought ran through her mind.
"Oh! I forgot!" Lark turned back to her books and grabbed her leather-bound journal off of the stack of Muggle books she had grabbed. "I wanted ta give this ta you sooner but..." She flipped through pages and pages of doodles and journal entries. "We hadn't got ta really hang out again an-aha!" Coming to an abrupt stop midway through the journal the girl whipped out a piece of neatly folded parchment. Facing Dale in her seat she presented the small piece of paper in both hands to her friend. "I wanted ta give ya this. As a thanks for well.. helpin' an' what not." She murmured the last bit unsure how to really explain how much Dale was starting to mean to her more and more each time they saw one another. The gift had been something she had started the minute they parted from the Library the first time they met, weeks of sketching and going over carefully each detail.. It didn't feel perfect to her, she knew it wasn't the best compared to others but knew Dale would appreciate the thought.
"Go ahead! Open it." She leaned forward on the table, her arms crossed and supporting her small frame, legs swinging under the table in excitement.
