Permition to describe @Roman Kingston's mannerism allowed!
Once she leaves the Potions classroom, running while she shoves her belongings back in her bag, Clementine pushes some students out of her way, mumbling embarrassed "Sorry! Excuse me! I'm sorry!", as she tries to find her partner who had just left, in a hurry, as always. The Gryffindor is covered in dust, even though she'd wiped her face during class. There had been an accident during today's lesson; an accident that could very well destroy the slow friendship that she'd been trying to form with her partner.

Letting out a relieved sigh, she catches the sight of Roman Kingston, walking in that fast pace of him in the opposite direction that he's used to, probably going back to the Slytherin common room. Clementine runs towards him, yelling his name, trying to catch up to him. Of course, he's mad, she'd mixed the ingredients of the Potion Roman had worked so hard on, which lead to them getting the worst grade on today's lesson.

"Roman, hey!" The girl says once she catches up to him, grabbing his wrist in order to stop him from ignoring her and continuing walking. Clementine breathes heavily from all the running, as she can feel the glares the students she had pushed as giving her. "Look, I-I'm really sorry," She coughs, "I wasn't paying attention! You know I don't like Potions that much, and, look" Clementine sighs, disappointed in herself, knowing he wouldn't forgive her. "I'm sorry..."

To be honest, Roman Kingston’s dealt with a lot of stupidity in his relatively short period of life. It’s quite the achievement considering he only has eleven years in his belt, but he can proudly say he’s seen everything the idiots in this world have to offer.

There was this one time his house-elves accidentally burned the cake he’d been trying to make, and he ended being the one to clean because the creatures were too busy punishing themselves over it. Or when he got into an argument with that hot-headed Slytherin just a few days ago, over some stupid reason that had to do with his stupid housemates. And another time, his father couldn’t find his glasses when they were on his face.

Yes, the point is: the boy’s dealt with some idiots on various occasions, and he should be used to it by now, shouldn’t he? (Let me tell you something he's learned: no matter how many times you find one, another idiot will always manage to surprise you!) But now, Roman’s found the biggest idiot to ever step on this planet. And that person goes by Clementine Hamilton, also known as the clumsy disaster he calls his Potions partner.

She had only one job. One. Simple. Job. And that was to give him the correct ingredients while he worked on their Potion. And Clementine Hamilton still managed to mix angel’s trumpet with Galanthus Nivalis — Merlin, how’s that even possible?!, the boy thinks frustrated — which lead to a very ruined, weird-looking and smelly Potion quietly on their cauldron as the professor walked past their table.

At the moment, as the information about what had just happened settled in his head, Roman stayed quiet, eyes glued to that disgusting potion staring back at him while his work was graded and the girl mumbled her apologies to him. He had no words, all he could think of was: I’m going to kill her, I’m going to kill her, I’m going to kill her.

When the bell rang, the safest thing he did was grab his stuff and leave, walking fast in the direction of the Slytherin common room, as his brain thought of various different ways he could simply push Clementine off the Astronomy Tower and say it was an accident. She is very clumsy, after all.

Almost running down the corridor, fuming, feeling his hands shaking, Roman completely ignores the girl’s voice trailing behind him. Of course, she’s following him, he tells himself in a rather controlled tone and a cold smile on his face. She’s a Gryffindor, she’s brave like that.

The girl grabs his wrist and when he turns around, Roman can only hear her apologizing again, as she tries to catch her breath. He stares apathetic, thinking of grabbing his wand and hexing her right then and there, but he doesn’t, as he can’t bring himself to do it. So the Slytherin only crosses his arms, staring at with his stone-cold eyes, and says, when she goes quiet.

“First of all, don’t touch me,” He says freeing his wrist from her hand, looking almost disgusted. Despite wanting, Roman’s never mean to Clementine. There’s something about her that always stops him. Not this time, however, “Second, I don’t want ya to talk to me unless absolutely necessary, ya hear?”

The boy's harsh words make her take a step back, as Clementine hadn't been ready for such hostility. It stings a lot, that cold look in his eyes, as she's never been used to be treated in that way. Most people she'd met were always kind and nice, they were never like the Slytherin in front of her. The girl crosses her arms, and continues to apologize, not wanting to end whatever bond they had.

"Look, I'm really really really sorry, Roman," Her voice comes a bit shaky and covered with honesty, and that's how Clementine knows she's bound to burst into tears soon enough. She knows Roman can be a bit of a freak when it comes to his grades; a trait that she never really understood, as she's never been obsessed with the perfect report card. Roman's confusing, she concludes, because she doesn't know most about him. She's been trying to get to know him. Trying her very best, actually. "I'll redo the potion and I'll work really hard from now on! We'll be the best potion partners ever, I promise!"

It's a dumb promise and she knows it, but the Gryffindor tells the voice in her head to shut up. She knows she's terrible at Potions, no matter how hard she tries to understand it, it always gets tangled inside of her brain. Hopefully, Roman will believe her, and they can go back to their almost friendship.

She looks at him, teary-eyed, hopeful, with a big pout, face red, looking like a child, "So?"

[quote][quote]The sight of Clementine’s teary eyes is something that gets to him, in a way that it shouldn’t. Though he says he doesn’t care about anyone’s feelings, Roman never knows how to act when someone starts to cry close to him, be it his fault or not. It makes part of his sting and clutch, and all the breath in his lungs disappear, he really doesn’t know what to do.

When he’s about to move and give her an awkward pat on the shoulder, she mumbles another apology then promises she’ll work harder, to which the boy squints his eyes at, not satisfied at all. Of course. Roman shakes his head in disapproval, knowing very well that it is fake and empty.

He’s heard them before; many times, in fact, the boy's already professional in spotting meaningless promises. Having such absent parental figures in his life leads to you knowing when someone’s full of shit or not. Roman crosses his arms, almost tasting the bitterness in his tongue, rolling off his words, as he simply takes a step towards Clementine and says, hard and cold, “Don’t make promises you can’t keep,”

And so, Roman simply turns around and leaves, not wanting that conversation to go on any further.
